well game making it was just for the fun of creation mostly, although when I started on an Earthbound type game it was because not enough media existed that gave me the same vibe as Earthbound, so I wanted to attempt to continue a similar story.

With music, it's again, a little like my influences, but it might be inspired by a single track off an obscure EP or something, where I wanted to continue the story of that song and go off on a tangent the actual artist was unwilling to go on because they had their own trains of thought. Although I'd say with most of my tracks, I can't hear any single track that I'm trying to emulate, very rarely I intended it as a 1>1 kind of emulation of the original track/album. So I guess I went off on a tangent a lot more than I realized. Maybe other people think 'oh this sounds like Warp Records circa 1994' but I don't really get that vibe anymore.

So really just chasing a certain vibe that I couldn't find, or couldn't find enough of

started making new tracks again

I dig the new track.

and yes that site only survives through the contributions of like the same 3 members including me. I mean there's occasionally another post by some miscellaneous person, but it's mostly just a handful of people. And I'm not even sure if all of them still use Jeskola Buzz

But the one that you are describing sounds pretty cool. The only other one that I played was NGU IDLE and one that was based on the evolution of life which was pretty fun. And Cookie Clicker.

https://funflower.itch.io/nimbus found it

Working on a lil idle game in Love2D.

sometimes I end up playing idle games on itch, but it's gotta have some sort of nice aesthetic to it. This wouldn't really appeal to me

like there was this one where you made a cloud rain on this civilization which caused it to build new buildings and farms, which had a nice style

I mean, it might turn out differently than I think. I'm sure it can't be a heatwave forever and actually the beginning of June was pretty cool. So first chance I get I'll work on something

Awesome, is there a particular track slot you want to have?

nope

probably just found it looking for a way to promote my rpgmaker game/games, and the rest was history. I have no idea how I used to find stuff on the internet without a major hub like Reddit or finding things through Youtube or something. Like somehow I found the netlabel Thinner and its sister label Autoplate in like 2005, which was great because I couldn't afford any music and my parents were afraid of spending money on the internet, and also the music was more relevant to my interests than what they had in stores anyway. Even once I started to get music online I would buy an itunes gift card at the pharmacy and do it that way. I don't think Bandcamp was around yet

sorry for going off on a tangent, my main point was, how did stuff get discovered way back when on the internet? Besides the obvious Google "I want to make my own videogames" but even then you have to know what an engine is and stuff

I dunno if I'll be able to do anything because it's getting way too hot here and I can't hear the music right with AC running

I have two external drives that I use frequently, one I have never organized and one that was sorta organized. Went through and rearranged all of my files so it's easier to find things.

Found the early version of every chapter of the most recently finished GW Chaingame, including an unfinished chapter by someone who dropped out.

I got a 1TB thumb drive, because the other storage I have is a 1.5TB microsd card, which I'm afraid to carry around, so I'm backing up some of my favorite music to the thumb drive. It feels like the thumb drive is just a microsd in a casing though. It might actually be too small for that, it's ridiculously tiny, just enough to have a handle that you can grip it with. Will also be another backup of my own music (that I made) since you can never have enough backups of that. Who knows if Bandcamp/archive will shut down all of a sudden

short and sweet game

I 100%ed the game yesterday. Here's a clue, two of the creatures are at the extreme north and south ends of the world

I picked up their fake player's guide thing too

weird, I didn't know I had submitted twycross to a compilation or something. Must've been forever ago

also you know my albums on Bandcamp are pay what you want? I've got a lot more recent stuff than Hapax Legomenon. Rescognizant EP is getting towards the kind of production I want to do
