The trailer for Quentin Tarantino's new flick that he's been writing for the last 10 years or whatever just came out. Over the summer, it was randomly announced that it was going into production to be entered into Cannes, so this is being made real fast.
Inglorious Basterds trailer: http://movies.yahoo.com/premieres/11990378/standardformat/
I don't know about you, but to be honest I think this looks crazy as fuck. I...I love it...........
-
WHy are you all hating on this movie? Apparently it's not "cool" to like quentin tarantino movies anymore?
You're all gonna buy it anyway
-
it looks like complete garbage to me
WWII+NAZIS+GORE+BRADPITT=BOX OFFICE HIT
-
hahah this looks like a fun movie
-
what the hell...
-
I think the whole idea is that Tarantino is one of the few people who would take something like this comically. Its not a war movie, its a hyper-graphic depiction of hate, death, and murder, which means its going to be silly one way or another, and I think that is what Tarantino is trying to embellish. It looks fun. YEAH KILL SUM NAZIS
-
Looks promising!
-
I have to be honest, I think it looks pretty sweet. My only problem with that is the awful song playing in the trailer, so I hope the actual film has a better soundtrack. It's strange to see Brad Pitt playing a role of such an old person, but he is aging now...
-
I think Nazis are like the only people who you can show being mutilated for comic effect. That and Mongols I guess.
-
how is it set in germany? how is tarantino going to make a cameo and drop the n-bomb?

Where did you get the idea quentin will drop a nuclear bomb in his cameo? Care to share your source?
-
history
have you heard of it? crack open a book once in a while
-
I just wanna watch brad pitt and hitler get in a bare knuckle cage match in the middle of berlin square with the cage made out of polished jew bones and completely engulfed in fire and surrounded by miles of razor sharp razors everywher and naked chix in black leather thongs circling the cage on platforms and high heel boots with huge ass bazzokas and big fat titties blowin shit up and explodin babby nazis
-
adn att he very end of the movie hilter's gona be on his knees cryin like a big fat lozer and brad pitt'll be like, "heh, heil hitler...lol" and rip off his pants revealing a gintic bayonette where his D*ck should be and stab hitler thru the face with it just jumpin out the cage ninja style with an american flag as the whole place explodes into a massive fireball and hitler chunks rain down on the city like a hellish drizzle.
-
I’m not a fan of Quentin Tarantino... he tries too hard to make his movies old-school/retro/cliché, some people like that style, I never have. This movie does intrigue me though, im not so sure about Brad Pitt but I am sure about 1 thing... watching Nazi’s getting mutilated by seven rogue soldiers will be awesome, I can definitly imagine Tarantino going all out killing these Nazi's in some horrid way.
p.s. Coxswain you should write screenplays
-
I feel I've outgrown Tarantino movies, but they're still fun to watch. I had no idea that was Brad Pitt at first. Really bad role for him, that accent is terrible.
Maybe he'll make a chronological movie for once.

yeah that's the problem Tarantino movies are exactly like that except somebody just happened to film it
yeah I still thought Kill Bill was ok but this doesn't even look very funny
also this movie took hella long to come out when was kill bill like 2001 lol tarantino not culturally relevant anymore
but yeah white male heterosexual suburban college kids who like Rage Against the Machine will like this
Maybe he'll make a chronological movie for once.
no it'll probably jump at the end back to Hitler in art school and then like go to other wars throughout history then to a shot of some people playing Risk and quoting the bible randomly
also maybe Tarantino will play Truman and drop the ultimate n-bomb
-
Ugh, I thought this would be funny, but it was terrible. I can't stand tarantino.
-
phew I'm glad he isn't just making a portmonteau of several films
oh wait
-
He's really turning into an Uwe Boll in my eyes, what with his crazy movies and violence against critics.
Did anyone see Postal, by the way? It was kind of.... good.. in a fucked up kind of way.
-
Hans Landa was such an incredible character....
Everything this movie had going for it was DESTROYED in the oh-so-Tarantino way once we got to the ending.
-
I thought the ending was fantastic bro
Tarantino really emphasizes his attempt to create a ride where the end of the road does not necessarily line up with what the audience clearly expects to happen. This expectation, can often ruin whatever a film has going for it, such as Valkyrie, though based on a true story the suspense if completely cut off due to the audience external knowledge that Hitler was not killed in that assassination. Tarantino wants to give his audience a thrill, to give them something different, and that is what he did with that spectacular ending.
Plus that carving was the first and only time I actually felt some pleasure in seeing such gratuitous gore and violence

There are so many ways it could have been handled though. The final carving was the perfect way to wrap the story up, but the scenes before that where just awful. I don't remember it too clearly... but I'm pretty sure everyone, including the two Basterds in the room, where on fire while they where spraying everyone else with automatic fire. And smoke trick they used with the projector... when Shosanna Dreyfus was laughing in the demonic hologram... that pulled me out of the movie completely. Don't get me wrong, although I "knew" the ending I still wanted it to end like this... I wanted all three of their plans to succeed (Hans' included, just to see what they meant by "debriefing")... but the way it actually played seemed ridiculous. I loved the movie up until this point.

like i'm not sure what you are trying to say the "smoke trick" was michael lighting the nitrate film strips on fire and i don't see how a film of somebody is the same as a demonic hologram
-
afaik the screen was the first thing to burn down... her face being projected onto the smoke in a cheesy display thereafter
