lol this guy is a furry probably
I find this post highly ignorant and inflammatory, not to mention unwarranted. What's wrong with using non-human characters in a fantasy setting, especially one paying tribute to a series full of various races?

I know that in a topic like this, screenshots should be as lush and colorful as possible to draw any attention. But even with the style I've chosen, I've ripped and created a lot of graphics for enemies and the battle system.
At least tell me wether this mostly-Final Fantasy chipset is horribly overused like the Dragon Quest one was a while ago.

Warning: 8-bit graphics and rm2k engine.

If anybody expresses the least bit of interest in this project, I may start a "work in progress" topic for it, but it's probably months away from a demo.

All right, I've played through the whole demo with a rouge... rogue... thief class, whatever. I really enjoyed it. Now, some comments.

*What's the point in getting, for example, a book containing a scroll? Why not recieve the scroll immediately? You still have to decipher it. Surely it's possible to set up these events so there isn't a middle-man item.

* Don't the skills and abilities overlap? Maybe it's nitpicking, but I'd prefer to have it all on one screen.

* I can't say I noticed any change in the OOBS skills after a few levels. I mostly focused on detection, disarm traps, and lockpick, and around level 4 I never failed at anything. Thus it never felt meaningful to keep boosting it. Was I overlevelled? Or did the dungeon require a higher level for lockpicking and such as I went deeper down, but I just never notice it since I was so uber?  :fogetcool:

Please explain this fatigue system... The stamina meter randomly appears, especially when I'm in the skill/ability menus, and it really lags the game for me.
Maybe I'm just pushing some button accidentally...

Also, this skeleton guarding a chest doesn't disappear after being defeated in battle. Talk about undead.

Ah, these 8-bit graphics are pure eye candy to me. These classes and the OOBS sound very interesting, I'll check this out and get back to you once I've gotten to play it some.

I've finally seen Casblanca.
Man... what took me so long? It was amazing, in every sense of the word!

Best band ever. Still waiting for word on that new, fan-sponsored album.

Yeah, the new ISIS is pretty sweet. Much better than In the Absence of Truth, which was the album that got me into them in the first place, though I now prefer their older material.

Regarding Callisto's new album Providence, I preordered it and am satisfied with it. The clean vocals aren't bad, but sometimes they're just too abundant. There are instances where the music would be stronger on its own, but the vocals drags it down. Most notably on Covenant Colors, when they start with the distortion just before the harsh vocals kick in. That's a big difference from Noir, too much emphasis is placed on the vocals now.

What Giant Squid did you hear that you didn't like? Metridium Fields? I'll admit that it's a kinda wishy-washy album, but the last track just speaks to me in ways I never thought possible.
I don't really know what to think of The Ichthyologist yet, but Monster in the Creek is so energetic and 'full', it completely overshadows their other releases if you ask me. A shame how limited its release was.

I've also just heard Ne Obliviscaris for the first time. Jawdropping awesome.

I enjoy sludge metal and all variations of progressive metal. Occasionally I'll listen to some weird black metal.

And now the namedropping. Raise your hand if you know of / enjoy these.

Callisto - Noir (atmospheric sludge metal)
Njiqahdda - Nji. Njiijn. Njiiijn. (psychedelic black metal)
Persefone - Core (progressive death metal)
Giant Squid - Monster in the Creek EP (progressive sludge metal)
Year of No Light - Nord (sludge metal)
Continuo Renacer - Continuo Renacer (instrumental jazzy death metal)
Subterranean Masquerade - Suspended Animation Dreams (progressive metal)
maudlin of the Well - Bath (progressive metal)
Augury - Concealed (progressive death metal)
Sculptured - The Spear of the Lily Is Aureoled (progressive metal)
Empyrean Sky - The Snow White Rose of Paradise (progressive death metal)
Oblique Rain - Isohyet (progressive metal)

And whoever mentioned Symphony X earlier in this topic: I can't stand them. Too much power metal and cheese in them.

Wasn't this the point of this topic? "Yeah I like metal too." Makes for a pretty boring topic.
