Smash World is dead set on the idea that Ness will be replaced by Lucas, who is the hero from the third Earthbound game. I hate the idea, I think Ness is a veteran and since there are no more Earthbound games coming out, it would be pointless to switch to a new character. What do you guys think?

I agree, but Sonic has a little more momentum than Snake. I expect some kind of video at an E3 or something. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Sonic baddies turn out to be a part of the adventure plot, as I wouldn't be surprised if Dede or K. Rool were. That being said, some of the baddies do suspiciously look like MM/Sonic influenced grunts, but in the same breath the whole Emissary thing reeks with the stench of Heartless.

If Sonic is included, and I'm hoping he is, he's going to be need to be released soon, before the commercials/final trailers are released. I doubt such a climactic character would be included as a secret character when the games marketability will practically skyrocket if he is announced. I have no idea what events are coming up, but if theres an E3 or something of the sort between now and Dec 3rd, that'll either make or break him.

Because of how popular Sonic is, and because of how high the demand is for him in this game, it would be a huge mistake for him to not be included, and an even bigger mistake for him to not be announced before the game is released. Undoubtedly, there will be people who buy the game because they are fans of sonic, not of smash bros. Imagine how much press this game will get when Sonic is announced.


Also: Ice Climbers are back, which is cool, because there were a lot of rumors that they and G&W were removed.

I don't know the composers well, but since the squarenix composer is involved, isnt there a better chance that Geno is in the game? After all Geno tied in Sakurai's poll with Diddy and Ike, so I wouldnt be surprised if Square's composer means a square character.

Diddy gives me hope for Banjo, but I'm glad Diddy/Dixie wasn't a combo character like some of the rumors suggested.
