that's a really great way to put it. i like thinking of games as being something humans didn't really come up with, our universe is just inclined towards producing smaller fucked-up versions of itself forever, and the rabbit hole of increasingly disassociated conceptual realities never stops

until eventually it's all like that picture. that picture is amazing. PYRAMID. UNTOUCHABLE. DELTA HERO (i cant parse that ones cover).

i mean when i was a kid i literally couldn't imagine people making games, i figured NINTENDO / KONAMI / CAPCOM or whatever were all essentially demigods who kinda existed outside my plane of existence and produced microworlds endlessly from a void- like, they were these ghostly figures who made themselves apparent at startup never to be heard from again... where have the ghouls gone...

idk i kinda like picturing all these games and titles as alternate universe versions of all the huge-name franchises for NES and arcades. part of why i love bootlegs is cuz they make me feel like all software is infinitely vast and you can find a million strange nonsensical reimaginings and reworkings of the exact same thing just endless reugurgitated for eternity, like some tragic deity trapped in their own creation and trying to make anything new of its base parts.

also i can picture walking across that "pyramid" game and just being overwhelmed by sense of dread, compelled to buy it, never able to stop wondering about the mysteries of PYRAMID...

oh wow goddesses!!! my dream console!! i'm overflowing!! i'm freaking out!!! i'm DYING... wait no, but on the wiki for that console i saw watara supervision mentioned which brought back memories...

a few years ago i helped out at some Old Game Zone, and one day this guy brought in a WATARA SUPERVISION with huge stacks of sealed carts... i remember being so blown away by all these incredibly generic, maliciously tacky packaging and names... felt like ghostly imaginings of "real" games processed thru schemes of nefarious overlords trying to cash in on the gameboy craze... also it had cool bendy plastic bit between the screen and buttons that made it so you could kinda bend the screen towards you! wow! HOW NOVEL...

i think the extent of PSX library makes it feel like anything could be there... i like the idea of making games as a means of evoking the ghost of forgotten 3d realms. trying to channel primal essence of crunchy 3d playstation bizarrogame

when i was a kid, in relation to obsession with glitching out stuff and general mystery of Video Game, i had a dream about bomberman 64 where there was another floating world above even the "rainbow palace", and it was just this freezing, brutal sheer rock formation held by chains floating above and to the side of everything else, climbing ramps and doing lots of bomb jumps, and there was nothing there but a huge unenterable temple on a plateau at the top... i always rly wished there were more impossible hidden zones in the existing zones we occupy

really fascinated by eternally shifting aesthetic / perspective, little 2d anime sequences juxtaposed against lonely first-person segments where you wander strangely intricate, empty 3d areas with chirpy music

if you say my name, i appear to haunt this thread, like the horrible spectre of capitalism itself...

i had a vision recently of "eegah 2" which was huge 2015 blockbuster suspense thriller sequel, and it was mostly just richard kiel stumbling around a labyrinth of muslin caverns dripping with wet paint, tripping over things and stopping to cry occasionally

not sure if this is worse than the endless collecting in most of rare's other games, honestly
