one of my parents passed away today.
if it wasn't for them I probably wouldn't have liked video games.
Earliest memory was watching him torment himself playing Zelda II.
I remember spending weekend evenings when they were off of work playing that game nonstop.
And he would bring a random big box dos game home every now and then when we first had our Packard Bell family PC.

Anyways, he is indirectly responsible for me finding out about this website because he made me interested enough in computers and the internet to learn everything I could about them.

The last game we were able to play together was Fallout 76. It was a horrible shitty mess of a game. But my sibling and my parent had a good time playing through a bit of it. We never got around to finishing it because it became too shitty to tolerate. They also loved Civilization and would often borrow my Switch to play Civ 6 on it.

I guess moral of the story is people dying really sucks.

I'm sorry to here that man. It never gets easy. But while it may be easy to get lost grieving that they're gone, we musn't let that take away from celebrating that they were here.

I am thankful that I was able to move near them and spend the last few months around them. Nice to have a little bit more time.

Those turned out pretty cool. I dig the FF6 one specifically.

For that, I'd recommend checking out batocera if your purpose is to use it solely for retro gaming.

A week later and Mein Penis is still my avatar.
It's starting to get cold and I love cold weather.
Started ANOTHER new job and it's going good.
I have one last final to toil through.

And uh, that's it for now.

I'm LegoNenen (sometimes just Nenen) aka C.N.Gentle. Jewish Jesus-Freak. (also had a black-belt in Tang Soo Do)
...
Been wanting to make games for a long time, and KotOR gave me my love for RPGs, but it wasn't until I finally tried out RPGmaker that I thought that maybe I could actually make RPGs (a very diffucult genre for beginners)
Mostly use VX Ace nowedays, (for the longest time it was the Lite version, but now I own both it and XP)
...
I've studied Writing Fiction on my own, but am mostly untested when it comes to actually showing off my stories.
...
I'm fairly proficient at Art, I hope. and am often editing and making tiles, sprites, etc... (Many of which I've shared on Itch.io and the forums)
Outside mostly failed game-jam projects, haven't actually released any games yet.
Also working on some Music composition... None released.
...
I didn't necessarily consider myself a fan of the 'Horror' genre, but I've played a few good games there, and some of my projects could rightfully be called that.

Welcome in!

Knights of the Old Republic is a great game, stayed up many nights playing that when it came out on the OG XBOX along with Morrowind. RPGs can be really time consuming to make. I've only ever been a part of one finished RPG, and that was the 2023 Chaingame.

Hope to see what music and games you put together! :gwa:

Part 6 Mindless leveling and the Ice Cave

Spent some time grinding away and trying to learn some new abilities.
Vivi learned Blizzard and Thunder.
We ventured into the Ice Cave and was annihilated by a Sea Lion and a black mage looking creature called a Black Waltz.
Tried the fight again and didn't die because I actually paid attention instead of being distracted.
Left the Ice Cave and leveled up a bit more.

Found what appears to be an airship landing spot, and challenged an old man to a game of Tetra Master.
Ran into a special Mu creature that wanted some Ore. Not really sure what the outcome of that was but maybe it will pay off later.
I ran into one of those quiz random encounters too but failed it because I forgot the name of the person who wrote "I Want To Be Your Canary".

Explored the town, which apparently is somewhere that Zidane has visited before.
The Innkeeper in town was a little weird but let us stay at the inn for free, so can't really complain.

I saw some active time events of Vivi exploring the town and noticing more people acting weird, and one showing Garnet (now going by the alias of Dagger) learning how to fit in by being scared of bugs.

coming out with a new album soon-ish. Making one track a day on my days off, from composition to mastering. I'm also past my quota of song titles, I have like 9 for an album after this, including another Korean word from this book that I'm reading

uploading mastered versions here in advance

Part 5 Plant Brains and Petrified Forests

We search the ship for treasure and end up finding Vivi depressed as he feels that he failed to protect the princess. We make a promise to see about getting her back.

After fighting Baku (and dying once), we are permitted to leave and attempt to rescue the princess. We convince Steiner to help out, and gather Vivi as well.
The ability system in this game is pretty fun, you can earn AP after each battle which levels up abilities that are attached to each piece of equipment. Once you gather enough AP, you can permanently keep your abilities.

We set some abilities and prepare for our first non-scripted combat encounters. We fight a few hordes of Goblins, and talk to Monty the moogle. We deliver a letter and save our game.

After proceeding a bit further up the path, we encounter a giant plant creature. We enter combat, and Vivi gets knocked out fairly quickly. Blank joins in to help out. We spend some time reviving our party members and healing while also delivering some damage and stealing some items.

We end up saving the princess, but after that the floor collapses near where the party is standing and stange bug creatures appear. We are being chased by them. We have to fight one group in order to escape, but still more are chasing us. Blank attempts to give us some time to escape. The whole Forest and Blank begins to turn to stone.

The party escapes, and give the princess time to rest.

After this, we are able to traverse the overworld. We level up for a bit and save / quit at the North Gate.

No one should give a shit but I need to vent about petty game RNG: I have catalogued 159 books in this game, Book of Hours, for my library and not one book I've rolled has Knock as the principle, out of 13 possible principles...!

Context:
You get to read a bunch of books in a library to learn occult skills, but you also are the librarian so you order and organize books. Books are random every time you find a little package.
I've somehow failed to find books pertaining to an entire occult school.

I've been playing the new Pokemon TCG mobile game, and it's pretty reliant on luck. Or at least at the moment as I don't really have too many cards to choose from.

Book of Hours looks pretty fun, and I just learned that Europe has a fund for creatives thanks to the steam page!

Ubuntu and Linux Mint are two really good options. My recommendation is trying on a virtual machine or even through the Windows 11 Linux Subsystem before committing so you can get some experience with it. But if you have an old laptop or computer lying around, might as well give it a try that way if it's easier.

Just played through the first chapter again recently, and it was just as fun playing through a second time. Looking forward to the second chapter.
