http://blog.last.fm/2009/03/24/lastfm-radio-announcement
This really sucks for anyone outside of those three areas. Not that I use Last.FM radio alot, but it still sucks to not have that option anymore on the odd occasion that I would use it. Nonetheless, I'm sure this move will piss a lot of people off.
What do you guys think?

Sucks for a lot of people but I have subscribed for a long time already so this doesn't affect me. Also, I hardly ever listen to last.fm radio anyway.
-
fucking hell
first pandora was all loloops only america, and now last.fm is "give monies" WHAT AM I TO DO
-
get spotify
if it's available wherever you live!
-
UK :). I listen to recommendation and psychedelic radio quite a bit when reading comics, so this would've annoyed me.
-
topic title is misleading :/
-
sucks 4 u.

isnt spotify supposed to be pay2use once its out of beta?

WEB 2.0 IS DYING!
EVERYBODY PANIC!
But seriously, I am surprised that they actually have a business model.

like isn't the appeal of all these places that you can get free crap
yeah youtube we're now going to charge you 50 cents for each time you look at a youtube poop
fuck I think I deleted one or two albums because I knew I could listen on last.fm if I wanted to
well there's still those youtube videos that are actually just a still picture and are essentially an mp3 of the song
Edit: wow topic title is misleading f you
but still same difference aren't there enough sites like this where French people etc. can just hop on another site and still get free stuff and tell last.fm to jump up their butt
-
oh no now i can't tell the internet what i'm listening to because everybody on the internet wants to know
really though, it seems like they'd be losing a lot of their userbase, since a lot of the people i've seen on last.fm aren't really from those three countries (all that much at least)
-
It's only for the radio anyways. Plus, Last.FM has become a little crappy recently. The "similar" bands system has gone down the crapper. It's still useful and if you want to listen to a band you can just go on their myspace or acquire their CDs anyways.

not that i know. at the moment it's free but you can also pay to get rid of ads. dunno if it does anything else.
-
in all seriousness this is pretty stupid! then again they were begging for cash not too long ago (I believe this is when DS bought his subscription).
-
i have been subscribing since june 2006.

it's just the radio service, not the scrobbling

proof that atari only reads topic titles....
-
I find it rather silly and annoying how we are an internet society/generation, but many sites use geographical locations to limit their content. What gives? Add Last.FM to the list of sites that many people will be using HotSpotShield and proxies for.

content rights holders are the ones who restrict their content to locations, and in this case it's a matter of monetary feasibility. why don't you try learning instead of just whining?
-
the reason last.fm is still free in germany, uk and america is because they get enough money from the advertisement to cover the costs.
-
hahaha, fuck you all
