That doesn't look half bad Sanosuke. But you should have more variety in the trees.

Ok this is the new suits screen. from left to right top to bottom:

Bare, Sumo, Chicken, Fart Mage, Doctor, Wolf, Brettron 9000, Arnold, and Jesus suits. It's kind of annoying how RPG Maker doesn't have the system I want built in. Basically, each suit has its own level, and abilities are learned as its leveled up. There is a way around this, using variables to store both each hero's stats before the suit change, and the suit's stats when you change back. Its tedious, but I can do it.

Oh, and disregard the rock and "1". Those are for testing purposes and to remind me to delete those events when I'm done.

Sumo suit in battle. "Dosukoi" raises self attack,
"Gochan Desu" recovers self HP. "Dosukoi" Is a sumo expression, I have no idea what it means. E Honda says it in Street Fighter when he wins a battle. It's a stereotypical sumo thing. So is "Gochan Desu" When you finish a meal in Japan, it's polite to say "Gochisousama (desu)" or just"gochisou"
meaning that was a good meal. it literally means feast. Gochan Desu is an abbreviation used by old men or tough people like sumos, I guess.

Before I clicked on this topic, I could of swore that it would be another one of those adbots posting links to websites that sell mattresses.

lol my bad.

Very educational Terrorantula, I'd never read that poem before. I think I'll tell the MKs guy about that poem.

Not sure if anyone's seen this, but this guy is making a game set in Mattress worlds, he's having people send him pictures of their mattresses to be used in the game.
It looks so funny.

I like the clay enemies. Although the calculator looks better handdrawn for some reason.

Yeah I agree, I'll probably redo him.

Am I the only one that thinks the clay enemies stick out way too much and look bad in such a low resolution? It'd be different if everything was clay or at least a high resolution, but you're mixing clay, photos, and low-res sprites and that doesn't look good.

No, other people have said that. Personally I don't care whether the graphics clash I hate when people say that.
It looks better in the game I think, because these pictures are blown up twice their size.
I would redraw the enemies instead of clay but I suck at drawing.
At this point I have too many animations for the party members that I cant do them out of clay.

The design of that was this. A couple years ago I was like I need an enemy graphic! So I used charas to make the most ridiculous charset ever, this green cloaked bird with wings.

Then I made this crappy battlegraphic for it

which led to the new one:

lol, before and after, I should do comparison pics once I finish all of the clay remakes of the enemies.

Maybe you should learn Czech.

lol. It's not on my list of languages to learn.
Maybe if I get a Czech girlfriend then I'd consider it.

What's wrong with showing my game I don't understand. You can't even tell its made in RPG Maker.
I just thought it'd be better to show them something

Yeah you're right, I mean the reason I just want to show them is that I have some creativity. I don't even know what exactly they're looking for for these positions. I still need to apply and stuff online though.

My game isn't "Full" of characters it just uses SOME characters from square games as a joke, and some music of theirs. Most of the resources I made myself.

Yeah I've translated a couple songs to English, I don't know if that would count though.

Well I think I would be judged differently if they want americans/fluent english speakers because honestly, if they want to hire new graduates like many of these companies do, I don't think the Japanese students are fluent in English, except for a couple of my friends. My Japanese isn't fluent but I'm going to apply anyway. The interviews are in Japanese so I'd think they'd be impressed by my effort at the very least. Conversational is really basic shit.
Business is the ability to use it in an office setting and everyday use. I'd say my Japanese is about business level but I'm just going to say it's fluent, it's about as fluent as a white guy can get without living in Japan, except if you count my friend and roommate who's amazing at Japanese.  (I've only logged about 1 year and 3 months in japan for study abroad but I think if I was there for two more years I would get a lot better.)  I might as well try because you never know what could happen, and besides I already bought my plane ticket to Boston.

he didn't ask where he could buy it, and it's clear everyone would assume that he wants to download it if he didn't specify.  plus, it's pretty clear he'd need it right away to translate a game for a conference that's only a couple of weeks away.

btw i really doubt square/sony is gonna want to see your rpgmaker game sorry bub.  especially because if anything you'd be better off showing them you can translate something that wasn't written by you.  it's easy to write your own words in another language, but it's harder with someone else's since you have to understand what THEY mean.  you already know what YOU mean.

