No, "Williamses'" refers to something that belongs to all members of the family Williams. If it's just one guy, then you'd say "John Williams' house". This doesn't even really have anything to do with possessives since the plural of Williams is Williamses. Simple as that.

Just confirming this is correct (assuming I haven't misunderstood your use of the word 'belongs'). Williamses is the correct plural, Williamses' is the correct plural possessive.

afaik

Just pray someone doesn't have the last name Williamses, because then I'd be baffled too. Williamseses'!?!

ed has been drinking again

Do you have a friend you could borrow a graphics card from for a few hours? It would at least save you the trouble of RMAing something that might not need to be RAMeded. Personally, I'd try a new PSU, but I will also say that I have about a 54% confidence this is correct.

I would also try reseating everything if you can and double checking all your connections.

adobe updates. i don't understand your computer/adaptor setup, your computer is off but it's still ticking over data use? sometimes programs like that can only update when the connection is closed/computer is turned off...

Adobe updates was on, but I don't see where I can disable it from starting. I looked for a service but there wasn't any. I ended up closing the process. :: shrug ::

I'm also baffled as to how it could use ~450mb in about 15 minutes.

Updater has been disabled, although it still had updates to download so I'm skeptical that it was doing anything (unless it is just downloading the same thing over and over).

Do you have a wireless router in your home?  Maybe you should check to see if someone is using your network.

The monitor only monitors from my adapter. We are on wireless, but no unusual IPs have popped up on the network, and even if they did it shouldn't affect the network traffic for my adapter. The traffic seems to be entirely download traffic. I've also run anti-virus/anti-malware and disabled most automatic updaters.

We've been hitting out bandwidth limit the last two months, so we decided to start keeping a closer eye on it (to avoid charges). I installed a program called Bandwidth Monitor. It seems nice and keeps good logs. I had another program before this one and the same following problem occurred.

I went to bed at about 1am. I checked my usage before I went to bed and I was at something like 30-40mb (it resets at 12am). I woke up at about 5am and put a youtube video on while falling back asleep. When I got up at 9am, I woke my computer up (sleep after 15 mins), and checked  my usage. It's at 500mb, which is more than I used for the entirety of yesterday and I haven't even done anything. This happened a few days ago too, where it used 2-3GB.

Ideas??

Card is busted? PSU is busted?

It's hard to tell. 850W is enough for almost any system you'd be building unless you're going really high end, or you have a bajillion HDDs, or something. Nobody can tell you 'exactly' what the problem is, though. It could be a number of things. Easiest thing to do is switch out hardware to test it. If you don't have access to hardware, you should get a motherboard speaker to see if there are any beeps. If you do have one, and there are no beeps, then I do not know.

im so tired

like all the time now

I am just as tired if I get 3 hours of sleep as I am when I get 12. I eat healthy, I exercise moderately, I don't have much caffeine, and all my blood work is normal. I can barely stay awake in class. All I think about is sleeping. Zzz

even when I sleep like 13 hours and I have a headache and feel awful from oversleeping I still feel dreadfully tired

Reviews are often more negative than positive, because people don't rush onto newegg to post how much they like their new product (as a rule of thumb and backed by no statistics).

But I've looked into similar boards and they all have decent reviews. The board is listed on the Asus sight, so maybe that person was just blind. The rest of their complaints are regarding overclocking and such.

I trust ASUS. I have used their boards in all of my builds and I have never read anything particularly negative about the company. Either way, she's looking for a motherboard and not necessarily one with bells and whistles. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, Newegg will DOA it.

The Standard Model is blatantly incomplete. We know this. It will likely go through a million iterations before we have a complete understanding of the physics of our universe, or at least as close as we can come to it. Whether or not the Higgs Boson exists or not is a pretty big topic. The Standard Model says that it should exist, but if we never find any evidence of this then it will be time to move on to alternative explanations. Eventually it comes down to: "Is it more reasonable to postulate the existence of the Higgs Boson than to accept alternative models of mass?"

The i7 has hyperthreading which will be noticeable when you're doing video editing, but the i5 760 is a good candidate too.

Here is the comparison:

The difference is not huge, but it is consistent.

CPU:

Motherboard:

RAM:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145278

There is a problem here in that I don't know how RAM heavy video editing can get. If you notice you're constantly hitting a 4GB limit, then I'd recommend dropping 6GB in instead. I usually build with 4GB, but I don't do any heavy editing and the only time I've maxed it is when I opened a bajillion pictures at once. If you're editing HD video though, this could be a problem (although easily remedied by buying another stick!).

GPU:

This is really optional, but I thought it might be nice to have something with a little more kick. You will be able to game with this card, but it's not going to max Crysis or anything.

PSU:

Subtotal:   $634.9

Alternatives would be to grab an i5 instead of the i7 I have listed. The GPU can be dropped or exchanged for something like a 5550 (which iirc is comparable to the 8400). I don't know if you have anything against ATI GPUs. I am not knowledgeable about the newer Nvidia cards, so you may want to look elsewhere for information about them.
