Its official, the rumors were true. A Dead Space game is indeed coming too the wii here is a trailer and information:
http://www.joystiq.com/2009/02/18/ea-announces-dead-space-extraction-for-wii-coming-this-fall/
Now from what I have seen and read, the good news is that it looks pretty good for a wii game. The monsters as well look like the ones from the 360 version and the lighting is great. Its great to see a good looking wii game in motion every once and a while, it really pushes the limit of what the console can do. Bad news, however is the fact that it will be a rail shooter. Now even though that is not bad news for most people, Dead Space was a survival/horror shooter along the lines of Resident Evil 4. Yeah those games had rail shooters too, but practically all of them(except Umbrella Chronicles) were shit. I just don't see how Dead Space can be a rail shooter, even though EA said they were going to put many interesting factors in the game(no doubt the strategic limb removing will still be there). Still, even though I cannot trust it, I will keep an eye on this one.

I don't understand why they keep pushing on-rails shooters. Keep them in the arcade!

You do realize that the arcade is almost totally extinct right? If it's as good as some of the other shooters I've played on the Wii, this could turn out really good.

I would rather have those than fucking mini game collections

i was about to bump the other topic for this.
hmmm lets see whats the best thing we did in the original game?
well sir we had an almost total player immersion
I see
get rid of that and make house of the dead.
-
they needed money
making a wii game is an easy sidejob to rack in money
-
I was annoyed that it was going to be Wii only since I don't have one nor the money to buy one right now and I love Dead space. I now know that it is on rails... and now I couldn't give 2 shits about it.

Touché.
So it seems either way is a lose-lose. I guess we just have to wait for Nintendo to release the next in their franchises.
-
it's a wii game, of course it's going to be dumb and arcadey

for once i actually agree with steel on something. the two biggest highlights of dead space for me were the survival horror elements (for the first half anyway) and the total immersion of the game. this looks like a really cheap typical bullshit EA cash in on a franchise, and seems to have barely anything at all in common with dead space. the immersion is completely gone and i hear this has co-op as well which, combined with it being a rails shooter, means there won't be any survival horror whatsoever.
i have absolutely zero hope for this being a good game in any way.
-
They must be scraping the bottom of the barrel if they started cashing in on something that isn't even 2-3 solid games. I mean Resident Evil has like 12 games under it's belt, while Dead Space has 1 (soon to be 2) and I just don't see Dead Space being a gorilla.
-
Oh well at least Dead Space got one good game before EA ran it into the ground.

Yeah, I don't trust this project at all. EA seems to be doing this with all of it's good franchises today, even(admittedly) battlefield. Don't make Bad Company 2 EA/DICE, make Battlefield 3 already!

Electronic Arts more like Cap Com

challenge everything, we see farther, it's in the game

i get the feeling this is a really good post but i don't know what it means!

its all of EA's slogans.

To be honest, I haven't seen an EA advertisement in a while, do they really still have that as their slogan?
-
edit: oops, accidentally quoted....how do you delete posts?

Plemiums only, and I hear the slogan in the PS2 games I still have with EA games I own (the ones I own are the good, fun ones they make occasionally). And video previews of new games in the future.
