I still cant believe there's some remnant of these forums and the old website still around. I'm guessin there's too many memories floating around for it to ever die haha.

Wait did GW5.0 or whatever the newest version of it ever actually go online all those years back?

Similar to how the US remade Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.

Although that one spanish movie, with the creepy guy with eyes on his hands and the talking goat was in Spanish, I remember it being pretty popular. I forget the title.

it has been so long though for real, what's everyone up to now? I apparently joined back in 2004....I'm 23 now ha where does that time go?

Last movie I watched  was Godfather 2, not as interesting as Godfather 1, but still, not a terrible movie, if you feed off the vibe that the first one gave. Although, De Niro is probably the best actor in this series. Probably his best performance.

I'm amazed that I came back to this site, I somehow found it even after everything seems to have changed. And I can't believe I remember this thread...... What's the deal with the site anyway?

damn has this forum always been like this? anyway, what up and the Blind Side was a pretty good movie, though I thought it was a little too soaked with feel-goodness, but i guess that's the selling point. anyway, these smiles are nostalgic  :welp:  :fogetbackflip:

Hey I'm looking at various externals to get, but I'm not sure what drive is the best. Basically, I just need one that will chill on my desk and hold my stuff without crashing ever, which is for some reason what externals are known to do...although, is there a difference between a large drive which stays on your desk and one which is "passport" sized that you carry around? Both seem to hold the same amount, but is one more prone to crashing or more expensive? All I really need to know is which is a good brand, but also some tips and experiences concerning externals would be great.

oh, how do I know how many ohms the one I have is? that would be on the box right?

you won't do any damage, but 555's aren't exactly the best set of headphones for a portable audio player and a headphone amp would just be a pain in the ass.

unless you've got an ipod filled with lossless audio, that's all overkill for listening to mp3s
what if it's 256/320kbps mp3s...

and what exactly does it mean that its not the best? like the mp3s aren't good enough quality so they'll sound bad under good headphones? what would a better phone be then?

Okay so apparently the ipod/other portable devices have small output impedence (which translates to how much power they suppy to the headphones). I think the ipod is said to be around 5ohms. Most high end headphones need much much more. The Sennheiser hd 555's for example need 120ohms. My question, is the sound going to be horrible if I don't get a headphone amp? Am I doing any damage by listening to them without one? And what's a good quality yet affordable amp?

I really like both Maudlin of the well and Kayo Dot, though I'm actually still trying to get into them. I agree with whoever said that the heavy parts are really out of place and crushing the atmospheric parts. It's annoying because the softer parts are really insanely good, and the death metal bits are too straight death metal to be too interesting.

As for Kayo Dot, I got into Choirs of the Eye first, and on the 3rd or so listen it clicked, and then on the 4th listen, it unclicked again. I guess you have to be in the mood because their first album is really abstract and boring unless you're in a weird sort of mood. Their second is much better if only because there's more stuff going on. I think it's my personal favorite. As for their newest one, I don't have an opinion of it yet, but that could be because it's a tad unremarkable.

Kayo Dot are pretty cool but their latest album was pretty stale and I'm not horribly excited for the album they are releasing this year. Still gonna check it out though.
What's this talk of a new Kayo Dot album? I heard of new motW but not this....is there info on their site?

also check this if you're on the fence about KD:

Last year my sister gave up chocolate for lent.  We were at my aunt's house for a party and she had one of those chocolate fountains but it was white chocolate.  My sister ate it cause she forgot it was chocolate because of the color.
white chocolate is not actually chocolate
