hima!!!! one of the few GW/SWers that i actually played some games of!!! hello!!!  looks like a rad game you got goin on there.  i take it it's an android/iphone game?

Could you make the Cheshire Cat look more like a (freaky) cat and less like your average anthro? Making him look that way really takes what made the Cheshire cat an interesting character and ruins it. To a point where I don't think I'd be able to tolerate playing it. I just think you could put more imagination into it, is all. Right now, he looks very uncreative and cookie cutter.
If you change anything about that game, that would be the one thing I would change.

Thank you for your comment! It's too bad that you think he looks uncreative and cookie cutter, but I believe making him a cat would be just like other Alice in Wonderland interpretations and wouldn't stand out from the crowd.  If you look at all the other characters here , you'll see that all characters are loosely based on Alice in Wonderland and all the talking animals are anthros.

Not to say that your comment isn't valid. I know what you mean, and I understand your point. However, I prefer it to be like this and even though some may not like it, there are those who like it as well.  Also, the time it will take for another design as well as creating a new graphic assets for the character would be too much and I'd rather spend that time making other games.

I'm sorry if this make you don't want to play the game, but I have no intention to change the design. We'll try better next game :)

Jaffer, it would also help if you use different color for the stats on the right side of the arrows. Something like, green for a number that is increased, red for a number that is decreased, and white for a number that stays the same.

UDK doesn't allow you to create a commercial game though. I think they take 25% from your profit or something.  Unity, on the other hand, allow you sell whatever you make. They only force you to buy pro version if you income from the product is more than $100,000 a year or something ( but who cares how much the pro cost since by that time you'll probably has more than enough to pay D: )

I've also read from the TIGs forum that UDK is generally more difficult to use and would be more suitable for the coder, while many artists/ designers seems to be able to handle Unity3D quite easily.

But of course, I haven't tried UDK so I can't say much. I've tried Unity though but it isn't that easy to start. I guess I have to give it more time, since this is also the case with Game Maker for me where when I first got it I have no idea how things work and what to do.

Oh I don't mind the 2k3 RTP at all. I just think the overall graphic consistency is off with the monsters, and the map design is pretty poor. ( At least for the first two floors that I have seen. ) I also think of the battle speed, and how you show message etc. as presentation so if you have slowed it down then that's good :D​ 

For the party set up screen, I don't mind the extra bar at all! Sorry if my wording confuse you. It's just the control that I have problem with.

I really wish this was 3D First person dungeon crawling though. I love that <3

I agree with you there. That's why the question should be is it possible to have interactivity with a mature theme in an intelligent way. 
In books and movies, you don't control what happen and observe them rather than interact with them like games allow you to do. 

Of course, there are interactive novels like visual novels and interactive movies like Phantasmagoria or Yarudora series from PS1 ( These tell great story actually. One of them is about a man who found a woman who lost her memory. He fell in love with her so he fooled her that she is his wife. ), but can we tie more interactivity than just multiple choices?

Many hentai games come to mind :S

To explain further, one game is called Biko 3  ( or which one I don't remember ) let you play as a stalker in one of the four scenarios. ( four stalkers, four girls ). The game is pretty much like Metal Gear where you have to follow the girls in 3D environment without being seen by them. During the stalking, you will get various of items that will let you decide your ending, whether you just want to return them the id card they had dropped in the library , or you want to use the rope you found to tie them and you know the rest :O

The ending for each scenario was pretty interesting actually.  One of the scenario is that the girl is a runner, and you happen to be her neighbor or something. If you decided to rape her, she will won a race in the ending and said something like 'Fuck that bastard who rape me, I can still live my life after what you have done to me.' during an interview on the tv, which cause the player to feel guilty forever ( or at least it's supposed to )


Seriously , many hentai games have done this already. Many are poor, but some are pretty good.  But most of the good ones are visual novel which have almost no gameplay whatsoever so it's still a good question if we can tie gameplay or interactivity to a mature theme and still tell the story in an 'intelligent way' instead of selling sex scenes like in hentai games.

