I'm taking my B. Ed. and trying to sell spec screenplays. I'm still a dickwad, though.

This is absolutely crazy! Worms Armageddon was one of my favourite games ever and this is pretty much an exact clone so how could I not be wildly happy?

I have read Ager's stuff and I have to say that sometimes he falls short of clomplete lucidiy of deep concept, especially in reference to Kubrick's work. The one that stands out most is Full Metal Jacket, where he didn't quite align the dualistic indoctrination of the characters Rafterman and Pyle through the first and second acts... that is, if Ager is the guy who I think he is?

I can't beleive you left out Coppola's Bram Stoker's Dracula from your list, Roman. That movie is a total mindfuck.

The new He-Man was amazing. And its not that a cartoon can't be strictly commercial anymore, but there is a greater demand for edutaining children's programs now, with more of a focus on child delevlopment than child entertainment, and there are broadcasting restrictions on children's content and how much of it should be socially valuable. A lot of the strictly commercial stuff of the last ten years comes from Japan. They rule at capitalism.

And yeah, because of these changes, as well as the rise of digital television, there are no longer saturday morning cartoons. Channels that specialize in children's content have pretty much started to dominate the market in that respect, and so it doesn't make sense for the networks to aim for that audience one day a week when there are half a dozen digital channels who specialize in drawing them pretty much every hour of the day.

It was at its worst between 1982 and 1990. After the lisence to print money that was Ninja Turtles, concerned parents groups began to put pressure on the FCC to tighten the bolts. The period from 1990 to about 1997 was a time of creativity then, where Warner Brothers especially tried to do more artistic and progressive things with children's animated programming, but the massive anime invasion at the end of the 90s (again a huge commercial force for japanese transmedia franchises) forced broadcasters to take another look at the social value of domestic programming and the bolts were tightened once more. After 2002, you will find action-adventure series in a slump and struggling to be realized. Example that comes to mind is the award winning re-imagining of He Man and the Masters of the Universe, which only got two seasons of air time despite its rich artistic appeal and engaging serial adventure storyline.

The difference is that now on pretty much every children's show they have an educational specialist who reviews the material before it is produced. Broadcasting standards basically prevent cartoons from being half-hour long toy commercials, which is pretty much what all the good stuff from the 80s and early 90s was.

Watched The Untouchables last night. Not a fan of Kevin Costner but the De Palma built suspense pretty masterfully in more than a couple scenes. Looks more new-wave than other films of the era.

As long as we are on the topic of Asian actors, I really like Robin Shou (Liu Kang from Mortal Kombat) and I think he could have had a really good career, had he developed a 'straightman' type of character, if he had branched or been branched out more. Its sad that martial arts actors never really get the chance to flex their acting chops. Its something I've heard Jackie Chan complain about on a couple of occaisions.

Vanit, why not just take rips of the models in different frames of animation? Take a cap of the bacground too! Make it look 3D, if you can. Going to all that effort to emulate the system mechanics exactly and using less-than-mindbending pixelart wouldn't do it justice, but models might.

I really like Craig Ferguson! I think that Lord Cronos of the Monkey People is great, he's not afraid to fall back on classic stuff like throwing a pie now and then, and his style is very tongue-in-cheek and I find it hilarious. Because his interviews are more conversational, it really depends on who he has on the show as to whether or not its hilarious.

And come to think of it, I haven't seen Conan since he moved timeslots. Maybe I'll watch for it tonight.

best film confusion ever was when my dad was getting a rental DVD off lovefilm (they post them to you) and we told him to get "the dark knight with heath ledger in it" and he went and got a knight's tale delivered. Sure it has heath ledger and "knight" in the title..... dad fail...

this is the greatest story ever. you should seriously think about getting it published or adapting it to film

I have to agree that that was actually quite entertaining and fairly well done. I really enjoyed it, the music was decent and reminds me of math class, despite the fact that I haven't had a math class in six years.

Get some exercise and try to go to bed before midnight more often. Your body's internal cycle is actually more closley linked with sunup and sundown that you would want to admit. Exercise during the daylight hours and then when you go to lie down your body will be ready for a rest. Within a week or two, this will make your sleeping more efficient, and you will wake more alert the next day.

I had trouble with lack of sleep/oversleeping for years. The best way to cure it is to just try and live more healthfully and naturally. Don't stay up until three. If its the summertime, when the sun goes down, you should be just about ready to go down, too.

If you work a physical labour job for more than a week, you will want to go down about an hour after dinner, and then you will wake up when the sun rises. I know this because when I was treeplanting, my sleep cycle was almost mechanical. You worked all day and slept all night, and then when it stopped being night, you woke up so you could work.
