It's weird that you can buy RM2k totally legally now for like $5.

What brings new people here, anyway?  How did you hear about this site?

Welcome, of course.  But SaltW isn't the GamingW it used to be.

So, where did everyone end up in life? Are any GWers now fathers, husbands, or forever aloners? I think most of us are either in our mid or late 20s now. What kind of jobs have people landed? We need updates.

As for me, I'm managing a pharmacy now. I've been a pharmacist since 2010. Moved to New Brunswick for one year in 2011 and then moved back to Nova Scotia. No significant other. Always thought I'd be married by 28, but I'm 27 now and that doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon. I've almost accepted that I'm going to be alone the rest of my life. Certainly not against the idea of a wife and kids but if it never happens I guess I can live with that. I've always been a solitary kind of dude anyway who never really socialized much out in the real world. But I do have two great cats and finally managed to grow a decent beard; can't complain about that! Gotta look on the bright side of life.
Mateui!  Your life sounds kind of like mine.  I'm 28 now, just got out of the US Army after five years due to an illness (I'm not dying, but I'm not well).  I'm still single with no prospects for someone else.  I just moved back home and got my own apartment and a cat.  I'm also trying to grow a beard, but I keep forgetting to not shave.

So right now I'm unemployed, but I'm going back to school for a master's degree starting in 2016.  Until then, I guess I need a job, but I've got enough saved up to keep myself afloat for a while.  I'm thinking of getting one of my novels published, which I know is nothing special because thinking about and doing something are two completely different things.  Most of the time I just play games and watch movies.

This topic started more than two and a half years ago, so people who joined when it started could almost be considered oldbies.

Are Icepoints still valid after ten years?  I want to cash in for that lotion set.

Is there a reason a lot of the old GW members are coming back, or have we never left and just decided now to show ourselves again?
I still haven't actually left.  I poke around on this forum every few weeks to see if there's an update for A Blurred Line 2.  After ten years, still nothing.

I just got this too, after finding all my old rm2k files.  I want to see if I can get them to work with VX or XP.  If not, I'll hunt down rm2k and feel justified since I paid money for the software.  I want to see all the shit I did ten years ago.

It would change everything if they simply let users put their own RPG Maker downloadable content up for sale instead of just the games. It'd add variety, give incentive to produce MORE non-rtp content, and people would be far more discerning about the level of quality and value they are actually getting out of their DLC purchases.

People paying actual money to have MORE rtp graphics? These are truly, truly sad times we are living in.
I remember there was this pretty awesome site that let you make your own chipsets.  It gave options for faces, clothes, hats, etc.

But to be fair, we were using pirated software.  I don't think there was a single one of us who actually paid for RM2K.  We were able to make these games for free, so charging people to play our games would have been pretty disgusting back then.  But now the indie scene is so huge and potentially profitable, it wouldn't make sense for someone to put months of work into something to give away for free.

I'm not saying it's better or right at all, but at least society for the most part is taking the indie game scene seriously.

Not sure if this is what you're referring to, but it's the only notable graduation photo of me I know of:

frisky you gotta have the xanqui pic......you know which one

I've talked about chef boyardee once before too. it's real weird.
I can think of several pics I've posted, but I'm not sure which you're referring to.  It wouldn't be from the one-man GW meet, would it?

I've been in the Army the past three years.  It pretty much consumes my life, so I don't come here much anymore.  But when I do I find I recognize the names of people less and less each time.  Good to know we're still getting new(ish?) members.

GW definitely made me a more creative person.  Making games got me into writing, and that has become my favorite hobby.  Weirdly enough, the articles I wrote for GW years ago have been reposted around the Internet on other gamemaking sites, though with different names listed as the writer.

Those articles were terrible, but I mainly wrote them for myself, to remind me of what I thought at the time made for a good story.

It's been a long time, but I still recognize a few names.  Marmot, Afura, ATARI, Mateui (holy crap!), Faust (awesome!), Dada, Kaworu, Hundley (I don't think we got along, but hello again!), and geodude are the names I remember from this topic alone.

I can't remember who it was, but someone once saved a quote by me saying I vowed to never, ever leave GW.

God, I just hope the faces aren't as horrifying to look at as Oblivion's.  Those people creeped me the fuck out.  They are a perfect example of the Uncanny Valley.

Fallout 3's NPCs didn't look too bad, so hopefully that is a good sign.

Oh, there also needs to be more quests like the Dark Brotherhood.  Like, an entire expansion pack.

Never could bring myself to go very far in the main questline, but the Dark Brotherhood quests are a cut above everything else. Why wasn't this much effort put into the rest of the game?

Also, Cactus Squid is still awesome
I kept waiting for an expansion pack to come out that would continue the Dark Brotherhood missions.  My dream never came true...

I've been a vegetarian for five years now, and it's honestly not that hard.  The first thing I did was stop thinking of meat as an option whenever I went to eat, so I just bypassed the meat aisles and looked for food elsewhere.

There are tons of vegetarian microwavable meals (I don't care where you live, they are there).  You just have to look for them.  Peanut butter and beans are great sources of protein, and it's not hard to find stuff made of soy to like as long as you are willing to try lots of different things.

But really, pasta is my best friend.  It's easy to make a protein-rich meal with most pastas, and they are just as tasty as pasta without meat.  Try changing it up by throwing bits of morningstar sausages or burgers in if you're craving that meat texture.  That company makes awesome shit.

Oh, also eggs.  Eggs are loaded with protein.  You don't need to eat meat if you can eat eggs.

I love my PSP3000.  It got me through six months of Army training.

But this... holy shit it looks beautiful.  I was vaguely interested in the 3DS, but like Nikuru said, Nintendo depends on their gimmicks.  The PSP2 (I refuse to call it anything else) has actual gameplay mechanics that can change the way a game is played (finally get to use all of our fingers!).  The DS was a ridiculous pain in the ass to play because a stylus plus buttons doesn't fucking work for my hands.  Adding 3D, as cool as it is without glasses, doesn't fix this fundamental problem.

I am pretty sure I will be buying one of these.

I played Borderlands, and I can see why there is so much fuss about the ending.  By far the worst payoff of any game I've ever played.  I don't even want to go back and do the side missions because of it.  Fuck that shit.

Then I played Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, and that was awesome.  There were so many cool new things that made the game way better than the previous ones.  I managed to play the whole thing over a four day weekend.

I'm back to Batman: Arkham Asylum now, but once I finish that, I'll probably start Just Cause 2.  I've got like thirty unplayed games just waiting for me...

it was barely two hours man. why do people always complain about the length of movies. if it's 4 hours or something and not really that interesting then okay i guess (but the length of it wasn't the problem) but why are people like THIS FILM DOES NOT JUSTIFY IT'S 126 MINUTE RUNTIME.....115 MINUTES WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ACCEPTABLE. the length is never the problem.

this is Not Important but i'm the police $-$-$
it's called an exaggeration.  I know the movie was only 2 hours long, but it felt much, much longer because it was incredibly boring.

Just finished watching Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.. Why the fuck that cute dumb bitch jumped into the clouds..
Lo Dark cloud was pretty cool, just learned that he was the inspiration for the design of Prince of Persia..
I don't know how you did that.  That movie was like 32 hours long.
