Title: Dual Screens / Invisible Cursor
Post by: Bobberticus on January 05, 2009, 05:27:01 am
Good evening GW, I have a p/ annoying issue that makes having a second display completely useless.

After the computer sits idle and unused for a while and turns off the screens (or after going into sleep or hibernate mode), when I resume, the mouse cursor will become invisible on one of the displays. (Not always the same one)
It will still function perfectly normally, the cursor just won't be visible.

Google has yielded no useful information (other than "UPDATE UR VIDEO DRIVERS LOL") or a temporary solution to enable mouse pointer trails (since the trail is still visible) but this is not a real solution and is annoying.
The only way to bring the pointer back right now that I've found is the good old restart, but obviously I don't want to restart every time I leave my computer for a while.

This is an HP DV6000 laptop with vista

Take hardware acceleration down a notch and see if that helps. If not, take it down another notch, until you find a setting it works at. Does vista have a "hardware cursor" setting for the mouse pointer?

No hardware cursor setting.
Also no setting to turn down hardware acceleration (Though I did manage to find a message saying my current video drivers do not support that ability...)

unfortunately I am not aware of any less fail drivers available.
