Holy moley, roley poley (never had a chance to say that till now), lot's of old faces, feels like a GW revival, but I doubt it.
 
By the way, you can buy RPGMK VX for like £14 on humble bundle store and about a week ago (finished a few days ago I think) you could get VX, XP a bunch of games and graphic assets for like $12.
That said there's a whole bunch of free engines and it's now so easy (compared to before) to build your own it hardly seems worth the the money to buy either VX or XP, especially if you can code in ruby. 
 
p.s. goldenratio, I hate you, the part of london I live in is even more of dung-heap then it used to be 
 

Is it possible to design a game in VX or XP that's 100% procedural? that is to say, the maps, the quests, the characters, etc all dynamicly generated to generate a coherent storyline? 
 
My other thought is I have an idea for a board game I Was thinking of implementing online, it's kinda like, settlers of catan but instead you build an organized crime empire in a city, would it be possible to use XP or VX (with the help of some ruby) to make a PC based client that can connect via an API? I realise it would be kinda pointless but mostly as just as a 'do it because i want to see if it's possible' kind of thing

There's a ton of easy to use blogging software that doesn't rely on thick server side stuff,

The're all based on sinatra, which is what django and express.js are based on, I have a preference for postview and marley but that's because it uses Markdown which I love.

Basicly, I saw this and I'm wondering it It's worth it, what do you think? I'm genuinely tempted (especially now that i'm more capable with ruby programming) but at the same time I don't know if I will ever make any real use of it.

This doesn't really matter any more, I managed to work it out my self.

I suppose the only thing I could really say that I did was that I worked at PayPal for a bit doing software dev with ruby on rails.

1) why do video players lie? I.E., they say they've downloaded so much, but it has to buffer before it's reached that point, why would it have to buffer when the streaming bar show's it having downloaded further then that part it stopped at?
 
2) why do video player's have a heart attack when you decide to skip ahead? no seriously, I click ahead because I've seen this bit and want to watch like, I don't know 30 mins ahead and they player just.... sits there doing nothing, OR they player refuses to skip ahead and just plays the latest downloaded part? 

Yeah, back to this topic again, I've bought most of the components, save the graphics card; this was because I heard AMD were launching a new line of GPUs and have been waiting for non-reference 290's to come out (according to overclockers they will come out around the 15th of jan).
However, after some more research, AMD aren't that good for linux (well, actually I've heard conflicting information on that) and My next computer is going to be a linux box, or at least have linux on it.

SO, question is, should I get the Zotac GTX 780 !AMP edition I can see on scan for £400 OR get R9 290 (most probably ASUS) for about £30 cheaper, keeping in mind that I want to be able to use linux(Mint) and play games and so on.

My current spec is as follows:
CPU: i5 4670k
MOBO: ASUS ITX Impact
RAM: Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 16GB (2x8GB) 2133MHz
PSU: OCZ ZS Series 650W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Boot drive: 128GB SSD scandisk.
 
Oh and for the cooling thing, I bought the Zalman reserator 3 (becuase It's good at cooliing the mobo as well)

Any advice, is well appreciated.

Why what? Be specific, any way, I really am having that issue, I thought some one here might have an answer as to why my router says "connected to the internet" but then gives me "no DSL connection" when I try to access a website.

That would be par for course in my life. But it IS pissing me off.

I have this router made by ZyXEL and it's model number is: AMG1302-T10A.
 
It freaquently lies to me, the router status page show it's connected at some speed (between 4mbp to just over 6mbs) yet sometimes when I try to access the internet, it goes "DSL is down" and other programs and games can't connect despite it showing itself as connected. I do some diagnostics yet the DSL says it's up and the ATM diagnostics also show it's up.
 
So tell me, why is my router lying to me?
 
Also a question, why do web players lie? They show as having buffered x amount in the player bar, but it hasn't reached that point and it suddenly needs to buffer?
 
 
So, on top of my two above questions (the router one being the priority) do any of you have an exerpience with being lied to by technology?
 

I was thinking of using Ruby on rails to make a sort of MO text adventure/choose you're path styled game, not sure how I'd do it but
A) would you play it
b) any suggestions?
C) or is this a horrible idea?