Yeah you're right. I just want to have something to show.
The thing about translating it is just in case they don't know English
it might be easier for them.
I already know the rules of not asking for links to downloads,
but honestly by now I kind of assumed Rm2k3 is freeware,
as it seems that Enterbrain has abandoned it in favor of
XP, VX, and Action Game Maker.

I don't understand why after all these years, people still think they can find help in GW. In case you haven't figured it out by now Nick, no one cares in GW. Least of all about rpgmaker. They just log on here to flame each other and generally act like idiots.

If I knew how to help you, I would.

I've been using this site for a while, but yeah now I'm thinking of moving on to http://rpgmaker.net/
Nobody cares about rm2003 games anymore.
Honestly I like them a lot better. I really don't like the graphics of XP or VX.
I know graphics don't make a game, but the very fact that every game looks
the same even if there are custom graphics, and the high resolution makes
it look worse IMO.
I love the retro look of Rm2k3.
I just love the program because I've used it for more than 7 years and
can do almost anything with it.

SE and SCE have no interest in your rpg maker game

I never said they would. It's not like I want to pitch it that's ridiculous. What I want is to show them SOMETHING.
Besides, I would get sued so far up my ass for all the Final Fantasy characters and music in the game
its ridiculous.

By the way, I can't remember what it was called, but there was a game made in AGS that had two screens, the top with English text and the bottom with Japanese. I thought that was really interesting.

I'm sorry, I'm making generalizations. I just noticed because of its ease of use, the quality of RPG Maker games is very inconsistent. If you look at other Makers like Adventure Game Studio, by and large most of the games are of very consistently high quality IMO.
Also most of the French Rpgmaker games I've seen have incredible graphics. Are the French required to learn Art in school or something?
lol, anyway, I think since I can't find the Japanese version of Rm2k3 and the possibility of my project transferring is nil,
I'm going to make a video then use subtitles in Japanese. Besides, translating the entire game would take FOREVER.

Does anyone know where I can find RPG tsukuru 2003? The reason being I need to do a Japanese translation of my game (I'm a Japanese major) which I want to show Square Enix and Sony Computer Entertainment that I can do game localization when I attend the Boston Career Forum in October.

nickmasterx are you an earthbound fan I just figured RPG CLAY MODELS but maybe not.

that last mockup screen is glorious

also weird touch having the two gnomes have different graphics. I think it adds something like it actually looks like GROUP of enemies and not just a bunch of canned graphics rpg maker 2000 lets you place the enemies in any random spot but it just eliminates the cool-looking symmetry of final fantasies and dragon warrior enemy groups. Having unique graphics for each guy definitely gives it that extra touch that actually makes the 'place enemies anywhere' feature actually worthwhile. For a second it looked like you designed the enemy graphics so NEGATIVE SPACE relative to each other but maybe not it just looked nice enough. Somebody should do that as a feature in one of those few 2d RPGs left - like it's the same enemy type like an group of ogres but they're in this battle formation or just whatever looks natural and each drawing is unique and it's like something out of some war painting like a freeze-frame effect

http://www.legendsofamerica.com/photos-kansas/CivilWar.jpg whatever

Edit: That honestly confuses my brain like Dragon Quest had some enemy sprite that was two enemies in one like TWEEDLEDEE TWEEDLEDUM but you just attack it as one entity or the final bosses from Final Fantasy VI  Thunder and Storm from Earthbound attacking a group of guys treated as one entity confuses my brain

I think Final Fantasy also had an enemy sprite which was like an army of little midgits but they all take damage as one guy

Yeah I'm a huge Earthbound/Mother fan I think its one of the best jRPGs ever made.
It's kind of too late to do clay heroes, I have way to many animations. I think
its fine that the enemies look different, there's many games that do this,
in Final Fantasy 6 enemies are pixels but they have a different style than
the heroes.

Does anyone have a link to the Japanese version of Rm2k3? I want to translate my games to Japanese (Japanese major) I'm going to the Boston Career Forum on October 22nd and I want to have something to show Square Enix that I can do localization.
Would this even work to just import my project to the japanese version?

No offense to anyone making RPG Maker games, but the Japanese RPG Maker games are way more unique than your games. Like Yume Nikki.
I think everyone should try to make something more unique. I can't take RPG Maker games seriously when its like a generic Final Fantasy ripoff # 9000.

It's going to be a Christmas present :)
and there's gonna be secrets and its gonna be funny! And you can see all the cool features I added.
Its really going to be an entirely different game almost. I'm adding SO much. You can interact with
everything, Nick responds to everything NPCs say, ect!
