kind of loud if you actually had icons on the desktop

I used a screenshot from an itch.io game as a background for some reason

if there's any icons that reveal my name or anything please let me know but I think it's all safe

lol messy desktop. For some reason I backed up a few Reaper effects I made to the desktop, even though they're ridiculously outdated by now and should probably just delete them. Also a bunch of modular synth programs but the only one I really use is Buzz

also a text document full of song titles I generated by telling ChatGPT to generate scrambled words but it doesn't actually know if something's scrambled so it just makes nonsense words

ok, it seemed to work on Windows even after downloading the .dlls. But some of the scripts didn't work correctly and things like that, not sure if it wasn't coded right or if it's missing chunks of data from the USB drive since it was like 14 years old.

Here's what I found though

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ji0JbeRkDtZfa8235OCd1aPORJN9bleV/view?usp=drive_link

tilesets for a stealth game called Leet Ops

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WZZfZYYdonM2Ok3liCyWMdKvx8SFllpl/view?usp=drive_link

Earthbound type game idea. There's a way in the script to jump to a battle sequence with visualizations, but I forgot how. The menus aren't coded anyway

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TiLole-zwJ-vB9WB97C9yXiUaWbZ-1OF/view?usp=drive_link

Dragon Quest clone I can't get working

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eAzeG8UPRMCF-2Yjufmf_mYXZBEpqF7a/view?usp=drive_link

Sim-Amoeba - Epidemic, attempt at a port of Doppleganger's old rpg maker game where you just watch an amoeba in a petri dish. I was obsessed with pushing a lot of sprites onscreen because rpg maker couldn't really do that

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1BGhV1P6rjnkvX_Y5BXNDMfKWlCumcMjV/view?usp=drive_link

Supar Jablomfy Maen ika port - probably the most complete game of the bunch. Has a bit of the first (and only) stage, with most of the collision done

Edit: If I made a game today it would be like an exploration kind of LSD Dream Emulator-type game, with some surreal visuals and of course custom music. I can't imagine making a Dragon Quest type game now, I've become intolerant of the grind of RPGs these days, and I think like I said the story usually isn't in-depth enough to be entertained by that. Plus I don't think I can really write a coherent story. If I actually finished a game it would have to be something very abstract. Back then though I was entertained trying to make menus and interfaces, which I kind of actually got to apply to something useful now that I write audio plugins for myself. But yeah I was very isolated growing up and didn't read enough, so writing an entertaining narrative is kind of beyond me. I'm glad games have seemed to have shifted to nonsensical/atmospheric/experiences because I think that's really the strength of videogames anyway. And now I make music that is very atmospheric and kind of lends itself to an abstract story in ur brain so that tracks

Is that the sample game in the screenshot btw? How'd you find that?

Edit: I also had a James Bind sequel that was going to make use of vehicles and mouse aiming and all this ambitious stuff and I had some sprites designed with a lot of animation but I lost that. There wasn't even any combat or menus or anything though. I'm surprised I got as far as I did with Supar Jablomfy Maen Ika Port. Most of the games I made in ika were the equivalent of basic Unity projects today, where you're in first person, walk around a basic level, space to jump, shift to run, etc. albeit with some menus because I liked making those

I am not good gamer. I just play random itch.io demos that only last 30 seconds and I got Donut County but I can't even finish that.

Also got a cheap Chinese PS2 controller because my official one broke and also a replacement ps1 memory card and was playing Tail of the Sun, which is a pretty funky game.

Also have been playing through Earthbound Randomizer on the Anbernic, have like 80 different permutations of it as ROMs. Beat one instance of Ancient Cave so far

I like more EXPERIENCES these days. Hence I play nearly every decent LSD Dream Emulator knockoff that they do for LSDJAM on itch

I also had Alien Hominid for PS2 so I played a little of that, but it's too insanely hard for me. I only got to level 2

I think when I got older I realized I liked the music the best out of all components of game, so I kind of concentrated on making that instead of making entire games. My first batch of tracks were stuff I had as ideas for an Earthbound style game, but then eventually it got more like actual songs sort of

That and I read a lot now because I realized RPGs don't really have that much text in the scheme of things, whether it's because of memory constraints or just attention span nowadays. But yeah books are interesting because it's like you make the graphics in your head and it goes a lot more in depth into dialogue and descriptions of things

But um I looked through all like 11,000 itch.io games tagged 'relaxing' for the ones that interested me by the thumbnail or whatever. A lot of them are very incomplete though. I'd say the most complete ones are the text adventures which unfortunately do not interest me

I found a few old Ika projects of mine (old rpg maker) on a thumb drive from a million years ago, but I don't think any of the .exes ran and the editor is long gone. I was wondering if there's anything I can do besides the obvious Windows compatibility settings to make them run again? Are there any .dlls I'm supposed to have? It's ok if I don't get them running, they're just short demos, but it would still be neat to play them

I'm probably not the best person to give an opinion on music like this, but the recordings were good, doesn't sound like there was much done in the way of effects even if there was, it still has an impromptu feel to it. Relaxing

I could maybe work on music, but I would have to learn how to do Mixolydian mode or something, whichever's the goofy one. I do know how to use the whole tone scale which is pretty goofy as well but kind of spooky

I'm getting some wisdom teeth removed today which will make me not in the mood to work on music for a while, but I guess I could mess with something after that!

