A while ago, a whole bunch of people (I can't even remember who - Drule, Soap, me, esiann, idiotkid(??), dragonx(?????), TheJackal, lots more) started playing Half Life mods on steam. At the time, a bunch of us didn't have Half Life 2, so we mainly played really old HL1 mods that sort of sucked. I think a lot of us have gotten the Orange Box and now Drule and I are going to play some HL 2 mods, so definitely join us if you want to. Some of the games we're playing are Zombie Panic! Source (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LFL0Ntbaag), which is a zombie game we had a lot of fun with, Science and Industry (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SvXLMKTito), which is a really neat HL mod where you have a number of scientists who research weapons and technology for you to use against your enemies, Wizard Wars, which is a horrible HL mod that we're playing because it is hilarious and has great sound effects, and Resident Evil: Cold Blood (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4pyFj0sazw) which is another zombie mod we had a lot of fun with.
So this is mostly a NOTIFICATION TOPIC or whatever, and you guys can play with us if you feel like it. If you know any good mods that you want to play, we'll probably try them out. So far we've got me, Drule, and losc.

Science and Industry ruled. Also uh Zombie Master can be fun (that's a HL2 mod) but if only if they've fixed some of the abuses.
in short: Game on

1 more week! then i won't have irc but i will have steam.

-
thas cool
thas cool
i'm in for this sometime
-
well i got the Orange Box and i'll try sometime, but i'll have to check my ping first. my experience with overseas servers for TF2 has been pretty crummy.
-
I like how my name gets brought up even though I had nothing to do with this before. I played TF2 and Wolf Team with you guys but never any of these HL2 mods.
Anyways, I'll be down for any of these really, since I'm bored as FUCK with every other game I have
-
At least you weren't completely forgotten like I was. I'd love to play some mods again, less of wizard wars and more of science and industry. Also we should mess with some other mods, or even good ol' HLDM.

Resident Evil: Cold Blood was a total bitch. We played that for like 5 hours before we completed a single level.
I wish L4D was more 'survival' orientated like RE:CB. It was so much fun only have 5 pistol bullets left and having to charge though a pack of dogs to get to the house with the shotgun in it.
-
I read that the Resident evil one requires the steam version of HL. Is there any way I can get that without buying another copy? (Don't I just have to copy the CD key somewhere?)
-
Open up the steam games tab and press 'activate a product on steam'. It'll take any Valve CD key (I have no idea about non-valve games).
After that it'll be treated as if you bought it on steam.

Yeah I don't know, L4D looks more like a fast-paced action shooter than anything. What made RE:CB interesting was the slow-paced survival horror and adventure elements, and the fact that you had to fight in groups against severely overpowered enemies. Like a dog could easily fuck your entire group over, so you always had the scare factor making you sneak wherever you went and make up ridiculous attack plans because you knew you had a zombie dog around the corner and only one guy with a near-empty gun.
