learning to play ultima 4 on dosbox on android ( l o l).. it's p fun except i keep having to cover up half the screen with a lil keyboard and u know how it is with giant transparent arrows over the whole game and everything.
not playing it but I cannot escape borderlands,, had friends who basically played the first one all summer in preparation for the 2nd one and now i'm back in college and there's that darn claptrap voice in the other room.  strikes me as like a pure utility game.. strictly 4 the shooter fans, the looting fans, the point of the game is to get better guns and the story is there for cohesion, "humors" there for sake of clouding this, to charm.handsome jack (a rich enemy of you) raps about a horse made of diamonds in a fashion similar to exaggerating video game reviews and 'that' kind of ... humorless nervouss nonhumor. . . "hehe i'm so rich i bought a gun that will kill you from here. & i'm in timbuktu! cause i payed to go there. " i played it for a while and mostly kind of caught up with this other guy who was systematically going through camps and killing everybody and doing missions and shit, I guess he already had the system down. I mean i could see myself getting all hooked on the missions and etc but i really don't want to do that, sounds pretty torturous. .

I'm about 200 pages into Infinite Jest, it's pretty rad. so far the whole story has been told in a sort of narrating, expository form... David Foster Wallace likes to describe everyones habits and details and anxieties, and then gives you the backstory on the place they're brooding in, and it's unique and captivating, and written in this kind of colloquial, stream-of-conscience-yet-readable format... although he throws a lot of archaic/obscure references/words I keep having to look up  (like one every page... possibly just me not knowing the refs, as dave eggers says in the forward that you won't have to look up much), and the foot notes are all at the back (of which there are like 100s), but thats kinda part of the fun.
I highly recommend it so far!!

started playin the cottage: http://www.ifwiki.org/index.php/Stuga

upon hearing "heavy footfalls nearby" I entered the command wait and now it's just repeating "Be Quiet, I'm Waiting!" every time enter is pressed.

wiz has done this before, he doesn't make his own beats ever though so I doubt he knows the samples
also p. sure j dilla didn't sample an actual videogame in zelda 2.

I've made a few earthbound and like castlevania hip hop remixes/mashups myself but I can't put them up today

yeah the generic minimalist 'matte plastic' design has been pretty popular for a few years now..... I don't get it.
it's kind of the setup that our hip internet generation sort of fostered and since it happens to be so simple corporations have 0 trouble imitating it and it is getting old quickly.  lots ofcorporations comin through the woodworks and capitalizin on ya culture - but then again I guess that's always been the case. we've got our waves our counter-culture > capitalized on > new counter-culture > capitalized on again, repeat, it's just hella exacerbated by "Web 2.0".... oh man keyboard cat appeared in a pistachio commercial #swagpistachios

ayo:
robert schumann's "Im wunderschonen monat mai" sounds a lot like a fragment of the "sad theme" from Zelda (those two versions are different keys but you should get the picture anyway. get a clue! get real; get a life)
it's like schumann took the part at :14 and just kind of exploited it. I  mean obviously he did not but I feel like the zelda song actually does a better job of integrating that part

when the old gods are dead new ones must be created!
--------V--------------------------------------------------------------

man this is great.
Personal Tangent (optional reading material. relevant, but really self-indulgent): I love catalogs of differentiated yet similar objects in a series. reminds me of final fantasy guides which have a bestiary at the back (that was pretty much all I read in them.. I still haven't completed a final fantasy game). this is probably the fault of crazy bones - I drew like hundreds of my own, I've written lists of full names (ie John Gugenheim, Percy "AJ" Facelift), p. sure I've made my own pokemon n digimon a few times over (all in childhood, of course). At one point I compiled the names of enemies from various sources to make a master list. I think this has influenced how I look at things - something being just one in a crowd is a selling point for me, like finding some dumb post rock band with like 15,000 plays on last.fm and checking out their music anyway.
so that's what that reminds me of

You're thinking of a multi-sampler - contains multiple samples within one vst. FL Studio has the "FPC" built in, and that is a functional multi-sampler, albeit a shitty one. all ya gotta do is load in that fpc (right click on some other patch, hover over "insert", pick "FPC"), pick the empty preset by right clicking the two left-and-right facing triangles in the upper right corner of the fpc window, and then drag your samples to the respective squares. p sure you can make multiple banks within one preset too, meaning you can have multiple sets of these squares containing samples. sorry if this is confusing, I am not a qualified FL Studio assistant

having one sound effect that you can choose different pitches for would be a sampler or possibly the granulizer1, but if you want to edit the pitch of the individual sound effect before loading it into fpc, you can do that a few ways: loading the sample in edison and right-clicking and finding some pitch function, or loading the sample into a sampler and then recording the pitch you liked in edison. pretty sure fpc lets you adjust the pitch of individual samples too, so that would probly be simpler.

edit: these words might not apply if you have like a totally diff. version from me (i have 8)

1 (you would drag the sample onto the granulizer then go to the granulizer's smp tab, then right click on the "time" knob, and click a period of time you'd like the sample to be stretched to, and then you should be set . the benefit of this is that the sample can change pitch but stays the same in length)
