I've been thinking about selling the website I've had for a year and a half now.

www.team3soft.com is hosted by Geocities, has like 2GB of storage, 5GB of bandwidth/month, and usually gets aroun 400/500 unique hits a month.

It's not a lot, but I'm setting up an office web server and I'm trying to get rid of the Geocities domain and switch over to something else.

I evaluated the domain name and it's worth a little over $100, which really isn't a lot, considering I've already shelled $160 into the website.

Still, I'm having trouble deciding whether to sell it or keep it for web storage.

If anyone is interested in the domain, website and all, email me at [email protected]...

My old nemesis...

Haha.

Anyways, the server is down, since... Err... Two days ago or something.

I've decided to take a break from the internet for a while, because I'm tired of trolls and constant flaming wherever I go.

But meh.

This'll prolly be my last post for a while. I might kick around IRC a bit, but I'm definately steering clear of foruming.

Bye for now.

K. At least you weren't completely hostile in that post.

Now that you mention it, I need to beef up security a bit. I maybe remove the ability to input/output to files outside of the folder that the client is being run in, therefore eliminating the chance that something important could be deleted/overwritten.

Also, thanks for pointing this issue out >_> I'm definately going to work on that.

1. Yeah, it's a security risk, but only to other clients. The server only relays messages, therefore the server cannot be crashed with scripting. Also, clients can kick others from channels (if they are operators) and therefore it's about as safe as IRC.

2. Well, if you can program it outside of the chat program, you can program it inside. It's like IRC Scripting, but in an actual, useable programming language.

Examples? Well, you could make a file sharing code, an MMO game of some sort, anything really. Since there's already a web connection, it's an open portal to online minigames (or full length games, if you can program that well).

In fact, just a while ago, I changed the backdrop image on my friend's client by initializing a code from my client.

Also, Server has been moved to 4.226.222.53 for now.

Also, who are you to ridicule me? Have you tried this program? Have you seen what it does?

What was that? Oh, you said no, huh? Then shut up.

So, I've come up with this interesting new Web Chat protocool, called the Relay Automated Protocool for Text OpeRations (Or RAPTOR, for short).

The system works similar to IRC, and some IRC commands are compatible (/join, /msg, /topic, etc.) but mainly, the biggest feature of RAPTOR is the ability to program with it.

So, it's like a programming IDE on wires. It sends script, it recieves script, and it also supports plugins for new types of script. The main scripting language is Basic4GL, which is the native language of the program. To get information about B4GL, go to www.Basic4GL.net and check it out.

Anyways, the server is up right now, so it's a rare chance to try out the system before its official release on Agust 5th, which is the set date for the Team3Soft DSL server to go online.

The RAPTOR Client (An early Beta of the client) is available as one file at www.Team3Soft.com/RAPTOR.exe (in fact, you can RUN instead of DOWNLOAD if that is better for you, if you can't download files at the moment)

If you get the VelociRAPTOR Alpha, at www.team3soft.com/VelociRAPTOR.zip you can script using the command syntax: /script <language> <code here>

The only plugins I have in the works are Ruby and Turbo C. Ruby is my top priority plugin. I can't code in Ruby, but I've begun working on it for a friend, and he's been paying me back by beta testing the new VelociRAPTOR client.

Well, good luck with this.

Feedback is GREATLY welcomed.

Also note that you must have a Pentium III 1GHZ or Faster, 128MB of RAM, 32MB of 3D acceleration, and at least Windows 98 (2GHz P4, 256MB RAM, 32MB 3D and WinXP recommended).

The server is online.

Server: 4.226.222.206
Port: 6667
Main Channel: #RAPTOR

Sure, let's dump it all on those silly botanists! It's not like they have anything better to do, like solving world hunger or protecting humanity from horrible diseases! Yeah, they'll certainly wouldn't mind explaining over and over again the principles of quantum physics to people on the level of retarded toddlers!

I'm sick and tired of every bloody fundie bothering us, and only us, with their petty little issues and expecting us to answer "and why does this book say it is when it's not huh???" like the scientific community has somehow designated evolutionary biologists as "people who take your shit". I know we must seem like omniscient gods to you, but really, we're not! Try asking mathematicians, maybe they'll look up from their Riemann hypothesis for long enough to tell you why the sky is blue. Go to hell.

Your ignorance amuses me.

I might come...

Considering it's an 18 hour drive, and I won't fly in no damn plane...

I might...

I really need a vacation. Being cooped up around her really sucks.

I just recently acquired an ancient Packard Bell myself. But even more ancient with a 486DX at 33MHz. And DOS/Win3.1 came on it OEM.

And I'm looking for motherboards now. Just a run-off-the-mill P4 compatible is fine by me ;)

No, I don't have a workshop >_> unless you count my garage.

My next major project is to get my Celeron-powered HP up to speed with a Pentium 4. First thing I want to do is get a new motherboard. Any suggestions, anyone?

Nice. If I was more interested in Macintosh, I'd be tempted to find an old Mac SE somewhere and try that, but I'd rather play with PCs.

