honestly i don't think that empty quoting happens THAT much at GW compared to other places. for example reading stuff like comedy goldmine topics at SA (especially if they are about art) can be really annoying because they are REALLY long but only because about 3/4 of the replies are just quotes, although sometimes there's a short, worthless response like "lol" after the quote.
