except that jedis were cloned, as proven in Timothy Zahn's thrawn series where Mara Jade has to fight a clone of Luke Skywalker, or Luuke. these clones also had a long shelf life and could be revived whenever (Joruus C'Baoth).

so shut up for fuck's sake don't make me whip out my Star Wars canon (darkest shame).
[/quoTE]

Is this the same canon that had the giant force-eating hamster, Boba Fett blasting his way out of the Rancor, Leia stronger than Luke in the force and a moon flattening Chewie?

"Anything not in the current version of the films is irrelevant to Film only continuity."  so you can keep your "canon" in your pants, as it has no bearing on the conversation at hand.

Heh, by claiming Spawn had more of a place as a guest character than anyone else (even Link), you are admitting that your complaint on the new star-wars characters is nothing more than bias, and does not have a basis grounded in logic or fact.

Maybe there are people that think Yoda and Vader fit in the Soul Calibur universe more than anyone else (even the characters original to Soul Calibur). If anyone came into this argument claiming that, their point would be exactly as valid as the one you just presented.
Unless, of course, you actually read Spawn and realize that there has been more than one Spawn, spanning back countless years over countless dimensions, so a Spawn character within the Soul Calibur universe could work (I didn't say that it was very plausible, just more plausible than the others).

You know what was great about the Star Wars movies?  That part where Vader and Yoda happily skipped off hand in hand into the great Time Machine from Clavin and Hobbes to arrive in the Soul Calibur timeline...oh, wait, that never happened...

Vader/Yoda could fit into Eternal Champions far better than Soul Calibur.  I wouldn't mind so much if they were downloadable additions that had nothing to do with the story of Soul Calibur, but once they get shoe-horned into it, that's when I take exception to it.

I'll just post what I had put in another forum:

"So I just heard on the intrawebz that Vader/Yoda were on respective systems for Soul Cal IV. I had such high hopes for the next game, but now that's been shot down. Apparently Namco has no faith in making a game good enough to sell based on its own name that it has to whore out the Soul Cal franchise to Lucas of all people to throw in characters that neither belong nor even make sense at all.

I thought that the guest characters in 2 were bad, Link being the worst of all, and yet now they throw these two in the game to throw out all semblance of having a good unique game. Why didn't Namco make a new kind of Super Smash Brothers with Yoda/Vader instead of ruining their own running series?

Well, I know that I'm most likely out. I was going to buy IV until I heard what Namco was doing. I hope they are full of fail with this iteration, I really do. If this really is the last of the series, and this is how they are ending it, then I honestly hope that their sales tank hard, to give them a wake-up call.

Maybe I'm coming off as a crying fanboy, but you know what: I'm was a fan of the series, and I didn't want to see them turn to this to sell their name instead of actually making a good game on its own merits. Who knows, maybe the game will actually turn out to be decent, and maybe Lord of the Rings would have been better had Peter Jackson made them all ride My Little Ponies into battle, or if Spongebob Squarepants had led the fight against the English in Braveheart, that would have turned into a better movie. I guess there's just as equal of a chance..."

That should be good enough for now.
