Has anyone had the chance to try this out yet, I’ve only just discovered it and am currently downloading it now.. its a free feature and seems like it could be very practical and useful, its almost a sort of limbo in-between games while playing on the ps3.
A quick description from wiki if you dont know what this is... would have included a video but dunno how to embed them.
Wiki
"PlayStation Home is a community-based service and has been in development since early 2005 and started an open public beta test in December 2008. Home allows users to create a custom avatar, decorate their avatar's personal apartment ("HomeSpace"), play mini-games, shop, watch videos, attend special events and more. Users can use Home to connect with friends, explore the 3D world, and customise content."

Whats the verdict?

I remember there were two preview posts for this, one made by me way back. No one ever talked about it though, now that it's out. I do recall thinking it looked like Habbo Hotel mixed with PS3. But I guess there are some arcade/club multiplayer games (like pool, iirc?) and that it's pretty good looking, so I guess as long as the people aren't dipshits (but i'm sure they are) it could be fine.
I'm probably (unless things go wrong) renting a PS3 next week so since this is free (iirc(mostly at least)) I'll give this a try.

I want to hang out with shadowstalker16 and psychosocial8

Been playing around with this for a short while now and its really not that bad, its very smooth and at the moment no glitches. Spent an hour or so playing pool and also some bowling, the arcade machines arnt great but give you something extra to do.
Everything looks very smart and clean but i have already come across a few things I think are ridiculous like how if you want to furnish your apartment with new furniture and items then you must go to the mall and buy what you want with real cash. Dont get me wrong the mall looks great and being able to check out the shops with new clothes and gear are impressive but having to pay for these items seems stupid and just a cheap way to make some extra cash for Sony.

If some people actually buy that shit they are dumb beyond salvation.

what are you talking about ds, solidsnakejej and me can hang by the bubble machine now. any price is worth it

I do believe people did buy credits with real money in Habbo Hotel and this isn't much different, I think Sony realized that idea and just decided to use it!

Cool, a big commercial you can walk around in!
-
I was never really hyped by it, but I was surprised that after all this time and development, it's just a piece of shit.

lol Homespace
I'm going to go to the workoffice in my drivecar and use the talkphone

Seems like Second Life. I don't like this whole thing.
This reminds me I didn't ran Folding@Home for quite some time. Now here's a productive way to use your PS3 when not playing games: listen to elevator music and FIGHT CANCER AT THE SAME TIME.
Speaking about awesome.

Now that's what I'm speaking about!

Playing chess in the park by the fountains isnt so bad when you got nothing else to do. I tried second life and although I hated that, I can see alot of improvement from that to this.. although this is just something to do while your not playing games, its definitly worth the price.
erm yeah its free.

Me and my friends went on this to check it out. I made a girl avatar and started enticing all the fellas. One guy was really interested in me, and keep in mind this was me my bros, and 3 of my friends. We made a backstory about the girl and her life. She's asian, 16, and left her last boyfriend because he wouldn't do her.
He started spilling his heart out to us. We gave him my bro's phone # and sent him texts of some azn honey from the web. Then things got sexual. He asked if she ever got touched etc. This went on for hours.
We eventually told him that we weren't 1 girl but rather 6 dudes just having a good time. He said he was crushed and then started textin me bro the few following days asking what "that was all about." I guess he didn't get it. We found his myspace, and apparently he's a mulotto blood.
This is the dude:

got nothing else to do? idk why don't you PLAY A PS3 GAME? is the PS3 library so bad that you have to sit around playing chess with your virtual avatar when you could just play it online or real life a hundred of other ways? if you're using your PS3 then why do you have nothing else to do?

this post pretty much sums up my feelings on this. it's just a better looking, less accessible second life without all the custom user-made content
at least second life has the porno district with virtual sex shops and the greatest bed ever made (http://freewebs.com/iruka/dragonbed.jpg)

I dunno, home is a pretty useless piece of software. I guess you know, if you like to SOCIALIZE it'd be cool, but like people usually SOCIALIZE when playing a real game anyways.
-
Not a joke post, it's a true story yall.

I downloaded this out of curiosity and just thought that it's so amazingly shite. If the PS3 had as good a friends system as the 360 you might be able to jump into more games with friends but their answer to this seems to be a second life clone. They need to get their shit together and make the XMB an easier to use, less laggy interface.
The feeling of pointlessness you get from "playing" this is incredible.

OK, unless you know who you're playing with, Home is currently pretty useless. I mean, I went in with a friend to test it out and make a clubhouse etc. I walked by some guys dancing around a bubble machine and they called me a fag on their mic. Then in the movie theatre, I tried watching a movie from a seat, only to have like three people just stand in front of me so I couldn't see. It's not as if there's lag, they KNOW they're doing it. It's just a giant sausage-fest and jerk-fest mixed in one. Sure there's bowling and shit, but you can't practice on your own unless you have a clubhouse fit with the games. So you have to wait around until the lane / table / arcade is available.
And yeah, it was KIND OF cool to post shit on the club bulletin, and join Warhawk with my buddy... but are we going to wait through the painful load times of Home just to check that shit, when we have a messaging system we can access while playing an actual game? No way in hell. Besides which, I know who plays what. They can see what I'm playing etc. And the majority of online games have an invite feature... so there's really no reason to play Home, unless you're heavily into online avatar chatting.
