Title: Steam help
Post by: Liquid Ocelot on February 12, 2009, 09:49:12 pm
Steam is failing me. I wanted to get the Golden Eye Source beta 3 but i need a thing called "Source SDK base". Now it says for me too look under the tools tab in Steam to find it, but it is nowhere to be found on the list. Here is a picture of the situation at hand:

Do you see it on the list?! I sure as hell fucking don't! If someone could aid me in this, that would be very appreciated.

I think you need HL2 to get the SDK. Or any Valve source games. I know that you need one of the Orange Box games to get the Orange Box SDK so you prolly do need the right game(s).

But since you are trying to get Golden Eye Source I assume you have HL2 or some variant like CSS or DOD or something?

No there is an orange box-free version of SDK. My friend has Golden Eye source on his laptop and it has no source games on it.

But Golden Eye Source is a HL2 mod and thus requires it or some other source game.

indeed but if you get the non-orange box SDK, you can play it without a Source game you just need the source files, which of course the new beta gives you. It is a mystery to me why SDK is not fucking appearing, and it is really ticking me off >

It doesn't matter wether the games are installed on his machine or not, if he bought a Source game, it'll be there regardless.

You need one of these games (http://store.steampowered.com/search/?category2=16) purchased for your account before it will show up in the tools page. You don't need them installed, but you have to have purchased one.
