I remembered this and laughed. Was that really only in 2009? I thought that topic was much older.

I re-seated the CPU and everything works now. Queue the laugh track.

Read reviews before you buy things in future. RMA that MF.
I find your logic quite unreasonable. On this particular motherboard there are only 3 reviews complaining about this. On some other Gigabyte motherboards there are people complaining about it but why would I look into those boards? I've been using Gigabyte motherboards for years now and never had any issues.

Also, I don't think the board is dead. People have said that they RMAed it several times and still had the same issues. Do you really think that Gigabyte has that many faulty boards? Maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

Remember, it runs fine when my video card isn't hooked up...

I have made a breakthrough in this. It's not the video card or the PSU, it's the motherboard.

If you read the motherboard reviews (the 1 - 3 star ratings) people with this motherboard have been having the exact same issue.
It appears to be an issue with the 8-pin connector, but I don't know how to fix it.

Any suggestions?

I've decided to RMA one of these. Any suggestions as to which one I should RMA? Video card or PSU or both?

My motherboard does have a speaker. When this happens it starts to make a noise but the power cuts out.

I was thinking this is a power supply issue, but I just can't be sure.

I'm going to keep this short. Here's my video card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814125333

Here is my PSU:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139011

Here is my motherboard:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128437

Processor:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115214

Here's the problem:
When I run my computer with 0 of the 6 pin connections going to the video card it runs fine, the fans on the video card run and everything. When I plug the 2 6 pin connections to the video card the computer does not run and the fans spin up for like 1 sec and stop and then it repeats this. Also, If 1 6 pin connector is connected in either of the 2 6 pin ports it works fine. It only messes the computer up if both are plugged in.

I was thinking that this meant that the PSU was not powerful enough, but I used an online PSU wattage calculator and it says that 850 watts is fine.

What exactly is the problem?
I do not know if the video card is outputting a signal because my monitor has not arrived yet.

I would've locked this topic but DDay has been on a roll lately.
Ouch, that's a lot of pressure.

For future reference, it was, thankfully, the RAM.

Ok so it turns out both of these components are still under warranty. I'm going to send in the RAM first since it's obviously easier to remove and ship, and then if that doesn't work I'll try sending in my motherboard.

Try a differant dimm socket, try them one at a time in all sockets.
I've done that. This doesn't fix it.

I would also like to point out that there are a lot of people on this site who come here simply to post their game and then leave, or only check back to see feedback. They do not come into this forum (they probably don't even know that this is the general forum).

The only people who really post are those who no longer make games (for the most part), so obviously most of the posts you get are going to be negative.

I think the main site should make it easier for people to get feedback on their games, easier to showcase their games and easier for people to play their games. The forums just aren't a good place to do this. The posts in most of the game topics are like "I'll play it later" or "Nice game." It's hard for people to find posts by the original author and it's hard for people to know when a game is updated. A system that makes managing game releases, separating suggestions from general posts, complete control of comments / suggestions that are posted on the game (delete / hide spam posts), the owner of the game should have complete control over that page; he shouldn't have to wait for a moderator to come to his game page and clean it up, the ability for users to submit bugs in an organized way, and a way for the author to update the game with patches and other content. People should be able to subscribe to updates to a game series that they like. People should be able to write reviews that look good; don't just give users a text field and let them write a wall of text.

It isn't just about having a main site, it's about having a main site that's worth having. Who cares what all of the veteran users think, they're only here to troll; the main site isn't for them. They aren't going to use it. Let them have the forums. Make a main site that works for developers.

I went with this:
Quote
Give GW a mainsite (gaming-related or not), and keep it under gamingw.net

But at this point I really don't care anymore. Just get a good, long lasting mainsite up that is actually related to what GW is supposed to be about (which is showing off crappy RPG Maker games indie games and user submitted content).

I've never been a fan of putting it under a new domain name. Why should we? This domain name is perfectly fine.

Is there any way for me to test my ram without putting it into another system? I don't really have access to another PC that supports DDR2 ram.

Hello everyone. As you've probably guessed from all of my other dumb tech support questions here, I've always had problems with my ram / motherboard.

Basically what happens is randomly my computer will beep when I try to turn it on. Basically the ram is no longer seated properly (it hasn't moved out of the socket, it hasn't been moved at all, it's the same as it has always been) and I have to re-seat it about 100 times before it will finally work. Usually I just re-seat my ram until it works, but now I am sick of this.

I want to buy a new component to fix this. What should I buy, new ram or a new motherboard?

I am currently working on re-making the RPGMaker 2k3 map maker in Java.
Here's a screenshot:

(Yeah, it's a really ugly map).

Autotiles are about 95% done.

But it's nowhere near being done  :welp:.
