It's been a while since I don't post anything, so...

The light effect is subtler in the game, but it is barely noticeable in a still screenshot, so I made it stronger for SS purposes  :woop:

I was fooling around with some basic editing to make the phantom train look more usable and less rundown. It moves btw. What y'all think?

Looks great, but the chipset is horrible (or the use of it). Background is good.

Wow. Just wow.
I'm also curious about the rest of the project.

busterblade123 I like the graphics a lot, except for the green building (too green).
I'd make the maps smaller, because there's too much unused space.

Noooooo...
Don't use 2k.
2k3 is NOT complicated in comparison to 2k. 2k3 has more features, but the difference between the two is actually very small. IMO 2k3 is just a better version of 2k. There's no reason to use 2k at all.

I haven't used VX yet, but all VX games look the same to me, so you'll probably have a problem with the graphics part. Or not, if you're great at making custom graphics.

Is that sum 3D? Very cool, too bad I have no idea on how to rate such stuff. But it looks alright to me.

Alright folks, it's finally done! Here's your promised video.~

Super awesome. I like everything about it. And the shop voices are perfect.
But I don't understand why the voices speak English and the game is in German (or something).

I believe everyone is capable of improving their skills in every aspect of game making: spriting, mapping, writing, coding, etc. So "I'm not good at mapping" isn't really a good excuse. If you're not good, get better. Take a look at good maps, check mapping tutorials, practice. That's it. Yes, of course good maps are important.

Quick comments:

Turn Based Combat: Like it.
Real Time Combat: Like it also. Turn based combats may get annoying with time. Real time is more dynamic (I understand this as action combat).
Half turn based/half not IE Super Mario RPG, KOTOR: Don't know it.
Minigames: Extremely important, unless your basic systems (i.e. combat system) are super awesome.
Lots of complex systems like materia in FF7: Not really necessary. May get confusing. One complex system is fine.
Nonlinear story (open ended): Definitely.
Linear story (not open ended): No, unless you're a really great story writer.
Sidequests: Sure.
Multiple Endings: Yes, if it's open-ended.
Good/Evil rating affecting the outcome of the game: Overdone.
Puzzles and other Adventure game elements: Sure, like minigames.

I'm not really sure, but I think it'll fix if you get the EXE file of a RM2K game that has 4 lines, and replace your own. You don't have to reinstall the whole rm2k.

Btw, don't use rm2k. rm2k3 is just better.

IGM is wayyy too confusing :S

 :shocking:

I just downloaded this thing and...

 :shocking:

After almost an hour of messing around, the only concrete thing I could do is making an NPC say "X" instead of "Y".

This thing is waaaaaaay to complex.

Questions:

I looked for tutorials, but didn't find anything like "IGM for dummies". I'm needing something that tells me what to do from the very start. Know any?

Second... does all this complication pay off? I mean, do games made in IGM tend to come out good? And, more importantly, does this complexity allow for complex games, and translate into freedom of doing different stuff, creating different genres?

At this point, I'd like to hear about any experience you guys've had with IGM.

Well, the fake loading screen is just stupid, but I've never seen it. I think it's just an extreme example of how much people try to copy professional games, including their bad parts.

I am an obsessive-compulsive person, and I test my stuff like crazy. If I'm writing a dialogue, for instance, I usually test it every few lines (to see if timing is good, char movement is correct, if the letters don't jump out of the box, etc.). I just testestestestestest. For my Marvel Brothel project, I tested like crazy while doing, but due to deadline, didn't have the time to playtest the whole game, or ask someone to do it. It ended up with few glitches, which I corrected on 2 follow up versions, and there are still some left. So, yeah, programming a game without being obsessed with bugs and glitches is suicidal.

I decided, instead of modernizing my church (see post above), to make it look dark and mysterious. Added an overlay. How does it look?

SupremeWarrior: Both maps look fine, but somewhat repetitive. Try making them less "patterned", and add "stuff".

I'm working on a church map. So far I think it looks empty and not-too-modern (since it's in a modern game). Suggestions on how to improve? Oh, and I also need something to put on the upper part of the center wall.

Dating sims though...I just don't know. Living vicariously through anime romance?

Well... you could say that about any kind of simulator.
Dating sims are fun... It's nothing like "I'm doing here what I couldn't do in real life".

i think, sometimes, we all just have moments of "damn, i'm really in the mood for a dating sim."

Precisely!

Considering the Marvel Brothel game you made i'm not surprised your into this kinda thing, are you into other SIMs aswell?

Funny thing though if you made the people you date the idiots that follow you around in an RPG and put basic RPG game mechanics into the game (battles, exploring and everything) it'd end up being an RPG with a deep (as far as deep goes with the standards) interelationship system with your party.

I think one of the Personas or something has dating sim segments when your not in dungeons killing demons.

Interestingly, what made me want to play a dating sim was watching my brother play Persona 4. It has a relationship very much like a dating sim, except it involves all kinds of relationship, not just dating. That would be even more interesting, but I don't think there's a game like that. I want a dating sim because I lost patience to RPG elements.
And yes, I'm into all kinds of SIMs.

Thanks for the games pointed out! I'll look into those. Found some flash dating sims on Newgrounds as well!

I REALLY feel like playing a dating sim. One with anime images, full of dialogues (preferrably not too linear), in which I have to manage something (character schedule, attributes, or something like it - not just talking). Sex/hentai is welcome, but not necessary. Nice graphics also welcome.

The only one I've ever played is True Love. I want something like that.

And, of course, something I can find around the web.

What's the point of playing only half the game? Or less, if more than 2 people are part of this.

How.. can you say it doesn't mention it, when if you just click the link and search "goug cup" it comes up?

Like.. how? What?

Honestly, it didn't come up. I typed "cup" and looked for every match, I didn't see Goug cup.
Weird.

Anyway... never mind.

I checked gamefaqs hundreds of times.

For instance, the "cups" missions unlock each other. For example, Moorabella Cup unlocks Fluorgis Cup, which unlocks Goug cup, which apparenly unlocks something else. The walkthough doesn't even mention Goug cup. It's not complete at all.
