£560, not including bills but no council tax. It's a pretty standard rent for where it is in London.

A new 5 episode Monkey Island game made by Telltale and a remake of The Secret of Monkey Island. I don't like the new graphical style but having a voice cast should be great.

No, every Trek movie has had a theatrical release. And as to them being progressively worse, the best Trek was the 8th one, First Contact. There's something I've heard of that people call the Trek "Curse", and it's basically that every odd numbered movie is bad. This pretty much holds up - my favourite movies are 2, 4, and 8, and my least favourite are 3, 5, and 9.

Yeah, this curse is pretty well known. Ironically, Simon Pegg stated it ten years ago in a TV show called Spaced, and now he's actually in an odd-numbered Star Trek film.

Sorry to everyone who likes Jack Black, but I hate him to no end. Don't really know why but I never really got the hype surrounding pick of destiny and I certainly don't get the hype surrounding this game ...

We're hyped about this game because it's written by Tim Schafer, not because Jack Black is in it.

I don't really like that Jack Black is in it but hopefully it'll give it some star appeal so people will actually buy it, unlike Psychonauts.

The guys who set up the Introversion games company studied at my university and are letting some undergrads here contribute to their next game as part of a summer internship. I applied for it but I haven't heard back yet. The money's not great but it'll be enough to pay for rent and food so it'd be enough.

Also, what you're planning reminded me of the summer my brother spent in Denmark picking flowers. It does sound really idyllic on paper but it was damn hard work.

I used to collect Beano comics when I was younger. I only got about 70 issues in a row before I missed one and stopped.

What's widely thought of these days as superior for fighting games, joysticks of gamepads?

Sticks by far, once you get used to them ofcourse. I went to a tournament one time and everyone bar two people was using a stick. That's not to say that you can't get good with a pad, I played a really good player once who just used a PS2 Dualshock.

I would never watch it but when I played it last summer it was really fun. We alternated the roles of batting, bowling and catching so the variety was really nice. I live in England now and even though I don't know anyone who plays it regularly there does seem to be a fascination with it from foreigners - the tourists walking by took pictures of us as we played.

Nintendo seems of late to be losing touch with their hardcore (if you really want to call it that) roots. Haven't heard anything exciting about Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Metroid, FZero, or anything lately. There was of course Twilight Princess, MP3, and Mario Galaxy, and now there's this Donkey Kong Jenga... but what next? I have a feeling I'll be skipping any future Nintendo consoles as they continue to neglect the franchises - and consequently the base - that made them what they are today. Since the Wii has become such a success off of titles like Wii Fit and Wii Sports, I'm certain they will continue more in that direction.

They're hardly ignoring the franchises. The games you mentioned aren't that old and it'll be a while before you could reasonably expect new installments. The real problem is that there aren't many decent games released in between, by Nintendo or third-party developers.

This is just the way parliamentary politics works. Ireland's government for the past few terms has been a coalition and just like Gordon Brown the current prime minister wasn't in charge of his party when they won the last election. Even with certain issues that the parties disagree on the majority opinion will still come through.

Tea. Must have a cup first thing in the morning and several more during the day. Not sure if I'm addicted to it, I don't get the shakes or anything if I don't have some.

My grandmother is in a wheelchair and basically isn't physically fit to do anything by herself, but I've always appreciated that she is still mentally well because I know how horrible Alzheimer's can be. I hope you enjoy your time with her and that you can get your life going.

Are the three games linked in any way? Would it matter if I played Mother 3 before Earthbound?

Good luck, man. I passed last year but only just so I'm thinking I should probably do the same.

Can't have Ireland at the bottom of the table. There's going to be another speedrun event, right?

The trouble with national teams is that some countries are only represented by one person. So unless Grindie shows up I won't be able to compete (not that I'd win anyway).