I found the game to be lacking of tutorial and nice introduction to the whole system. I almost quit the first time after losing to the first encounter.

I mean, there are 14 characters and I feel a bit overwhelmed with all the skills and stuffs so I'm expected to learn about them bit by bit.  Losing to the first encounter ever in the game is pretty discouraging. I don't mind dungeon crawling and difficult game ( I play all Shin Megami Tenseis and beat all of them :O ) but the game should at least has an easier introduction battle and let the players learn some basic elements of the game, like changing party during the battle etc.

I really wish you could change the enemy sprites, because I don't think those fit the games at all. They look too childish and cartoonish, which doesn't really go well with the facesets.

I really like the battle though. It forces you to think and not just attack spamming. I also like how you custom so many parts of the game, though the battle seems a bit too fast for me. Most of the time I couldn't make out who's attacking whom, since the damage pop and the battle animation are played almost continuously without breaks in between. If we are able to adjust this, it will be really great.  The essence equipment system is great and is better than normal equipment, in my opinion.

I have a bit of a problem with party changing menu. I expect pressing left when the cursur is at the left most will cause the cursor to be at the rightmost and vice versa, but in the game it get me to another page where there is no party member there. I'd have used UP or DOWN for changing page instead of left or right. It isn't much of a problem, but I happened to accidentally switch page quite often so this annoys me a little.

Overall graphics and presentation is , unfortunately, disappointing for such good game. The core game and the system is great already, but with better presentation I'm sure this game will do great and appeal to more people. I wouldn't play it if I have never heard of your name and played your other game before, to be honest :(

One last note...thanks for cutting out the Demon Tower intro in this one<3

I don't think there's anything wrong with Craze comment. You didn't say that it's the easy mode. I doubt anybody even know that your game has a difficulty setting, so how is this not useful? If you want us to look at some specific parts, then you should have said so.

A game I'm working on for HBGames.org 5th anniversary contest.  All the graphics are custom, thanks to Piti :)​   It's a beat'em up game, pretty much like Noitu Love maybe?  The deadline is the 5th of next month so I'm hoping I can finish in time.

The game's name is Alice in Underground. Basically it's a twist of the classic Alice in Wonderland. 

Still lots left to do so I'd better work on it D:

Yeah the running animation really needs to be fix. The jumping looks weird too, it seems like the physics is wrong or something. Other than that it seems fine to me.  I like the hit effect :)

They're cool so this is a difficult choice to make. I'd probably choose the one with a hat on instead of without hat. His hairdo make him looks like Serph from Avatar Tuner, so the hat help make him unique or at least not too similar.

It isn't that exciting, mostly because I cannot control 4 characters at the same time and I haven't implemented an AI yet.  Just testing the new bullet size, new resolution ( 960 x 600 as oppose to the old 800 x 600 one ), and some particle effect ( dash and barrier. )  The game support analog stick controller and if you use that you can move in all 360 degree instead of 8 direction :D

Thanks! The bullets are actually easier to dodge than they look. You can also guard yourself with a shield so don't worry :P.
As for your screenshot, it's actually readable now just that the fonts are kinda small for me. But if play in fullscreen then I  think I'll have no problem reading it :)

In the gun stat, I'd put something to separate between the stat name and the stat value though. Maybe something like "[Ammo]" or "Ammo :", since right now they look too blend to me. But that isn't a big problem really.

I think most of the objects in your map lack shadow. Like, in the third picture. I couldn't tell at first that it was a counter with computers on it.  Did you make those chipsets yourself? If so, kudos for making custom graphics :)

 That's good to hear. Zooming in too close won't be a problem though, since the camera will take the highest distance between two character and use that to calculate the camera zoom. So zooming in will only happen when all characters are close together. I'm pretty sure most players will try to keep some distances by dashing out of a messy close combat situation so the closest zoom in should happen rarely. (Unless it's a 1-on-1 match. )
