BEIJING, China (CNN) -- Senior North Korean officials say the communist regime has "weaponized" its stockpile of plutonium, according to a U.S. scholar, in a move suggesting that North Korea may have significantly hardened its stance on nuclear negotiations.
Selig Harrison, one of the few U.S. scholars granted access to senior North Korean officials, said at a news conference in Beijing that the officials told him they had weaponized 30.8 kilograms of plutonium, enough for four or five warheads.
they gonna blow us up..

its not like they could do anything with it other than drop another bomb on japan or south korea. but south korea has been trying to play nice with the north for so long I don't see them doing anything like that.
the biggest concern would be them selling that shit

north korea is run by a man who had his brain eaten out by one of those worms from star trek. also, he's ronery and a cinemaphile who probably watches too many michael bay movies.
just saying, he's probably one of the handful of people in the world who could care less if he was responsible ending it!

what better time to go out with a ...bang? :welp:
-
That's scary.. What they gonna do with it?
-
Kim Jong Il will never nuke America... where will he get his movies if he does?
-
The Cold War... the sequel?
Or possibly... The Cold War: Back with a Vengeance?
Or perhaps you know, he'll just skip all of the "we got weapons now do things or we'll use 'em." and go straight to "fuck it." and push the shiny button.
In any case, WE ALL KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN.

I remember seeing this political cartoon that showed a destitute and starving country but North Korea military had a picture of a nuke they were standing in front of and were saying they had a nuke to a news camera. I dunno if that made sense, wish I could find that cartoon....

My favorite was a picture of a bunch of homeless North Koreans in the winter warming up around a barrel with a nuclear explosion coming out of it.

Sweet!
(My homework was to find an article about North Korea)
-
your welcome..
-
what the hell kind of homework is that
-
Haha yeah everyone's gonna go back to school with the same article.
But yeah we were all kind of waiting for this..

With that kind of reasoning, who could possibly disagree?
-
Fuuuuuuck. Weapons are scary shit.

sorry i didn't want to write an essay about why North Korean leadership doesn't really want to start wars with their US-backed neighbors and instead develops nuclear arms and medium-range missiles for the purpose of deterrence and gaining further concessions from the UN for aid. The North Korean leadership is a little more calculating and sophisticated than a lot of people would like to believe with Kim Jong Il being kind of a joke in the west and all, it's not like they're some kind of death cult looking to provoke military action against themselves.
would it please you if I followed suit with everyone else and started saying that the sky was falling, they're gonna blow shit up, and we're entering another cold war with fucking north korea of all countries???
-
The kind of homework where you need to collect an article a week on North Korea and then at the end of the year write a paper on them.
-
well, time to do what i always do when i hear intresting news
time to make a rpgmaker game about n. korea
-
they'll release a phto to prove it soon of some kinda parade, and they'll very badly photoshop in a warhead.

No. I don't know a thing about North Korea, except that it's a complicated topic. The way you talked about it made it seem like a football game. It's difficult for me to take you seriously then. Explaining things is nice, though!
What you say about deterrence seems very true and logical to me. North Korea wants to join the club of nations that have any power at all in the world. It would be more difficult for me to swallow if, say, Zimbabwe managed to get a working nuclear program, because it's exactly that type of nation that would ignore the deterrence policy. What I didn't know is that it was possible for such a poor nation to be able to have it at all.

another article headlined WARNING TO THE SOUTH. Makes it seem a lot more drmaatic, thanks BBC :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't North Korea working on a missile a few years ago that they claimed could strike the west coast of the U.S.? If they've got that working and they do have weaponized plutonium, it could be big trouble for us.
-
yeah, because they'd really risk it.
-
You're soooo fucked now, guys. Hate to say it. :S
-
yay, time to turn south korea into an island

no it's not.
I dunno if its that people are reading too many tom clancy novels or what but North Korea would never under any circumstances, other than an unprovoked invasion, launch a nuclear warhead at the USA.
That would not make any sense at all and contrary to popular belief, the people running north korea aren't a bunch or insane crackpots looking to end the world
-
This is crazy. I wonder how we will handle the situation, esp. if they become aggressors again.
I dunno. If we get nuked, you think it's right to nuke them back?
-
psssst, what happened 8 years ago can someone fill me in? cheney?
he was elected?????
-
I thought N.K. ended their nuclear weapons program after we threatened to shove our warheads up their ass?
Maybe I'm remembering incorrectly but I could swear this was recent news.
