Just script your systems in loop cycles instead of using parallel processes and you should avoid lag almost entirely.

I liked it too. It reminded me a bit of Enemy Mine, where Dennis Quiad and a rival alien soldier crash and have to learn to help each other out to get back to their respective homes. It was really refreshing to see a big budget movie cast with foreign actors who are well above the game. I like the balance it shows in terms of the different kinds of prawns and people, where most of them are just violent idiots and others are contemplative and intelligent on both sides. Christopher is probably the most lucid and well-meaning character in the whole cast, but because Wilkus has that arc we can say that maybe he comes to be his equal in the end.

Best movie I've seen this year, IMO.

Dishwashing is derogatory, thankless and pretty much an all-around shit job. No one wants to wash dishes, and I think the only way you'd enjoy doing it is if you had a friendly workplace, which is sort of rare in the restaurant business. I work as a chef and I see way too many dishwashers either getting pushed around or just walking about being generally miserable and hating their job/lives.

Do something else instead. Get a job waiting, marketing, selling shit or something else that requires little education.

Drule, if you are the chef then you are supposed to have control in the kitchen. Why not try and make things better for your dishwashers?

Yah, unappreciated is a better way to put it, not as popular and beloved as I feel they should be. I feel the same way about freddy mercury, and how people now don't seem to realize what an amazing showman he was and how innovative his influence became.

It's probably one of my favourite songs ever so I would be upset with myself if I couldn't tell that someone else was trying to identify it. I like it because lyrically its about the way musical tastes change in the popular mindset but good music transcends trends. Also the solo is just bluesy as fuck. I, for one, feel that Dire Straits is a massively underrated band.

Sometimes I still break out Warcraft 2 BNE but everyone on there now is all ladder match hardcore who want to play sapper/dragon maps and my personal favourite is Plains of Snow (Restricted to Keep) because it requires more strategy than "bloodlust all the dragons" but oh well.

For a film student, it might not be pleasant to admit that the only David Lynch movie I've seen is Dune. But Dune is awful. I can't express with English how awful it is; I have never felt such active displeasure while watching a film. I feel now like I can't trust a David Lynch to be enjoyable because he made something like Dune and thought "this is quality cinema".

But everyone says Mulholland Drive is really good so I should get on to watching that.

I for one think that as a society we need horrible diseases like HIV and cancer to test our morals and give our scientists something to do.

One of my favourite paintings was always The Musketeer by Joaquin Sorolla y Bastida. Its a beautiful impressionist watercolour that really inspires a sense of nobility and classical adventure, while being dignified and not to showy all at the same time. I also like "Gassed" by John Singer Sergeant, and I'll probably get a print of it for my office one day... when I have an office.

The problem with the Crystal Skull was that it completely BROKE the Indy Jones film structure. The idea is that Indiana Jones is thrust into a situation as a skeptical scientist, and in the end your suspicions are confirmed that OMG MAGIC IS REAL. The entire structure of Raiders and Last Crusade (and Temple of Doom, in a weaker sense) hinge on the progression from the realistic to the supernatural, and as Indy gets closer and closer to the MacGuffin, the progression becomes apparent, until the climax when you find out what the deal really is. I was rolling my eyes before and after they nuked the fridge, simply because everything up to that point was Hollywood retarded to begin with. The sheer scale and flashyness of the opening sequences completely misses the mark of pulp adventure and aims at high-action, scorning original Indy films were based off of, and the result was something I'd rather not think consider as Indy canon.
Even as a stand alone film it wasn't much better than Transformers.
