im sorry but netherlands is pretty much the only scandinavian country outside of scandinavia

anyway being a foreign student and studying in a foreign country rocks. i was lucky enough to be allowed 6 weeks in st petersburg, russia, studying russian language as part of my computer science degree(!). it was f*in great, but i think the major reasons for that was how different russia is from norway in many ways, plus the fact that i was placed in a small appartment with an old russian lady that spoke only russian except for about 30 words in german.

but ive been to a lot of clubs that have gogo-dancers/strippers that strip down to their panties.

i guess its kind of a different setting than in a strip-club, whereas in strip clubs the dancers often dance on a scene with a pole or something and guys sit on chairs in front of the scene.

the places i have been to are more of the kind dark with neon lights and a packed dancefloor with plateaus going up from the dancefloor on which the dancers are. in that setting, it makes a lot of sense to have them there. it's part of the package.

but yeah this is maybe too far off from strip clubs to be relevant?

I saw this yesterday and imo it was pretty much Transformers 2007 in Star Trek's universe.

Whatever that means.

I really don't like the MODERN ACTION/COMEDY VIBE or whatever. This was way better than Transformers, though. But they kind of fit in the same ACTION TYPE VIBE or whatever, with that quirky modern hollywood humour and booming sub bass during action scenes.

Also there was kind of a subtle Starship Troopers vibe there at times, and the entrance to the snow planet base really seemed like a reference to Aliens. That's pretty cool.

the proficiency test for being able to study norwegian? I didn't know there was one, but I think it's pretty easy. Or do you mean the proficiency test for the music line? Because at least Norwegian students have to prove their worth by playing in front of the professors but I dunno if that applies for foreign students or if they just need references or anything at all.

NTNU is pretty sweet too and the music conservatory is in downtown meaning it is very central and awesome. Are you considering a full grade or just a year?

To answer your first question, one of my friends is probably going to begin studying Music Technology this fall (I applied last year but my appliance was rejected... but I'm studying civil engineering which is not a bad plan 2). So yeah maybe you guys will be best friends 8)

dont forget to holla out if you come to Trondheim though. Jazz drumming is awesome and a lot of my friends are musicians so maybe you will fit right in with my friends (so you at least know SOME Norwegians). just be prepared for a pretty cold winter (it's doable, but gets pretty cold january-february)

You're thinking of going to Trondheim, which means you're probably thinking of NTNU? NTNU is a pretty good place to study if you're going to do technology. I'm currently studying there (and will keep doing so for a few more years) so if you have any questions feel free to ask. If you do come, we have to meet up. Adolph also used to live in this city but he was recently evicted but I suppose he's getting a new visa soon.

Anyway what will you be studying? Tuition fee is like 300kr here (roughly 40$) but I'm not sure if it's more expensive for foreign students (I'm assuming it's not but you'd better check it out).

edit2: also holm what are you on about. public school is pretty shit in Norway but the universities are of high standard, especially the university of oslo and NTNU. also it is not very expensive to study, I use tops $12'000 a year everything included (shelter, food, books, transportation, beer, parties EVERYTHING). it is very cheap.

oslo is an expensive city but trondheim is pretty average for western europe


also for money you can get a student assistant job which pays about $2000 per semester for doing very small amounts of work. it's not a lot of money but it's pretty much rent for like 4-5 months.

I still play this every once in a while, mostly on hamachi or garena though (battle.net blows)

Seriously, get GArena. It is the best for dota, and has a pretty good community compared to Battle.net, as well as better in-game culture (people don't quit as much as in battle.net, although it's still too common and people aren't too busy talking down to whoever is doing bad).

I'm in either way though, I love dota.

existenz was a bit of a mindfuck for me. it's pretty weird, since the production kind of distanced me from it through most of the beginning but suddenly i felt a bit fucked up by it.

i wouldnt call it depressing though. just mindfucking.
