www.filefront.com
This is not a lie, on march 30th File Front is shutting down. The economy hit them pretty hard, now they have to shut down. I love File Front, it is the most accessible game/add on downloading site I have ever been on, seeing it shut down is kinda disappointing :/. Any forum member that have important files, RECOVER THEM NOW or else you will never see them again.
note: I posted this in the video games forum because this is a downloading site that is mainly for gaming. Also, if someone made a topic of this already please lock it as I didn't see one.

Yea it is posted in projects & announcements.
Should have been here though.

my bad, didn't see it :/
-
its cool bro, i have that whole section collapsed.
also this is too bad, i had a free premium thing to filefront for a year or a few months or something, i never used it very often but it was a good site.
-
am i the only one who rarely if ever used this.
-
who cares exactly? the only thing i ever saw filefront used for was random game patches and wow pvp videos
-
filefront was a good host for a lot of modding communities :|
oh well, there'll be others.
-
i mean, what's wrong with rapidshare/megaupload/all those others now?
-
nothing really, it was just nice to not have a wait/limits/etc.
i shouldnt have really said "there'll be others", i meant more like.. the mod/etc sites will just migrate to other websites.
still, is always sad to see useful websites ive used in the past die :<
-
i never liked filefront for some reason, i don't remember ever using it unless i couldn't find the file anywhere else
-
Filefront hosted like all of the JKII/JKIII:JA mods files at that Jedi Knight modding database site or whatever.. I remember that, but that was pretty much all I used it for.
-
Yeah, I've pretty much only ever used filefront if no other mirrors are available. I couldn't really care less about it shutting down...these things happen with sites. There's better sites out there for pretty much everything now anyway

It's mainly for gamers. It was good for frapses (user created ingame video, it streamed AND gave you the option to download in the original quality), mods, hacks, demos... it was good for game related file sharing in general. I didn't use it much any more (read: for gamers) but it still sucks to see it go.

its april the first the next day.
theres a chance.
but tbh, i never used this place.

No, there isn't. There are 31 days in March.

File Front is alive and well guys.
FileFront has been acquired by the original founders of the site and will NOT be suspended as previously announced. This is NOT an April Fool's Joke.
I'm amazed noone else posted this.
-
And yup, definately no april fools joke, I can confirm that.
However I found my main problem with this site: no pausing and resuming. Trying to DL Archlord with internet which decided to cut out at 50% through the dl is not fun >.>

i mean, what's wrong with rapidshare/megaupload/all those others now?
waiting periods, download limits, and filefront was always really fast (you could get 600kb/s from FF and MAYBE 150 from any of the others on a good day)
plus rapidshare and megaupload download viruses to your computer
-
Rapdishare and MegaUpload are zetta-slow in comparison to FileFront. I was mildly shocked to learn that FF was closing down, but glad when I learned that the original founders had taken it back.

plus rapidshare and megaupload download viruses to your computer
lol
-
You sure this isn't a joke?
-
it wasn't a joke. it was repurchased by the individual owners. hence. its indepedant and safe. for now.
-
lol
why is this an lol. it's been confirmed on some tech blogs that rapidshare embeds adware in some of their files
-
random blogs = truth underground
-
I think its staying around, just back to original ownership?
