Basically I'm making this topic as a way to see what it's like in other areas where GW members are from. Not to mention I'd like to see if there are any other areas as fucked up as Erie County where I live.
Just post the main headline of your local newspaper and a brief summary of what it's about.
Here's mine:
Erie police try to remove video from YouTube
Before the YouTube video of an off-duty Erie police officer was locally circulated and Mayor Joe Sinnott was notified of its existence, the police internal-affairs investigator was working with the videotaped officer to find the source of the video and get it removed from the Internet.
Internal-affairs Inspector James DeDionisio was accompanied by the officer in the video, Patrolman James Cousins II, on Tuesday when he questioned the brother of the man who posted the video on April 6.
The brother said DeDionisio warned him to find a way to have the video removed from the Web, and told him police were pursuing a possible wiretapping case against the person who posted it.
Full Story Here. (http://www.goerie.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090417/NEWS02/304179948)
They were unsuccessful getting the video removed since the DA refused to file a complaint with Youtube. Not that it would matter. It's extremely easy to download videos from the site so someone else would just post it again if it was taken down.

Ahahaha. I was just gonna say that my town is pretty small and not interesting, checked for boring news and found this (http://tv.hn.se/player/play/83725). There's been a swan that was hurt by some animal and just swam around in our river so my hometown decided to save it. Ahahahaha, they RUN RIGHT IN IT WITH A FUCKING BOAT and just as they hit it, he's like "OH FUCK!!".
I guess this is our equivalent to the american firefighters during 9/11.
edit
They actually wrote in the newspapers that this was dramatic

TALLAHASSEE — Former House Speaker Ray Sansom was indicted on a charge of official misconduct Friday by a grand jury critical of a process that allowed him to slip a $6 million plum into the state budget for a big Republican donor.

Sansom was booked into the Leon County Jail Friday afternoon and released on his own recognizance.
If convicted, the Destin lawmaker faces up to five years in prison on the felony charge.
Also indicted was Northwest Florida State College President Bob Richburg on a charge of official misconduct. In addition, he was charged with perjury, for his role in and testimony about getting $6 million in state money for what was billed as an education building, but jurors said was plainly an aircraft hangar.
Sansom, who resigned as speaker in January, landed a $110,000-a-year job at the college, a position the grand-jury report said was part-time and not advertised, so “no other candidates were considered.”
The grand jury described its revulsion at a budget process reviewed only by a handful of legislative leaders.
It said an initial appropriation for $1 million in improvements to the Student Services Building at Niceville instead became $25.5 million for the college at Sansom’s behest in a phone call to former Sen. Lisa Carlton, R-Osprey, who headed the Senate budget committee.
State Attorney Willie Meggs said Richburg implausibly told the grand jurors that building an aircraft hangar and emergency-management complex 15 miles from the Niceville campus was a “multi-use educational facility.”
The grand jury report cited a “strong inference” that it was payback for Panhandle developer Jay Odom.
Scathing report
The blistering 10-page presentment from the grand jury members voiced shock at the political-pork system that allows presiding officers, budget committee chiefs and a few other top bosses bring home tax-funded trophies for their districts and do favors for powerful cronies.
Odom, who contributed more than $1 million to the state GOP and Sansom’s political causes, was not accused of any legal violation but the grand jury said back-scratching among corporate honchos and politicians is a symptom of a deeply rooted malady.

Great. Thanks for making this topic and reminding me the video of Mr. "Cut the Ears and Tails off of his Puppy" is gone. That was my favorite of all our local news stories, just because that dude looked like a man who had been born from several generation of Kentuckians that had no interaction with any other humans.
This was the best one recently: http://www.thetimestribune.com/archivesearch/local_story_096090111.html
Local PETA member protests circus -- Lone woman stood in parking lot over animal cruelty issues
It was better when it had the picture though, because this woman looked like a meth addict standing like death himself alone in an empty parking lot

WELL KNOWN FARMER STEVE JENSON AT A LOSS FOR... SHEEP?
Farmer Steve Johnson awoke to find one of his sheep has disappeared from his flock. Steve Jenson, well known for his pasture tips at the local bar and karaoke team with the prime minister, has had a similar instance in his early career "but never for this long" he says. The prime minister says she will personally keep a look out, and has instructed both the military and the airforce to standby in case we need to use his boat.
i watched the news the other night and it featured a commentary on a national MP's visit to a school campus which went... as they always do.
