Man it's so weird coming back here every once in a while. It's like you get older but this place is more or less wrapped in a bubble. I started coming here around high school and distinctly remember messing around with RM95/2k on the family's old P3 Dell. Now that it's been more than just a few years, this place still brings back old memories. Like when I see the names Erave, Safari and Mateui (just a few of recent posters), I think to myself "i know these people, i have interacted with them before, but i don't remember how or when."


I remember getting in arguments with people over whether rm2k3 was legit programming or not, and now that I've got like 2 degrees in CS i realize those fuckers were right all along. Or raging in the mod forum for some trivial reason that I don't even remember. Or saying to myself $15 is a lot of money for premium membership, man i need to eat, forget gamingw. Anyways, I love y'all so keep this machine churning.

Just found out that I'm taking a trip to China for a few weeks. So I'm bringing the laptop and seeing if I can get some work done there. Basically I've got about 2 month after graduation before work starts and it'll be super-nice if I can actually finish something for once. It's always pretty funny to me that I started this whole business in high school wanting to be a MD. I ended up picking up a CS masters instead. Unfortunately, all that pointers, bit-operators 'n other nonsense is pretty much useless in RM2k3, so I'll probably spend the better part of a week trying to remember what the hell constitutes a "parallel process."

GW! I have something I'd like you to take a look at. Rose Chronicles.
The last public release I've made in 2006 and since then I've been messing around with it more or less for 3 years, accomplishing no real progress with it. I remember making a lot of changes and tweaks, but I've lost track of it all. In fact, I have almost no idea what the game is about! All I really remember is adding a bunch of additional content without adding more chronicles.

So as a favor, maybe you'd like to test drive it? It may crash immediately upon loading, or it may crash 8 hours in. I don't know when, but I know it will probably stop promptly at some unspecified location without a true ending. If you can give me some feedback as to when it halts or something else you'd like to add, that would be very cool.

So what?
It's pretty much been a decade since I started with RM and now that I'm in my final semester of grad school, I have some free time (who knew!). If the response is strong enough, I'll suck it up and actually finish a RM game for once.

I tried to go back and replay Crimson some time ago and gave up in frustration because it was so dang retarded. It's one of those things where everything made sense while you were in the process of creating the game and you could not figure out why some people gave it a 6/10 because you've made the most beautiful thing in the world. I don't think you'd want to play the earlier versions of it. In fact, the only only thing I can remember from Crimson was the fact that I named characters from King of Fighters and Rival Schools and that if you invert some words you might get other words! I'm sure the earlier versions had an even more undecipherable story and more breakaway cut-scenes than Family Guy.

That's why I'm not a writer.
