Got Dead Space for PS3 on release day. (Only the third game I've bought all year)

I'm up to chapter 5 and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The atmosphere is excellent and immerses you right from the start. I really like how there is no hud and everything is implemented into the game play.

The story is interesting and the gun shooting is well done. There is quite a bit of backtracking but it makes sense and I'm not complaining. (Afterall, Super Metroid is my fav game of all time)

I just really like the game so far!

I've been following the progress of Braid for a while and so I snatched it as soon as it was released. This is the first XBLA game I've purchased and enjoyed it for the most part. The ending was genius and so were most of the puzzles. Though I was frustrated at many points, I think the originality and game design warrants that everyone should at least try the game.

Maan, developers just don't make games I want anymore.

I'd be excited if Nintendo grew balls and announced a new and ORIGINAL IP which is as ambitious and creative as the past Zelda's and Metroids. I'd be terribly excited if a new Chrono game was announced and a new game from Team ICO. I can't think of anything else that would make me excited especially as I hate most sequels.

Bought a PS3 for this as MGS remains the only series that I'm still attached to. Beat it the other day and feel a little disappointed. Probably because I had high expectations but also because the game, in my opinion, had a few too many flaws.

First of all the entire "Act" division of the game didn't work in my eyes. It didn't seam or flow too well as past MGS' and forced a very straight forward and linear approach to the entire game design.

The bosses were terrible - at least compared to what I've come to expect from past MGS Boss battles. Not to mention the stupid and repetitive back stories comprising the end of each. It felt like they just threw it in at the last second.

The story as a whole just wasn't good narrative. There was too much nonsense to be honest. The game could've ended soon after and would've been for the better. The epilogue with was just unbelievable. I couldn't believe Hideo threw that in. I mean come on! What kind of twist is that? Also the Patriots lost their aura. In MGS2 - they were portrayed as some eery, mysterious all knowing Gods Furthermore, the numerous and interesting Codec moments from past MGS games are close to nonexistent here.

And then the whole Drebin thing. Unlike past MGS, you no longer have to search for ammo or explore terrain to find new weapons but simply buy it from this gun launderer. Sorry but that's just not MGS.

Yes, this is still the best game I've played for some time but also the most disappointing. I don't play too many games but MGS is something I follow very closely. MGS4 has stellar visuals and art direction, sweet game play for the little that is present, and great cut-scenes but somehow doesn't feel quite like MGS...

Banjo Kazooie is one my all time favorites, but this is not Banjo Kazooie. However I'll reserve judgment until more is shown. But a new Banjo Kazooie (next to a new Chrono) is one of the games I've been really waiting for. I was expecting a continuation of the visual style used in the past Banjos, except in Hi-res, but this is different. It doesn't have that warm look and seems too blocky and modern unlike the warm, fuzzy, organic look of past titles.

Also I hope it still has Gruntilda with it's live game speeches. I loved that aspect and found it very entertaining. Furthermore, I hope the giant overworld, and unique hub levels make a return. At the moment it looks like too much of a departure from the formula. Also Rare, though used to be a golden company, has had a miserable track record as of late.

I didn't see Ico as simply pushing blocks, picking up shit, torches and bombs. You can say something like that about any game really. Ico was a sum of all its parts. The simplicity was what made it so charming and different. The way the game was presented, the unique art, the desolate atmosphere, and the best puzzle design in years is what really made the game. I don't know much about the praise the game got when it was first released. I think it is one of the most underrated games ever. Seriously, I haven't played a game with such an atmosphere or puzzle design since.

In terms of overrated games... Halo pops right to mind. As do the past Grand Theft Auto games. Haven't played 4 yet.

Damnit... the one time I come online to play and it seems like no ones on...

EDIT: I did get in a few matches with T-Pop (who on further inspection was Dopple) and pretty much got my ass handed to me by his Diddy Kong. Even the ones I won were lucky really. Fun stuff! BTW I didn't mean to leave, my connection just randomly disconnects every now and then.

Ok, am I disqualified? I was pretty busy today and yesterday and didn't play my match.. I guess I was suppose to play Weesman. And if it's too late to play tonight that's fine too.

Edit: Umm, my opponent has not been on for 2 wks. So am not sure if he'll get back in case we can play tonight.

Brandon, Brawl is a very serious matter!

Ugh... I have to go with the monotonous task of entering all the friend codes for the tourney. I wish we had brackets done so I could enter only those that I need to.. And where are the brackets anyway?

I thought Lupe Fiasco's "The Cool" was the greatest album of the year until I heard Talib Kweli's "Eardrum." Pure lyrical/flow bliss.

Got this game on launch but didn't play intensively until few days ago. This game lives up to most of the hype. It's a total blast with 4 players!! Too bad the online experience isn't fully loaded with headsets, rankings, etc. Or am I missing something?

Also what's this "freeloader" thing everyone's been mentioning?

Wish I could join the tournament.. Sucks it's Sunday - the day I work for the entire fricking day.

This movie was great! The cinematography was really well done with the vast desert scenes and I also really liked the film structure. Pretty intuitive. But the antagonist really took the cake. He was really freaky and made every scene tense. This is the best movie of the year for me.

Cheesy, this is how I interpreted the movie:

Man this really is an amazing album. It's hard to choose a favorite track, there are so many good ones. I'm really lovin "little weapon" "hi-definition" "go go gadget flow" "the die" "hello, goodbye". This is the best album ever.

Lupe's sophomore effort finally came out today after some delay. Titled "The Cool" it follows the story of various characters and has a dark feel all around. For some reason, he doesn't get much love on the hip hop scene. I'm a big fan of his music (he's my favorite artist). Much of today's rap and hip hop music doesn't make sense (Supersoak that hoe! You!!!) but Lupe is a breath of fresh air.

In my eyes, Lupe Fiasco is the best lyricist today. His debut CD which came out last year "Food and Liquor" had so many outstanding songs that it will be hard for him to top his rookie effort but I think he has a good chance. I bought his new CD today and he's really outdone himself. Tracks like "little weapon" , "hip hop saved my life" "the die" and "the coolest" are exemplary of modern lyricism with sick flow and beat.

So who else listens to Lupe?

Now I'm going to have to READ the first review ever since video reviews became the norm - to see what all the fuss is about.

Also, as a HUGE Zelda fan, I can assure you that Zelda didn't deserve anymore than 8.5. The game didn't move the series one bit and actually made me realize how good Wind Waker was. Nothing can touch Majora's Mask though.

Some of the best games I've ever played were pretty short going by what people here are defining as short. Metal Gear Solid, Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, BioShock, etc. Quality>Quantity always.
