i liked to get drunk and play this game sometimes. i sold it all because it was bad for me but i liked to wander around and look at the desolation when i was up at 5am drunk and eating someone else's pasta from the fridge.

This. I made my character Obama and I'd hang out with two of my friends and we'd just hang out, take turns playing, and drink beer.

Don't get discouraged.  This kind of thing is hard to organize, and sometimes it takes a while for the contenders to get their matches together.  Even the big one we had when the game first came out started falling apart toward the end.

I think I did a pretty good job getting it together, but there was also a lot of excitement since it was a new game and all, so it was A LOT easier to get it all finished. I think I still have the brackets somewhere on my PC...lol.

But yeah, like halibabica said, don't get discouraged. Now that the weekend is starting, it should be much easier to get the matches out of the way.

Just let people duke it out whenever they get the chance.

Nemesis: When will you be free? And also, where do you live?

I added Sarhan, I'll be waiting online if he wants to fight me. I'll leave it on for a few hours.

Nemesis, would you be able to play sometime tonight? Between 7-9 PM central? I'm at school right now. Let me know and I'll go on and add ya if you can.

Oh, and for the tournament, I'm going to stick with Game and Watch I guess.

I guess the setup's fine, but I think you might want to reconsider the last match. Maybe do a one on one and then the winner of that playing a one on one with the odd man out, doing a 3 match set each time. Doing a 3 man free for all can lead to camping of just standing back and racking up damage whenever an opportunity presents itself.

Just a suggestion.

One last question and I'll stop bugging ya...are we doing sets (best 2 of 3, 3 of 5, etc.) or just one match per match-up?

Bum some cash off a friend or something. I'll probably record the ones I play if I can figure out how to get the recording hack set up. It's such a pain...

I don't know who I wanna play as...just out of curiosity, why did you go with the one character rule?

Sure man, you're on the list.

That is good and all but where do I get an sd card now, I am kinda broke :fogetlaugh:

Almost every electronics store carries them. They're like...15-30 dollars depending on where you go and how much memory you get.

Also, you're planning on doing a random bracket, right?

Guess I should set up wi-fi at my cousin's and start practicing. It's been a while.

I think I'm gonna jump in. Not sure about the character yet though. I'll find my friend code in a sec.

EDIT: Got it.

Oh, and as for recording, you can download a hack for Brawl that basically lets you eliminate the 3 minute limit for recording matches. Get that set up and just save the matches to an SD card.

Not too sure about any PC RPGs, but you can always try Breath of Fire 3 and 4 if you haven't already. Emulated of course.

I was wondering why nobody created a topic for this movie yet. Saw it at the midnight premiere and then again the next day (ex. gf and friend both wanted to see it with me) and it was a pretty damn good movie. One of Seth Rogen's better movies IMO. And James Franco plays an amazing pothead. Seriously. Hilarious movie.

It was so crazy at the midnight show though. Everybody there was like...16-24 or so and they were all high as hell. Good times.

Add me to that list. My partner's name is InfernoHit. We'll be playing from the same Wii.

Did you intend for that post to sound disgusting and wrong?

I think he was referring to the comments made in the generic Capcom RPG thread.

Eh, whether FFVII is overrated or not is debatable but it was an amazing game for its time. It was one of the most influential RPGs ever and it pretty much redefined the genre.

Games I find overrated:

Pretty much any of the Halo games. I've tried to give them a shot, both single and multiplayer, but I just cannot seem to get into them. Multiplayer is pretty shit unless you're playing on a giant TV, but then again, that's true with many split screen games.

I think I may now vomit in disgust. At least they aren't actually using RPG Maker.

I absolutely love how you can sneak in a stab at RPG Maker in every post you make. It's hilarious. The best part is, it never gets old. Never.

I've always wanted to play the Earthbound games but have never actually tried them for whatever reason. All of my friends that have played it are always saying how good it is. Good to hear it's coming out on VC. I'll probably buy it when it does come out.

I just hope it isn't over hyped. Hate it when that happens.

I went to a tournament this past weekend and had tons of fun. 21 people showed up. We did singles and doubles. Ended up getting knocked out in round 1 by the guy who won the tournament (named Cosmo, one of the best in the midwest, uses G&W), and almost the round in the losers bracket, but I picked Marth against a Wolf player, which was stupid of me. My Falco chain grab rocked his ass in the first round though. Easy 40-50%.

My teammate and I did better in doubles. Got a bye the first round, played against the Wolf player I mentioned above (Ctip) and his partner Pete Chen (also one of the best in the midwest) and we beat them, much to my surprise. My partner used G&W and I used Meta Knight, and man that combo is great and it rocks the space animals. Then we barely lost round 2. In the loser's bracket, we got KO'ed by the 4th place team (Tink, another great MW smasher, and his partner). Had tons of fun though. So many cool people there.

The next tournament I'm going to is on the 10th and it's called "Flippin' Pancakes." It's a random tournament with the greatest rules ever. For example, each player gets one pancake per match. They can use that pancake on either themselves or their opponent to force character reselection, but the person on whom the pancake isn't used has to stick with the random character they were given. We're also going to be doing teams and it's a pool style tourney, so everyone gets to play a ton of matches. I'm excited as hell.

By the way, if you guys are looking for local tournaments, head to allisbrawl.com. Don't know if many of you are avid smashers, but for those that are, it's a great site to find tournaments and local players.

In my opinion I think that a brawl tournament should have only brawl maps.

By that logic, we should only allow Brawl-exclusive characters.

Not a fan of the map choices. Why no melee maps?

As for partners, I'll get a buddy of mine to join me. We went to a brawl tournament today and did pretty good as a team, so hopefully we can do the same online.

So is this going to be an anything goes partnership tourny, as in I can be partners with a GW member or one of my friends?
It seems kinda sloppy that way, but I suppose it'll be much easier to find a partner of my own.

I haven't played team battles with wii friends before, do I need to be friends with your partner too, if it were someone outside of GW?

edit: someone should do a character specific tournament too

No, you don't need to be friend's with your opponent's partner. You actually don't even need to be friends with the opponent as long as your partner is. You can just join his game.

What do you mean by character-specific? Like everyone uses the same character?

My idea for a tourney if I haven't mentioned it before: random characters.
