https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR6FKTA2o2Q&index=1&list=FLSHPswSyqWMOLtahdyt6Wdg I had a pretty good idea the other day. What if someone leaked the entire script+bestiary for the next major Final Fantasy and before it managed to get anywhere near its release date, an RPG Maker 2000 enthusiast just beat them to the punch and made the entire game in like a week or so. And it's got everything those FF crazies are into: floating rocket boats, space demons, underwater cyberpunk cities run by electric eels, fancy pants, gun dogs, Christian symbolism, and of course, CRYSTALS! Just picturing thousands of fans fussing with this archaic software, hissing at their screens, trying desperately to just get the thing to recognize English characters (I always had trouble with that). I'd imagine certain swathes of entitled gamers getting enraged that they're now "obligated" to play the "shitty fanhack" because Square Enix REFUSES to release their game fast enough.
Has this the ever happened, a fangame predating the real game, possibly becoming the real game, pulling up the number two bench seat for its big sweaty multi-billion dollar time-paradox baby? I really wish this would happen, but, with none of the consequences of course; People still get to keep there jobs and go on vacations with their families and live happy lives like they ought to. I mean if someone did do this, it probably wouldn't have much of an effect in the grand scheme of mainstream videogame culture. I'm sure there would be a few jokes about how it IS the REAL game made by the REAL PEOPLE and the actual company trying to take it down for legal reasons are just a band of posers. And Square Enix would shakes its fist and draw some studded leather jackets to vent its rage. DUPED AGAIN SQUEENIE!!
Also what's that game with the cave worm? I wanna see what happens to him.
