A quick search says this site hasn't been shared here before. It's a really well-done collection of classic games/abandonware, mostly from late 90's.

From what I've heard Black Dahlia is a must-play, wonder if any of you have other recommendations as well.

Streets of Rogue and Vagante are both a riot with friends. I'm kinda sorta working on Dead Cells now, it's good. Looking forward to Axiom Verge in the near future. Hollow Knight and the Metroid 2 3DS remake have me really hooked on the genre now.

I tried Monster Hunder 4 Ultimate Whatever on the 3DS and it's not grabbing me like I'd hoped. Bravely Default is kind of okay so far I guess. I'd rather be playing FFV but I'm going to stick around and see if this gets good.

I plugged my Dreamcast back in and thankfully it still works. Got new batteries for my VMU so I can be cool again playing with my Chao in public. Really I just wanted to give Shenmue and Shenmue II another playthrough before III comes out this year (hopefully). I'm enjoying it like I always have. It's very story-driven of course, with plenty of free time to punch the air in the parking lot, practice QTE or play Hang On at the Arcade, or just stand around and look at things. I still have a completed Save file from January 7, 2001. I must have gotten the game for Christmas 2000; I almost can't believe I beat it that quickly but then again I know how I used to be with video games. The graphics still hold up fairly well despite being low resolution. The voice active is funny and stiff, but that just adds to the Eastern/Japanese aesthetics. I've only played through Shenmue II once, so I'm excited to remember how that story played out.

I played through Her Story. It's not really a game so much as it is just an experience. It's a bit of a murder mystery, but there's really no endgame. You're presented with a computer screen and a couple of readme files, and a police database of interview footage of a woman. You have to enter search terms to figure out this story. Eventually you understand the entire story and you tell yourself that you're done with the "game." It's very neat, you're given access to every video file that you can search for, but the progression remains consistent. It only took me a few hours to get what was going on, but it was worth it for a really unique experience.

I'm excited to try the other FMV games that I've got. The 7th Guest was one of the first video games that I ever really poured a lot of time into, so the presentation really interests me.

I'm still whittling away at Breath of the Wild. Still really enjoying it. From what I understand, Zelda was initially inspired by Miyamoto's love of imagining his own adventures outdoors. If that's true then it's great to finally see him realize this open world format where you can go make your own adventure from the game. Meanwhile, Bethesda is still remaking that piece of shit Skyrim for the 4th or 5th time.

Finally picked up Breath of the Wild. Incredible Zelda experience. It's new, it's different, but it still feels like Zelda. The scope of the world gives me the same "woah" that the Dark World did, or OOT Hyrule Field did.

Also playing Dungeon of the Endless. It's like Faster Than Light plus tower defense mechanics. You're trying to find an exit on a floor, and enemies have a chance to spawn each time you enter a room. You have resources to power rooms, which then allow you to build defenses in that room. You finally find the exit, then you have to grab your crystal from the start room and drag it to the end room while waves of enemies spawn from unpowered rooms. The mechanics are a little complex, especially compared to FTL, but it's challenging and rewarding. Just like FTL, you can blink and your party could die.

Well, I had written out a good little paragraph defending why I like Christopher Nolan, but I hit F12 in Chrome and for some reason that made the entire website go away (and I can't recreate the problem now either.) Mainly, I just enjoy the visual effects and the distinct lack of CGI. Also I thought he did a phenomenal job with the Batman series, especially with the intensity of the second one. His latest movies have been interesting enough. Then again I very rarely watch movies if the MST3K/Rifftrax guys aren't talking over them, so I don't really have the experience to know a good movie when I see one.

Planet Coaster is every bit as good as it looks. It's a lot of fun, the controls work very well, aside from the camera that can get screwy at times. Graphics are solid, the pre-made set pieces are done very well and it's easy enough to build your own and save them for later. Sharing on the Steam Workshop is as easy as it gets. The campaign maps are incredibly well designed.

Weellllllllll Terraria just got a new update so I'm diving back into that. It's probably my favorite game of all time, I started playing back at initial release so I've restarted the game at every major update and gotten tons and tons of playtime out of it.

