I thought this is a good topic to make at gw because some of the members here are critical thinkers who I know just don't believe something the minute they hear it (except doktormartini) and may be able to explain this phenomena to me, this has bothered me for a while because I'm pretty sure that I personally have seen proof that U.F.Os exist, NO SHIT! Also I think UFOS in terms of spacecraft or advanced aircraft that are secretly being tested, not aliens!
** The following story happened about four years ago on a camp up north in a rural area.
Ok so it was a few years ago on this farm and there were about 30 of us sleeping under the stars, I was one of the few people awake at the time and I was talking to a female (im a pimp).
I heard a noise in the distance at first, it sounded like the sound barrier being broken by like a jet or something but it also sounded like a hovering noise. I found this particularly weird as I don't know any helicopters that can go that fast. So anyway I heard that noise and also as we were looking up at the stars I started seeing shooting stars, I saw about four of them in a row and had never seen one before nor have I seen one since. I looked at these stars in the distance and they would appear in one area and then re-appear in another like they were moving at really fast speeds or something, eventually it looked like the stars (about ten or so) we moving closer towards us, at this stage I didn't think much of it until I noticed I began being able to see them a bit better and that they were some kind of air crafts. The logical part of me still didn't think anything weird was happening other than that I had seen a few shooting stars so I went toilet in a nearby bush.
When I came back out we saw that the aircraft were even closer so we decided to run up on a near-by hill to take a look. They came very close and then I saw the most ridiculous impossible thing ever. They looked like UFOs out of a fucking movie, like I mean they were the cliche pod shape, had three rotating lights which spun around them and had a clear screen over the top and were made out of some kind of metal stuff. Normally when you see those bullshit ufo pictures they are just some blurry shape or light of a kind, but this ufo was literally right above us and so close it was about the size of a lemon in the sky. So I could see it in really fine detail. Quickly I ran down and woke up another one of my friends because I knew no one would believe me and be like "heh he's just being a prankster again", So I woke up this guy which meant three of us were viewing these aircraft at the same time. After a minute or so they sped away again and dissapeared.
Now I don't believe in aliens or anything like that but I do believe maybe it was an advanced airship being tested in rural new zealand? Can anyone explain this to me? I never believe this stuff but this was real weird and I can't really think it was anything else. I'm also ready for some HILARIOUS joke posts like "lol were you high y/n".

Its more than possible that its an experimental craft, possibly not military either, I've seen CRAZY photos of shit people have built.

What was piloting it? If you could see inside the cockpit, surely you saw the pilot?

Yeah I dont know what the fuck it was but there were a few of them, nah I could see inside but I didn't really see anyone, like it was clear glass with just a big empty space, I saw some electronic equipment or something but yeah. I couldn't see inside it that well but I never saw anything either.

I remember hearing they (the government division testing these things) are based in the andes, so if this is true it's entirely possible that they flew one to new zealand.

I think ufo sightings and stuff are cool as hell and they're supposed to be really active in my area but I've never personally seen one. I've talked to a couple of people that have though.
Speaking of military aircraft though these fucking jets kept flying over my house at about 9pm and kept making that really loud cracking sound when they go really fast I didn't see any unusual lights or anything but that was pretty weird for this late at night. There must have been quite a few of em from the sounds of it.I wish the base near here wasn't broke as hell and could afford cool shit.

when I was a kid sometimes I would get really scared that a flying saucer would land in my yard and some Greys would come visit me, or I would see the Moth Man's red eyes and become entangled in his strange plot or scheme. you always hear people on those dumb shows say 'for some reason I wasn't scared at all!!' even though it sounds like some really frightening shit.

The world is big. One thing I want to know is, how come I have NEVER heard a single story about UFO sightings that didn't happen in like, Texas? I'm not saying there aren't any, but no website or TV show I've seen about the subject ever talked about any. Ufo sightings ought to be an interesting subject outside of south USA. :fogetmmh:

they happen really frequently in Indonesia and Egypt I'm pretty sure. you just hear about them more often from the US because the US has more weight in the media than those other countries

Its been getting allot of attention over here and it was front page news also, people seem to be going nuts over this story.. currently allot of people are admitting to a chance that there could be a possibility of UFO's among us. I've never believed in aliens or UFO's and don’t believe for a second the turbine was hit by one.. but that’s just me, although it would be awesome if I was wrong. The existence of aliens could definitely spice things up for us mere humans.

Some directors like to have real stuff in their movies rather than CGI just because they think it looks more real then and they are willing to spend extra cash on this. Could be a giant frisbee as well though, you know. Maybe it was closer than you think so it looked even bigger?

Who knows... it might have exploded into smaller pieces on impact with the blades or burned up completely. It's far more likely than a UFO.

