You mentioned Massive Attack but said you weren't that familiar with them. In my opinion they're the best place to start. Their two most popular albums are Blue Lines and Mezzanine. Blue Lines is more of a Jazzy Hip-Hop album. There's even some rapping and spoken word in a few of the tracks. The most popular song on the album is some kind of dance record though. Mezzanine is more of a guitar/rock album, and it mixes that with different singers, mostly this reggae guy? At least I think that's what he is...

This is the title song Blue Lines. (my fav)

This is the most popular song from Blue Lines Unfinished Symphony.

As for Mezzanine, here's my favorite song (first one) Angel

And here is what could be the most popular song Teardrop. I think it's the title song for that TV show "House."

I've heard of them for a while now. I think their lyrics are perfect, but they really need a better rapper. The guy sounds very very corny.

I mean the leading one in Handlebars.

I'm also one of the people who prefer CC to CT. Both are great games but to be honest, I never really understood the hype about CT, it didn't really do anything special for me.

Pretty much this. Chrono Trigger is a great game but I just like Chrono Cross better.

Plus FF6 was the shit. I can't sit and play Chrono Trigger without wanting to switch over.

I have been silenced!

Probably not. I'm not "loathed" anymore, so having that freedom is pretty cool. I used to be how Silver4Donuts is now: random menu shots in the Screenshot topic, long whiny posts, never showing gameplay shots. Looking back I can't believe how much of a sissy I used to be. This is a pretty cool site with some nice people overall.

I never really understood the point of the IRC. Aren't we supposed to be making stuff? It might be a nice way to get yourself known but it looks like a waste of time to me.

Björk Vespertine

For some odd reason, I got into a conversation with my teacher about her. She was trying to tell me about how weird her music was and wondering how she had so many songs. Björk is a cool girl. I think I like her because her music comes in album collections that you're supposed to listen to from start to finish. It all feels very full.

This is the one I like the most. After looking it up, Vespertine is just about being a married woman living in a house. Even so it feels really intense. Most of the record is made up of music boxes, boys choirs, strings, and chimes, but are these really dark and gripping beats that remind me of hip-hop more than anything else. The singing sounds pretty great. It's never too soft like a J-pop record (I know she's not asian, but it's a pretty good comparison), but it's never too brash either. You can tell that there is a lot of depth in the lyrics. There's always an understandable melody to each of the songs. Some are rock sounding, some would fit great in a rap album, and some feel like they come from a really good movie. There's a lot of emotion in this album. You never stay in one place though. The songs change tone about ten times a song. It feels surprising and yet consistent because your feelings immediately match where the song goes. There wasn't a single song on this album that I thought was bad. It all fits.

I've only stolen downloaded her stuff so, but it all sounds fantastic. I really want to buy this record. If I ever learn to make music I would want it to be like this.

I watched Elephant recently, and I couldn't sleep the night after. I'm pretty sure it's a 'just me' kind of thing, perhaps because I was paying far too much attention to Alex Frost's performance, but yeah. Tis a powerful film, plus I'm a sucker for long shots.

HELLS YEAH. This is probably the most disturbing movie I've ever seen. I like how they put in some surreal events to make it seem like it can happen anywhere.

she is black but apparently looks white enough to play a white person. somewhere out there there has to be a white guy who looks black enough to play a black person.

Robert Downy Jr. (Iron Man dude) is supposed to play a black in "Tropic Thunder" using makeup. I've seen the pictures and he does look black. A group of African-Americans have already seen the movie, and even they say he acts black. It's a comedy.

Hey, a trailer.

Hmm... Probably Antoine Fisher. During his childhood, his caretaker molested him, and there was a really intense scene portraying that. The actual sex was off-screen. You could hear was was taking place though, with the hitting and the woman saying things. Right before the worst happens, Antoine runs out of the house with his clothes all messed up like it actually happened. My stomach dropped after I first saw that.

There were some other intense scenes in there too, like when his best friend tries to rob a store, but gets shot in the back of the head. I'm almost crying every time I finish that movie.

aboutasoandthis - I couldn't check those Blackstar videos but did you put Respiration up? God that song is amazing.

That's wierd... It should be the first vid.

I love Pharoahe Monch! If I had to pick one song it would be Releasing Hypnotical Gases from his Organized Konfusion days. That set the standard for pretty much every fast/wordy/abstract song out there. lol

Does this include fear? If so I pick Nosferatu. Just seeing the thing run to a corner of the screen still gives me nightmares.

Talk about anyone dude and post some Youtube clips if you have some artists or videos you'd like to recommend.

Okay, cool. Here goes.

Black Star

The infamous duo of Mos Def and Talib Kweli. Black Star is probably my second favorite hip-hop album ever. Talib is one of the best lyricists I've ever heard. Mos Def is a just plain fun guy. It's a little sad that they don't really make records together anymore.

Best Lyrics IMO:

Their Best Video and Some Solo Videos:

Common

There isn't much out there that can stand up to "I Used to Love H.E.R." Everything he puts out just bleeds quality.

I don't get it. Are we allowed do discuss other artists, or do we have to stick with those posted?

I already love them all. Nas is my personal favorite. The only records by him I don't really like are Nastradamus and God's Son.

They're the most useful character, end of story.

I have a few healers in my game, but they have to be able to attack for my battle system. You're allowed  I'm aiming for a FF12's basic battle system, FF11's enemy hate system, and a mix of the Sphere Grid and FFTactics styled jobs for development. Hopefully you're to customize them into what you want.

I am trying to have a few different kinds of healers though. So far I've got three, Paladins, Alchemists, and Judges. The Paladin works best as a non-attacking tank who can heal himself best. The Alchemists is great at healing everyone quickly. With effort, they make great attackers because they have guns. (This one probably follows the guide the most.) The Judges (I call them Judges) can heal everyone too, but not as well as the second. They instead gives you stat boost like Haste, and Slow, but also Null-Fire, Attack Up, etc. They don't really follow the guide because they carry swords and heavy armor too.

I want to have twelve classes overall. I might add another pure Priest like the guide says, but that didn't work too well in FF12 imo.

Probably Marvin Gaye "What's Going On." I remember hearing the song for the first time in a music museum in Nashville. It sounded so soulful and atmospheric. It was amazing because the museum taught you how they recorded the album. For 1970 and 10 days (I think) it sounds so clear.

Then again I'm agreeing a bit with Omega. I don't really get production as far as live musicians go. As long as they don't cheat and change the volume or normalize anything I'm fine.

Maybe it's just high school.