Talk about what you are currently playing, or discuss the games that other people talk about here. :wily:

Lately, I've been playing through Dragon Quest VIII. I played it a shit ton years ago and it's been fun revisiting. Love the orchestral soundtrack and the voice acting / graphical style has aged pretty well compared to other games of its era. It's been a lot of fun exploring the world and hunting Metal Slimes. I'd say compared to the other DQ games the story in this one is one of my favorites. I'm just getting to the point where you unlock the casino minigame and I remember spending hours on that damn place the last time I played it. I'm surprised this game has never had a re-release beyond on the 3DS and mobile because it's a really solid game that could just use some minor quality of life things. I've heard they added some new stuff to the 3DS in terms of content so might end up playing that some day.

On the 3DS, I've been playing Chrono Trigger for the DS. Want to try to get through it to check out the extra content at the end of the game.

Besides that, I replay my same damn dark souls games for the millionth time.

I still haven't updated systems since PS2 and I have my old saves of DQVIII, I got a little further but I wish the PS2 version let you do a quick save like Dragon Warrior III for GBC. Like, you won't respawn from that point but it will make a save at that point and erase it when you restart. I heard the 3DS version has that

Edit: I do have a fairly nice laptop so I still have some PC games, and I've got an Anbernic RG something-or-other that plays up to PS1

4. Above, you mentioned: "that time , actually I didn't care real analogue or digital ... I use frequency counter for leading the sound healing by binaural way."? Can you talk a bit about this technique?
I have no license about this sound healing. there are many kinds way of sound healing. original of this sound healing use two frequency for both ear. for example left 90Hz, right 100Hz, then your brain can realize how much different of them, now there is 10Hz. when brain realizing it, also brain makes 10Hz by own, same time it also goes to effect your body. it can be used to reinforcement of the natural health. one of schooler in hawaii research this things and it can be release your Mineral poisoning by using the frequency as a reciprocal number. actually I can not it is how much true ... but I have a text and method what is that. but if it is true, it's so great, without medicine taking, we can get same effect by sound frequency. also they tried to listen us the frequency of dolphin. then tears came out as automatic on audience. anyway that was so impressed me, I didn't want to be the doctor of sound healing.. but it is very important to think another mean of power of sound. if you know well sound frequency what is and how to act for our consciousness. I told you, I had a meditation master he also well know as Indian philosophy too. he talks about three sounds of secret. our brain always can focus on two different sounds, but also can realize three sounds in same time, but that time the brain must be awakening. it is also very interesting for me. DJ mix can be sometimes and I have some experiences like as that at rave event : ) also it is very close psychedelic music or it is. in the 90's I researched that kind of things. I use not 12 keys scale as average rate musical scale. I used frequency counter and use pure sine wave and some times triangle, saw wave too. then tried that binaural way to listen... you know, frequency has much wide range zero ~ infinity.. so low frequency band act for physical body, next high band for nerve system, next range for mind, next for more higher something. so anyway I tried a lots of frequency... at least no big thing happen at around me. but it was happen on true at the Hawaii and U.S. one patient had an operation without Anesthesia, but he had binaural frequency of Morphine. if you can make best situation of the binaural speaker system it will work. but our speakers and sound system has own range with limit. so not easy to make completely right frequency without professional frequency generator. so I don't care analogue or digital, just I wanted accurate frequency. I also interested in Golden ratio music.... but nobody knows what is that... or how to make that. though it can explain to E.T. what is our degree of the evolution. anyway it looks like almost science fiction, is it O.K. for this interview? [matrix: yes : ) it's all part of the connection with synths and music] it is also long story about E.T. : ) actually I am not chasing them well recently. I am not scientist, not new age (but before, I played live for new age event and DJ for meditation session). I believe my sense at the first, I am interesting in which can help my feeling what is. original idea of my music approach came from there. spiritual things, psychedelics, time wave, mayan people... and synthesizer and electro music is the tool for opening our gate of consciousness to the next dimension : ) it is almost fantasy on words.... I don"t know better way to explain ... but music can be without word translating ; ) I think how to sound the music is depends on listener how to get and meaning it. if he feels there is melody then he realize it as song... but it can be possible noise of city, birds of forest and any situation, also electronic sound frequency and processing. any sound also can be music and melody also can be noise if he doesn't care it. but brain is always catching the frequency of all around of you, even if you do not mind it. you can realize where you are the sound come from how far and which side. all by our ear and brain.

new RTP

It was actually an asset pack that UPRC made and was selling over on itch.io. :D He originally made it for a final fantasy inspired game that he was making.
