eminem has the same flow on all his new songs i feel. i mean, it's an impressive flow, for sure. fast paced, intense, aggressive, and he fits most his syllables together in a way that demonstrates he has an excellent understanding of the science of words. but his actual intent, message, and subject matter is lost behind bizarre abstract "punchlines" (in quotes because half of them aren't funny or even really particularly clever) and inane statements that are only there because they sound good. and he even writes his shit down - unlike wayne - so there really isn't any excuse for throwaway lines that serve no deeper purpose than "this is a good rhyme scheme".

his verse on drop the world is a perfect example of this, as well as forever. his verse on airplanes actually has some decent subject matter though, because he's talking about a bunch of personal shit (like he used to (when he was good)), but even then he's still pretty blatantly prioritizing flow over lyrics because it's that same fast/loud/angry bit he does on all his new shit.

in short: em is played out, free weezy

Well, to be entirely honest, I didn't really like the earlier ones. The first one was the only one that I thought was even "okay," but the other two I thought were too cheesy and over the top for me. So I'd probably say it's not as good as the first one, but better than the other two. But probably the only reason I'm saying it was better is because of the environment and everything. Like, with this kind of movie, seeing it in theaters and with friends is obviously always going to be a better experience than alone and at home, so if I were to rewatch the newest one a few years from now I'm sure I'd have a totally different take on it.

I dunno, I feel like I can't really give you the kind of answer you're probably looking for, just because I'm not a big Indy fan. I'd say it's worth going to see it though.

So, I saw it, and while I wouldn't really call it "good" it was at least enjoyable. The beginning was all pretty dumb, but around the point Shia LaBeouf comes in, it starts to actually get interesting and kinda cool. But then there is this terrible car chase scene in the jungle and everything just sort of falls apart.

It felt like watching The Mummy or National Treasure but with slightly better direction. So, I guess just take that how you will.

Man, I saw Speed Racer's trailer when I went to see Iron Man and it looked so bad. Seriously, the acting seemed horrible and the lines they used in the trailer were ridiculous. Ugh. It reminded me of the pod racing part in Star Wars episode 1 except more colorful and even worse acting.
I dunno dude, this doesn't really seem like the kind of movie where you can blame the acting. Clearly the directors were going for a specific style. Like, I'm sure the actors were being told to say there lines in a campy way, and I doubt any of them really took it too seriously. I'm sure the movie is terrible but it seems like it would be more the Wachowski brothers' fault than the actors.

I haven't seen the movie so I could be completely wrong, but mostly I just wanted to defend it because Emile Hirsch is Speed and he was so good in Into the Wild. :(

Yeah, this is obviously pretty old since it's referring to #gamemaker. If I'm not mistaken, Flich is the "USSR is still around" guy. He got into a bunch of arguments on IRC with Alex over history stuff.

Really sorry, dude. :(

If it makes you feel any better, I had a major plot point spoiled for me just a couple of hours ago, so I know how you feel.

I've been following the case since it happened.
I remember asking you if you knew who Sean Bell was because he was mentioned in Ridin' Overseas and you said you didn't know.

what is this from (mulholland dr considering you posted about it right after??)???
It's from A Clockwork Orange. It's a really sad scene. :(

Also since I'm posting again I'll just say Hotel Rwanda. I was reminded about it in ASE's zoo thread. The scene where the foreigners are being evacuated but all the rwandans have to stay behind is one of the saddest things I think I've ever seen. Just so many little things about that scene. Like, the hotel employee holding the umbrella over the cameraman, even though he's being left behind to die. Or the fact that a dog is allowed on the bus over humans. It's the only movie I've seen in recent memory that made me cry. :(

Yeah, this movie was great! It reminded me a lot of Motorcycle Diaries. I'd probably put both of them on a top ten list!

I think this movie is definitely a little more stylized than Motorcycle Diaries though. So people might be more interested in this one. So yeah, definitely recommend it.

Night and Fog was pretty emotional. And Fahrenheit 9/11 was actually pretty emotional too, despite the fact that it wasn't credible or whatever.

In terms of narratives and not documentaries, Requiem for a Dream would probably be the most intense movie I've seen.

Oh yeah, I definitely should've put that subway one in the op. It's so weird, but catchy.

The other two that were posted are really awesome too. I hadn't seen them before.

And pretty much all of the Neil Hamburger episode.
Oh wow, Neil Hamburger was in an episode? That must be a pretty awesome one.

This is my favorite Neil video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLYD2Jz2QXw

But not really for him, as much as for the interviewer. Something happens at the end that is just too funny.
