I think the free-to-play thing is pretty good. They're not giving them all away, generally you'll get a level or two for free demo/shareware style and then you can unlock the rest if you pay. Given that the console has its own interface/user profile thing going on I think buying games on it won't be much different than any of the others. According to the requirements for having a game on their store there's a Ouya payment API, so there is definitely a developer payment mechanism.

It's pretty much just an overpriced android box that people are going to use to emulate SNES games on their TVs. Other than that, there's a ton of terrible shovelware titles like this thing.

"overpriced"? It's 99 USD, the higher end android-TV device I've seen runs about the same price or more and even they typically have lower device specifications and no controller. Tegra 3's still aren't cheap.

;) also I'm pretty sure that this can probably run Dreamcast emulation so it'll be a pretty nice multiplatform emulator box.

yeah android is basically a modified Linux Kernel with a runtime consisting of the Dalvik VM and core libraries. Seems to me that Android is a good platform to put on something like this because there's a lot of software already available, the hardware(Tegra 3) was pretty much designed with that OS in mind, and it has relatively mature developer tools. why is running android a bad thing?

I'd ditch the MLM bullshit and stick with just the first M. ;) The three volumes of Capital, the Grundrisse, and The German Ideology are all incredibly important books that are about as fresh today as when they were written. I've been doing a study of Marx's critique of political economy in my spare time for a few years now and recently picked up Michael Heinrich's Introduction to the 3 volumes of Capital and it's very good considering that it's just an introductory text; I'd really recommend it. There's a growing body of literature associated with value-form theory taking a fresh look at Marx's "wertkritik" since the availability of the economic manuscripts. It's fascinating because it seems to buck a lot of the orthodoxy rooted in 2nd/3rd International dogma opening the way for a fresh and timely re-evaluation of Marx, although a lot of it seems to be philology it's still pretty interesting if you're into this sort of stuff.

this show grates on me really bad and it's hard to put my finger on why.
i saw the first season with my wife and it seems to want to capture the life (non-)experience of a bunch of ambitionless homely emotional children slumming it in Brooklyn, waiting for their parents upstate to die so they can inherit everything. which is fine in and of itself but I can't think of anything more banal.
wait have you always been married?
yeah.. quite a while now

i'm more like them than i want to be, ideally, apart from the money part because I've never had zip but it feels like maybe it is heading somewhere and since lena dunham obviously doesn't expect you to think any of these people really have their shit together in any way, i don't get why they would annoy you. they're all dumb. it's a pretty good representation of being in your early 20's and realising you have no fucking skills and that just being you doesn't mean anything.

That's the thing, it's just so goddamn boring. Bunch of white losers from upper-middle class background who don't have their shit together, but at the same time face no real adversity outside of their own malaise... big deal, may as well watch cat videos on YouTube you know? There's opportunity for some gritty shit about on how fucked up it gets for kids out there but instead it seems like it actively avoids these things to be something like a conversation-starter that cool-mom can watch with her teenage daughter.

it's really shocking that grown-ass-men write and produce this stuff... sure they gotta play to the "gamer audience" but like this kind of smug wannabe high-mindedness mixed in with straight up juvenile portrayals of socialization indicates that they're not simply pandering to the lowest common denominator, but actually trying to be pretentious. it seems like this stuff is made by bedwetters with access to wikipedia

Well i mean i actually like some animes and that kind of narrative-heavy shit too, it was just described to me in a manner you just did here: infantile melodrama trying to be "mature"

i use sophos, mostly cuz i get it free from school but also because it's really lightweight, doesn't have a stupid UI, and is generally just something that i hardly see unless it picks up something.

if i wasn't getting this for free i'd be using ESET NOD32 which is prob. the best IMO

hundley is right tho, shit's so irreparably fucked in the media and it's going to continually get worse and worse

This is defeatist and unrealistic, even. Both mainstream opinion and social media have been behind the curve concerning civil progress. Consider that black voting privilege was ensured only 48 years ago. Since then, both public opinion and media portrayal has been changed in a vast way, even though it took time. I do not believe the media is going to make significant backwards turns as long as the criticism exists and the opinion is held that racial and sexual stereotypes exist. The changes are god-awful slow, but as long as there is an opposition, the sentiments change, whether it be the old ignorance dying out, or a more accepting generation moving in.
Sure, if you omitt the previous statement. I am 100% serious that everything subsumed by capital turns to shit(see: Marx, Debord) and will continue to so long as value is in operation contorting the totality of social existence around extracting money and time from people.

"We call communism the real movement which abolishes the present state of things. The conditions of this movement result from the premises now in existence."

So get on it comrades

Anyone know of any routines to actually put on weight?

I'm 6'1" but only 118 lbs (!) - haven't gained weight since highschool and that was almost 10 years ago. Tried eating tons and eating unhealthily but nothing ever worked so maybe weightlifting is the way to go? I hate being skinny!
holy moley! yeah, get in the gym do that routine i posted, and try drinking like a weight-gainer shake.(don't go overboard with it, just do like a half serving once a day at first and then do 2 half-servings spaced out through the day once you start working up to heavier weights)

you'll actually start to see results really fast because you're starting skinny and your metabolism is apparently super awesome