We had been away for like a few days so alot of our phones were dead/I didn't even have a camera phone. I didn't even think of it at the time, I was more trying to take it in.

The plot thickens. Are there any magnetic sources nearby (like I dunno.. mountains with metal in it?!) this location? Cause even if it was an UFO, it can't defy physics. Was it hot when you stood under it? Any light emitting from underneath it or something like that? Maybe a faint buzzing sound? Did it honk at you?
Maybe it was a balloon-kind-of-thingie that was shot out from a really big cannon (which would going really quick first and then hoovering.. not it disappearing though, but I'm thinking about this as we speak.)

Man I hope it isn't just some dude in his garage. If he has like, hover/sonic boom technology that we isn't even visible (no rockets/propellors wtf) he is holding out! Governments need that technology to more effectively kill people!! Also to improve travelling. I want a sonic boom hover car.
Also wouldn't a sonic boom be uh, pretty damaging? It's illegal to break the sound barrier within X miles of civilization and under X thousand feet or something. If it is just some homebrew alien space ship they are in deep shit when someone finds out!

I agree with Mama Luigi, If any alien life form were to visit this planet, I'm sure they would survey us before making themselves known. This is not too say that there are UFOs and Aliens visiting our planet, but who's to say that it's an impossibility?

i can confirm that the military works on crazy shit.
i used to be stationed at damnek virginia where they train their intelligence specialists and the marines test out top secret remote controlled aircraft. at night they would fly camera drones for testing but they were shaped like discs and spheres and had flashing lights. it was pretty trippy on a friday night when you were drunk, left your barracks room to get some air, then looked up to see floating lights followed by a low hum like the sound a humming bird makes when it flaps it's wings.

Now I do beleive in all that supernatural shit like ghosts and bigfoot and the like but if it was that close then it was probably a test aircraft, I've seen some pretty crazy things and I remember this documentary about a government ufo thing that looked sorta like the cliche shape, so it was more than likely a test aircraft.
EDIT: Also going along with what Mama Luigi said I don't think we could have built this ourselves, but in all seriousness I think we could have reverse engineered some shit to get it.

Bigfoot is much more credible because A) People who hunt don't go in nearly as deep or as often as alot of us believe (theres big parts of wilderness where there no human has never ever actually stepped foot in) and B) anyone who's been in the wilderness before knows that a big animal can conceal itself well if you arn't specifically looking for it or something nearby. Alot of people who bring cameras usually bring cameras to capture the scenery which is pretty clunky.
Anyways if you could see the inside and details of the UFO, and it was the size of a lemon in the sky at the most then that must be one big fucking UFO.

There have been helio-cars for awhile now. They just aren't as good as normal helicopters at this point in time. Could also have been an Osprey maybe.

Doesn't anyone else think the design for this thing seems totally impractical? It's a giant oval shape with a huge window. Things that shape have a much harder time breaking the sound barrier (or flying) than the jets we see all the time and know exist.
But the shape might make sense for something that hovers, I guess. Still, the giant window is what really gets me. That just doesn't make sense.

That model of "flying car" is only sold in auctions right now apparently but yeah, it shows that it could be something similar. Notice how the propellers are not jutting out from the surface, and are probably invisible. It could have been something similar to this. Those move around very slowly, but this could have been some sort of military model of it that moves faster and flies higher. Could you assess its size at all? Also are you sure that it really ever broke the sound barrier or moved that fast? These machines can probably make an infernal sound when they start up, and the models youve seen might just make a sound thats so loud it sounds like a sound barrier break at startup. And maybe that what you thought was a super fast movement was really two of these vehicles blinking their lights and alternating, giving you the impression it was one vehicle being at one place and then the other.
Also, fishy thing though, if they was over you all the time and came only close enough that they were the size of a lemon in the sky, it means it never really went at your eye level or even close, so how could you see them from the side so you could draw that little pic with the glass window? This is making me think youre bullshittin' us....
I don't think that the military or private companies having and testing secret hi-tech vehicles or spacecraft is such an outlandish crazy idea in itself, I mean if a company indeed was working on technology that is so advanced it looks like its from outer space, they would probably want to keep it secret until they can find a way to market or otherwise use it, they don't want a competitor to just snag the idea or technology from them.
The only part that seems out of place or strange in this, is the fact you saw it. Why would they risk putting their big project out to be seen by people? Especially in this day and age when every other guy has a camera integrated to their cellphones. This didn't apply as much at all four years ago, but even back then it would have been a pretty risky thing to do. They would instead test things like that at large over the ocean or something.
Another possibility is that it really wasn't nearly as crazy as you remember it to be, and over time your memory beautified or crazyfied the image. From that point it could have been anything, from teleguided toys to simply a dream that marked you so much that over time you remembered it as something that really happened.
Heh it could be aliens too (no its not)
