AAA games in general are not my cup of tea. Aside from how expensive they are, I find the majority of them boring and would much rather play a cheap indie game like Shovel Knight or something.

Not watching anything right now, but lately I've been watching a lot of Mike Matei on Youtube. Last night I also watched a Fistful of Dollars with my roommate. I don't have Disney Plus so I can't really watch Star Wars right now. Might check it out in the future though.

Last night I had a weird dream where I ate my wallet. I have no idea why I ate my wallet as if I were Matter Eater Lad, but I remember how much I thought it would be a pain in the ass to replace my credit card, ID and the wallet itself.

I think that sounds like a cool idea. I like the beach and ocean theme would be cool, make a game that involves the sea in some way, leaves a lot of options open for everything from pirates, fishing or even physics based puzzles.

This is a pretty chill song, reminds me of Japanese Oasis.

I think a game jam would be a great idea. Got any ideas of what the theme is or if there is a theme? We should brainstorm a bit.

Personally I think it's best to start small. The main focus I think should be RPGMaker, Godot and Game Maker stuff. Rather than hosting the games on the site just create pages which links to the games on Steam, itch.io, etc. That would allow games to have pages of their own where people can upload screenshots and promote their games without necessarily having to be hosted on the website. Other than that it can be used to host tutorials, news and some resources ie: RPGMaker tilesets. Basically kind of like the way the original website was at first, and over time new features can be implemented. As for who the website should be made for? I think primarily RPGMaker users and indie developers.

I'm looking to go and switch to Linux some time in the summer, let me know how it is and if possible send some screenshots.

I heard that as well. Old consoles and home computers had difficulty with scrolling, the MSX scrolling issue is also seen in the Sega SG-1000, Colecovision and the Casio PV-1000 as well, so it wasn't unique to the MSX. It's hard to believe but at the time of it's release the Famicom was a graphical powerhouse unlike anything seen previously.

I really got into the MSX since about 2007-2008 when I started to emulate it, learn about it and atart learning about the community and MSX programmers and game developers at the time. I got my MSX Turbo R around 2008 I think but only had a small collection until about 2020 when I really got into it during the pandemic

The MSX had this weird thing whereby it couldn't really do scrolling very well, so it's very jerky. In order to do smooth scrolling on the MSX requires some weird programming magic that very few developers were able to pull off.

Thanks. I put a lot of work in my tilesets and wanted my town to look colorful and alive.

MSX is great. Most people are unfamiliar with it because of the fact that it was almost totally exclusive to Japan. It is fun to collect for but also very pricey, it's one of those consoles where you might have to buy directly from Japanese sellers if you want decent prices.

I want to learn how to program for MSX some day, but it requires me to learn Basic.

Cool. I'll miss seeing you around the Discord channel, but I'll go and download IRC again and go to the forums regularly so we can keep in touch.

Deciding to show off my MSX collection.

My MSX Turbo R, the best MSX computer you can get.

Some custom MSX posters, mostly covers of the Japanese MSX Fan magazine.

My MSX game collection, which I'm quite proud of.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the MSX, it's a Japanese computer from the 1980s which was very popular in Japan and enjoyed some moderate success in other parts of the world but ultimately didn't take off in North America. It was contemporary with the Commodore 64. Several major Japanese game developers made games for this system, in particular Konami (before they became stupid). This computer is also where the Metal Gear series started. I live and breathe the MSX, it's my favorite 80s computer and my collection is still expanding. If anybody wants to learn more about it check out www.msx.org.

I know dos talked about it before, I mostly wanted to see everyone's opinions and ideas on the matter without acting like the webpage was guaranteed to happen before it launches.

I agree, hero. A simpler webpage would probably be best, not so different from the original webpage albeit updated to modern web standards and maybe mobile friendly. While adding in extra stuff like GW radio and streaming stuff would be cool, the main thing I wish for would be a good place to showcase game projects, resources and community news.

Another screenshot. It's Tai once again in trouble, this time with the Rebuilders in Rubyville. Rubyville is the headquarters of the Rebuilders revolution and apparently a nice town, but things aren't always as they seem as you meet the leader of the group, Drol.

Here is a new screenshot of Astral Fantasy. In this scene, Duke returns to his throne room, angered about being humiliated by Tai's escape. When he arrives, he finds none other than Big Caesar (his hologram at least) sitting on his throne, and he is not happy about how things have been going on Fierra lately.

I've talked about this before, but I want to discuss the possibility of bringing back the old GamingW website, or at least a new website for GamingW. I think there are a number of advantages to this, but I'll also acknowledge some cons as well.

Pro
 - Will create a new hub for our community to post news, resources and promote games. Even if we use itch.io for hosting the games themselves, GamingW could be used as a way to link these games in one place and make them more easily accessible and also to promote them.
 - The website can attract new members, or members from RPGMaker.net. I doubt GamingW.net will ever be as big as it was during it's prime, but any growth is good.
 - With RPGmaker.net down for the count GamingW.net can essentially fill the gap. As it stands I don't think there is an equivalent RPGMaker website anymore.
 - We can link people's Twitch accounts to show when they're streaming, as well as the forums and GW music all in one place.

Con
 - It will be a lot of work, especially to get it up to modern web standards.
 - More attention isn't always a good thing, especially if it attracts undesirables. Even barring this the larger a community becomes the more difficult it gets to manage.
 - The work might not necessarily pay off.

What are your opinions on the matter?
