http://www.myspace.com/chriscornell
I just sat and listened to this and being a fan of a handful of Soundgarden songs and the first Audioslave album I don't know what quite sure to think of it.
The first song is utter shit but I kind of like the single scream. Its too dumb and poppy pretty much though, but I like the attempt he made to keep with current music (I guess?). I've always liked his voice but this sounds pretty ridiculous and funny. I guess he's never written his own lyrics or just GAVE UP trying, because this is pretty weak.
dunno, maybe he got the idea IF I DUMB MY MUSIC DOWN MAYBE THE YOUNGSTERS WILL LIKE IT?

I like this song.
It reminds me of my ex fiance back in 1993 when we were driving back to Puyallup, WA on SR 512 and I tried to kick her out of my Geo Storm GSi while in the number #1 lane (Of coarse I stopped) in an attempt to give her the break down lane to get out ... Damn Bitch wouldn't get out and I was trying to throw her ass out, and then we were rear ended by a drunk.
I got a negligent driving charge handed to me by the courts reduced from a .08 DUI charge.
The Bitch was a Mental Case
hahaha man i love youtube comments

From the wikipedia entry for Cornell - Timbaland has referred to the recording sessions as "The best work I've done in my career," and predicted that Cornell will be the "first rock star in the club". Cornell called the new album "a highlight of my career."
<shakes head>
If I sort of tune out some of what he's saying on Scream, and dial the "new age" sound back a little in my head - then I actually enjoy the vocal sound.
The acoustic version is better (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H5zdftHE6E)

I acquired the whole album and put it on my mp3 player. The songs all flow into each other pretty well. Some are MUCH better then others, almost bordering on good. For background, or driving music, it's actually pretty good. The production never really buries the vocals or gets in the way too much.
Nothing really genre-pushing or ground breaking in any way though.
It got me to dust off my Soundgarden discs. I realized that Chris Cornell has always been hit & miss. An example would be Soundgarden covering Smokestack Lightning. It starts off okay, his voice kinda fits it pretty well - then they go some strange places with it by the end that make it sound like Hendrix + Glam notes.
Anyway, if someone likes Chris Cornell's voice, they can get through the new cd easily and find a few tracks they'll end up liking along the way.

I liked his voice and what he was singing
now he's got the same voice and is singing terrible music. It doesn't matter that the instruments aren't horrible when he's singing about some stupid shit I could see on mtv or hear from some shitty pop band. And adding some crappy synth shit to it, he's completely dumbed his music down and just made it as pop bullshit as he possibly could.

A true master can turn his hand to any genre. And this, my friends, is a true master

I realized the first song, at least until the vocals come in, sounds like bad video game music. It reminds me of the song in that bar in Rise of the Dragon.
I found this pretty accurate... (http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:hzftxztkldae)