I picked up Factorio during the Steam Summer Sale despite it not being on sale (though it's only $20). I'd like to say that it's fucking awesome. Fallout 1/2 style graphics. WSAD movement, a little like a top-down Terraria in the way that you move and place items and manage inventory. Basically it's a factory logistics simulator. You are an engineer crash landed on an alien planet and you are tasked with mining up resources and then making a metric fuckton of products while also defending your base against swarms of aliens. Sometimes resources are kinda far away and you set up automated train stations to load and unload huge amounts of resources. If you're into simulators of any kind I would recommend picking it up, but for me it's had quite the learning curve. It took me 6 hours to beat the third mission because I'm not very efficient yet and my general layouts tend to be unorganized. I'm not good at drawing things on paper before I set out to build them, and this may be something that I should look into. This game certainly benefits from it.

So if you hang out in #saltw on espernet sometimes Frankie will come around and advertise that he's drawing art on Twitch and you can watch him making art for Barkley 2. I always loved Chef, I never played the game, but he always made me laugh so when I saw a preview of Barkley 2 on PCGamer (before they went super SJW) I got a big ole hard on.

RE: stolen DS. I lived with a guy back in 2010/2011 and he had a problem with drugs and prostitutes. Didn't really bother me because he was/is a nice guy and a good friend of mine, and I never really realized how much his problems could affect me until we started getting broken into regularly. At one point during a town festival (that I was attending of course) three guys broke into the house and grabbed all kinds of shit. My work laptop, my roommate's TV, some other shit that doesn't matter, and of course my Nintendo DS case with probably 30 games stuffed inside. I fucking loved my DS, I had all the Phoenix Wrights, Hotel Dusk, the Pokemons, some random dungeon crawler, Sim City, Mortal Kombat 3, the quirky but fun Brain games, Rune Factory 4, blah blah blah I'm forgetting so many games but I still have all the cases for these games and I want to cry every time I go through them. It was kinda funny though because these asshats were on bicycles (neighbors saw them and called cops) and were trying to ride off down the road with a 50+" TV in their arms lol. So yes the Phoenix Wright games were certainly the highlight of my NDS experience, but I really enjoyed a lot of my other games. It was an incredible system with some really fun interesting unique games. Hundley it's funny that you mention that the 3DS seems like it is nothing but sequels because all I have are sequels. Pokemon, Zelda, Zelda, Zelda, Mario, Mario, Resident Evil, Phoenix Wright. I don't have a single unique game and it's kind of depressing. Maybe it's my fault for not having as much disposable income as I used to. Maybe it's the industry's fault for not taking chances. This is why PC gaming is so important, and why I enjoy indie games far far more than AAA titles. Fallout 4 has really cemented that belief now, especially since they are REALLY dragging ass with mod tools. Oblivion has been the height of my Bethesda experience but only after Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul and Mart's Monster Mod coupled with a gazillion other mods. It was a fantastic experience that no other game has been able to live up to, I must have crawled every single dungeon in that game. I probably got burnt out on the formula after that.

Indeed the Phoenix Wright games are awesome. I've played through them all about 5 times and it has still not gotten old. The latest for the 3DS is easily my least favorite in every way (crime scenes aren't as good, the cases are EXTREMELY situational and far-fetched) but I still enjoy it enough. I love the characters, and I really love the back and forth with seriousness and playfulness of the series as a whole.

Fallout 4: see: Hundley. I agree with everything he said. Here's to hoping the community can mod it into something enjoyable in a few years. Was the last and will be the last AAA game I pay full price for.

I just replayed through Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy (Remastered) and I enjoyed it once again. It was my 3rd playthrough and it's a very good story driven QTE experience. It's a pretty wild story and there are two sequences in particular that are a little frustrating but after a few tries they're easy enough to get through. Bonus points for fan service, yay boobs.

Tabletop Simulator is every bit as fun as it sounds. It's literally a table and you get to play all these sweet games on it. It's really only fun if you can talk all your friends into playing with you. If you're me, good luck with that, they'd rather be playing WoW a decade after it was fun.

This is the most recent release I did, just a short 3-song "single." It's very 90's alt-rock inspired, like Counting Crows, Matchbox 20, that kinda stuff.
