if you had to choose one way to listen to music, which format would you pick? (tape, streaming, cd, MP3, etc.)

i'm thinking about getting into collecting music but cannot decide which media format is worth it.
Streaming is obviously the most convenient one, but I would like to actually own music. And I feel that MP3 is kind of cheating even if they don't have DRM locking them down.

I like that tapes are portable, but I can't remember if the sound quality is poor because it's been so long since I've listened to a tape.
CDs are nice but they are a pain to lug around if you're walking somewhere and from what I remember they tend to skip when listening on a portable player.
vinyl seems fun but not really portable.

maybe I should just get an mp3 player.

i dig the style of it, will have to give it a try eventually.

i've been gaming mostly on my steam deck these days and kind of wish that I bought one sooner because it's a super convenient little device.

yeah unfortunately the game kind of doesn't end but there are unfinished parts as the game goes on, so you don't really know when to stop playing. But basically until you get the ship that can sail over deep water, the game is intact.

It's a little annoying though how some areas have virtually no enemies that drop gold, while others practically all the enemies do, like in the pyramid. Basically any humanoid enemy that you can imagine carrying gold, does, while the more animal-like enemies don't, just give you experience

I download FLACs from Bandcamp, but that's because I have a nice soundcard and speakers that I can only use with my laptop. I have CDs but they're from a long time ago

actually I do get some CDs when they don't sell on Bandcamp. Like I am getting the new Osamu Sato CD. Also Future Sound of London has some albums (annoyingly) only available as CD

this is a pretty decent RPG demo, nothing special but nice graphic style and gets the job done while it lasts

suffers a little bit from extra party member bloat near the end, though. I didn't even try out the monk guy

Edit: oh yeah, the sword on the roof is such an oldschool rpg thing to do, literally makes no sense in real life but cool in the context of a game

EP but with 7 remixes by different Jeskola Buzz users

under an alias I haven't used since like 2010, with maybe one track previously under the name

just remastered this, but a lot of stuff is sourced from mp3s and stuff so it's not perfect. Sorry, the stuff is from like 2009-2011 and that's the only copies I had left

https://djsaint-hubert.bandcamp.com/album/sedenion-automata-tracks-vol-1 this uses a custom generative MIDI script that works in a really weird way, and I'm not exactly sure if it's random or not tbh. It seemed to sound better than random values though

this is also a very good netlabel that started a long time ago

https://kahvicollective.bandcamp.com/

they've also got an archive of back releases, altogether everything's like 8 days worth of music (that is, 8 days of constant listening)

Earthbound
LSD Dream Emulator
Mystical Ninja 64 Starring Goemon
Super Mario 64 (also playing Infinite Mario 64 is fun)

well those are the ones I still play to this day. I had different favorites growing up though

my first real Windows computer was in 2000 I think, just in time for RPG Maker 2000. I didn't know how lucky I was to find an accessible game engine almost immediately after getting on the internet. I had one of these I think in my early years

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp71oY1RFGk

but it was very crappy. I had Robotron and some Beetlejuice shooter game and my mom played a Jeopardy game with her friend. Everything was in 4-color mode so just white, black, magenta and teal. The Beetlejuice game had a 16-color mode I think but it wasn't compatible with this computer. Also that version was on a 3 1/4 floppy instead of the 5 1/4 floppies so that might've been why I couldn't play that version. I think I had the computer way past its prime, when I had the SNES and maybe even the N64. So I didn't really use it much, and when I got the NES running again and bought new games for it, it didn't even scratch the retro itch as well anymore, as the NES games had better gameplay (for the most part) If I had something cool like Lemmings I might've played it but I had the SNES version anyway. The only game that didn't come with the computer was the Beetlejuice game and I think we got that at a tag sale, there was nowhere to buy new games for it

Edit: Actually I think we also got this Jetsons game that was very bad. What I really wanted at the time was an RPG for it, Ultima might've been good
