I don't think FF14 has any PVP at all, FF11 barely did but barely anyone did pvp for the years I was playing. However you could delevel in FF11 from dieing too much, and a raise spell just to get back some of the xp you lost, so if you wanted to really be a dick, you could drag monsters into someone else's party to try and kill them.

I don't think Tactics is a prequel. As I said before, my memory is fuzzy, and I guess it does make sense that the beginning of Tactics story takes place before FO2, but they are so loosely related, its hard to really consider it a prequel, or even a sequel. Its just a game that happens to take place in the same world I guess(and has probably been ignored in the greater continuity of the series).

Its been a long time since I've played through either game(actually, those two are the only FO games I've beaten... FO3 can suck it, but i do want to finish 1 and NV some time), but to the best of my recollection, there are no real spoilers in FO:T about FO2. That said I'd still suggest playing FO2 first, just because Tactics has the better battle system(mostly in that you actually control all your party members) and going back to FO2 might be annoying. Also, keep in mind FO:T is pretty much all about the battles, with all the dialog and such taking a back seat(they even removed a few dialog skills so they could add driving or something).

Your first persona story sounds like mine, except I started with Eternal Punishment. Anime in my video games? I thought this was so amazing at the time. Thankfully Persona 2 had a lot more going for it, and I became a fan almost instantly. Then they made Persona 3.... *sigh* I did beat the game and even started playing through 'The Answer' or w/e the expansion thing is called, but I was still very disappointed with it. Thankfully Persona 4 was a decent improvement, still not what I wanted, but fixed a few of my problems with 3, enough to make me not feel as disappointed with the Persona series. Which is good because I suspect they are gonna keep making them in this style for some time(please prove me wrong Atlus).

As for the SMT games... I beat both the DDS games, which I loved, but the 'main' series, despite playing several of them to damn near completion, I've never actually beat any of them. If my damn PS2 didn't crap out on me I'd probably go play Noctune right now(emulation of it sadly crap, and I can't use my ps2 controller on my PC anymore, making it annoying to even play).

Sometimes I wonder if I'm even watching the same show...

Anyways, the show is pretty great and that's all there is to say about that.

The demo is crap, it can really be ignored unless you use the demo editor to change your characters and enemies... even then that only effects the second battle so you have to go through the first one(thankfully you can turn tutorials off in the full game, you lose out on a free leveled up character, but they are a waste of time.). The actual game is a lot more fun, but even as some one who never beat UFO Defense, I'd say if you can still get enjoyment out of that, it probably is the better option.

woah how do you do that???? i would totally be doing that
Sadly you must have preordered the game to get that option. though i think you also get it if you got the first copies of the game that came out? idk. might be(hopefully free) dlc later.
And yes game is great, got tried of customizing my guys after i lost all the ones i started with... though i do have a guy i pick up off a mission very early in the game that just won't die(but has kill one civilian and one team member thanks to wildy inaccurate rockets... seriously one went like 45 degrees of course, that pissed me off).

I have a Skype Account. But I do not have it install on my PC and rarely used it when I did. But it definitely could be useful for running this game.

I was also thinking Ventrilo as a possibility if we wanted to use a voice service but we'd have to use someone's server for it instead of just connecting to each other, Skype may actually be the simpler option.
I actually use skype for my other games, between the simple voice chat and the auto-chat logging, it is pretty good.

Ohhh... Saturday isn't so good for me, while getting up early isn't a big deal, I actually have another game planned for later in the day(should start at roughly 6 pm pst, maybe 7.), if the game ends before that, I guess that would be fine, but if at all possible I'd like to avoid 2 games in one day(if not... well see who it things go I guess).

I actually knew about the selecting a specific gun type, I just forgot to actually add it to the sheet apparently.(which, I just updated: http://i.imgur.com/w4yNF.png )
The time seems pretty good for me btw.

Okay, here is an extremely messy character sheet I am sure I did several things wrong with, and really isn't quite done. Doing this at 2 in the morning was probably not the best idea.

I could probably join in depending on the schedule you guys plan(shouldn't be too much of a problem, my schedule is really open), but I've got couple online pnp games I'm playing(and one I'm gming) that it probably wouldn't hurt to skip this one if someone else is interested. Also, I've yet to even start reading the GURPS book... probably try to get started today or tomorrow whether or not I'm joining.

What I've been using for games online is maptools http://www.rptools.net/

Anyway Biggles your program looks interesting I think I'll play around with it

This is actually what I use as well. Decent system if you just use it for the basic stuff, potential for being amazing if you going deep into it though(though this can cause problems for people on slower computers if you go to far...).

Haha this is awesome I really enjoy reading your posts.

I should probably get onto IRC sooner or later, I'd like to play in a game for once since I'm usually stuck Dming :P (Not that I really mind)
I don't have a lot of physical table top games, I got Donkey kong Jenga, an army of Tyranids and then my old 3.5 D&D books, and AD&D

Recently I've been DMing this http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Pokemon_Tabletop_Adventures It's pretty sweet I've been running the same group for almost a year now.

And don't think for a second they're just going around saving the world from Team rocket! they're in a post apocalyptic earth where humans are nearly extinct from a war they started and fought with Pokemon that ended up with the world being blasted back to the dark ages!

I always wanted to try that one out, but I'm not sure I could get people interested in it, and even if I could, I'd probably end up having to be the DM and I really don't think I could handle DMing two different games at once(or probably even the same game).

I've played in one rl session of D&D, but lately I've been playing a lot of D&D and pathfinder online(not the MMO) the last few years, actually starting with an IRC campaign here.

Other then that, I don't play much in the way of table top games, though I have been watching Table Top for a while now and there are more then a few games I wouldn't mind trying out for myself.

Just finished a job challenge play though of FF5, and am now working on playing this FFT content patch. The patch changes a lot of stuff, making jobs that were kinda boring in the normal game actually interesting(Archer and Black Mage do some pretty cool stuff now), plus a bunch of other changes. The one i have also ups the difficulty by making story battles scale with your level as well as give enemies better equipment... at about the 5th battle in the game and getting my ass handed to me. There is also a version that has all the content without the difficulty, but i haven't given in yet.

It seems like a nice idea in theory (to me, anyway), but you're still choosing between the same three personality types (suave, professional, and ruthless, or something along those lines) each time, so you can still play through the game with a specific character type in mind, which kind of defeats the purpose to me but isn't really any worse than any other game that focuses on decision making like that.
In what I have played so far(finished the first major area, probably gonna start over though since I got the bug that makes it so I can't use any of my abilities...), I don't think that's true. Sure you can just be Suave the whole time or something, but to actually accomplish things in the game you have to judge what choice is the best response to a person, depending on their attitude and what is happening at the time. Not to mention, making people dislike you can apparently have positive effects as well. ...idk that's just one of the parts of the game I've really liked(so far), as oppose to, says, ME where I just picked paragon 90% of the time and called it a day.