Also, I once put a computer, motherboard screen and all, into a suitcase. I would walk into a room, open it, plug in the cords, and start computing. It broke after I steeped on it and broke the screen.

So, I have a 1994 model Hewlett-Packard Vectra VL Series 4 P133 (originally). It was the first computer that I owned and I got it second hand from my grandfather.

When I got the computer, it had a whopping 500MB hard disk, 32MB of RAM, a Pentium I 133MHz and a 16-color graphics card,  which was stunningly poor for running the Windows 95 that was installed on it. It had an 8x CD-ROM drive and a single floppy drive. Big whoop. No USB, no Infrared, so it was utterly useless for connecting my Pocket PC to, which made my PPC more useful than my desktop.

I upgraded the computer to a Pentium MMX 233MHz, 64MB of RAM and a 3.5GB hard disk, which I then installed Windows XP onto and added a 32x CD Burner, and a USB PCI card. I also added a Trident video card shortly after I got the computer, as 16 colors wasn't enough, but I couldn't find an old enough 3D accelerator, so I stuck with SVGA, 4MB of memory. Meh.

The computer worked well, but then I got a new HP Pavillion 310n a while back, and this orange beast has been my baby ever since. I took this old Vectra apart and used the parts in various other computers.

Yesterday, I slapped it together, running DOS 6.22, Windows 3.1 (Nostalgia ftw) and added some other stuff, such as a Matrox Millenia SVGA video card, a TRUE SoundBlaster 16 (Don't ask where I got it, and I won't tell.) and removed the USB card.

I got bored with Windows 3.1 and installed Windows 95, a bootleg off of a tablet computer I had, which I took the mini-IDE hard drive out of for use in my Hitachi Laptop.

So, anyone else build anything relatively nostalgic?

Also, links to some free Windows 3.1/Windows 95 programs would be nice :)

Okay, sounds like something I could try. I will be updating my layout within a few days, and the layout is like it is right now mainly because I haven't been able to find the time to update it.

I've been piddling around in the message boards for a while, trying to fix some problems with avatars and whatnot, but now it's time to focus on the frontpage.

Thanks for the compliments and advice so far, everyone ;)

Yes, XRPG was in its early stages, but it's still got some life in it, I suppose.

It's in Basic4GL (www.Basic4GL.net) so it's a mix of OpenGL and BASIC.

EDIT:

Sent the source via PM in CODE tags. Have fun. The code isn't much but it will teach you how to start off on making a simple RPG making utility. Hopefully, anyways.

Mkay. Thanks.

And XRPG has been discontinued... :(

Sorry. I might add some screenshots later, though. Depends on if I feel like doing so, since it is an old project. If anyone is interested in the source, it's up for grabs.

Hey thar!

For a while now, I've had this website, www.team3soft.com, and I've transformed it into a programming and game development community. It's got links to projects of mine and/or my friends, as well as news and updates.

Also on the website is a message board, which is part of the community. It's mainly for programming or game development talk, but it is also used to discuss music and literature, video games and consoles, or your general information.

Anyways, it's a small community right now, and it would be great to have some of you take a look, join, or critique my ideas. I'm hoping to make this a fairly large community someday.

Well, I'll also be hosting select projects for FREE using my web space. All you have to do is send me your project through e-mail ([email protected]) as well as a short description. If I find it to my liking, or if I'm just interested in how your project will go, I'll host it for free. If it's good enough, I'll add a page to my website about it.

Anyways, take a peek and let me know what you think. The only members so far are my webfriends, due to lack of advertisement, so I feel that if I get the URL and name out there a bit more, it may grow to be quite the site ;)

Have fun, and reviews are greatly appreciated. As well as constructive criticism.

Thanks,
~Sabbath

The filesize for the entire Miniwin cabinet file, extracted, is 687kb. I'm trying to keep it small enough to keep on a floppy disk.

Anyways, I AM NOT trying to make Windows 3.1 run on a Win95 shell, I'm using the Windows 95 I/O and basic structure (which is Mini-Win) and I'm using the Windows 3.1 shell to operate it by.

I'm not sure exactly how it works, but it does. I haven't been able to work on it in a few days, but I'm going to try again tomorrow. Today I have to go to work.

The computer I'm trying to get it to work on is a Pentium MMX 200MHz, 32MB of RAM, 16-Bit Matrox GFX card, and a TRUE Sound Blaster 16 sound card. It's an old HP computer that I have turned into my test PC.

On the Windows 95 Installation CD, there's a cabinet file called Mini.cab in the root directory. It contains Mini-Windows, a tiny version of Windows 95.

I'm currently in the process of getting this small operating system to run off of a hard disk. It works, so far, and it will boot the OS, but it needs a shell.

I'm trying to use the Windows 3.1 PROGMAN shell (Plus shell.dll, etc.) and it might work. If not, I can use the Windows 95 shell, but it is quite a bit larger, and it would defeat the purpose of Mini-Windows.

Anyone else interested in this project?
