So yeah last night my battery started acting very weird saying it was dead yet my laptop kept working for a good 3-4 hours before not even dying. Then when I turned it on the battery seems to work fine. My laptop is getting pretty old (got it in 2007) so I was wondering if I should perhaps change the battery?

Specs:
Battery Information:

  Battery Installed:   Yes
  First low level warning:   No
  Full Charge Capacity (mAh):   1536
  Remaining Capacity (mAh):   0
  Amperage (mA):   0
  Voltage (mV):   11602
  Cycle Count:   211

The model I have is the 13" macbook MA700LL/A

Thanks for you help!

P.S. I just moved to Europe and kinda cause an electric sucharge to my DS by using a converter without ground (since the one with ground was being used by my laptop). Is it possible to just buy a new DS battery or it's completely fucked?

Hey guys, here is the first part of a drum recording I did on Jan 4th to apply as a music major in university. This screening tape is only used to determine if we get an audition. It's Freddie Freeloader by Miles Davis off the 1959 album Kind of Blue. I'd really appreciate constructive criticism. I'm playing over the original song. The file is a bit heavy since the song is 19 mins long and I converted it form wave to MP3 using iTunes.

I've been thinking about this for the last few days. The thought occurred to me as I was listening to a Temnozor album for the first time. Temnozor is a National Socialist band. I thought the music was pure joy even though I really don't support their political and ideological position. You see a lot of bands in extreme music that try to push a certain political or philosophical ideal although it's also seen in much more popular music.

What do you people here at GW think of this? Is it ok for a pop star to sing about his/her political, religious, or philosophical way?

Personally I don't mind it as long as it's not in a very preachy way. I can separate the music from the message behind it thus whether the band sings about killing jews or living in peace I don't mind. I must admit I prefer to listen to bands with lyrics that I can support but if the music is good, the music is good.

Also, do you think there are certain subjects that should not be talked about in music?

I'll just start off with this to see how the discussion goes...

Hey everyone, I've been trying to do a video conference on aMSN. I can see the other person's webcam perfectly but all they see is white. I tried messing around with the built-in settings but nothing seems to work. I can also take pictures with my webcam which works perfectly. Everything seems to be update, I also tried Mercury msn and it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

Hey guys, as some of you do know, I'm from Quebec, Canada. Anyways, recently I've decided that for university I really want to go study in music to get a bachelor's in performance for drums in jazz/contemporary music. I've been mostly checking countries like Norway, Sweden, Germany and Austria recently. I'll also be applying at a university here as a back-up plan. What I was wondering is if any of you have studied in music somewhere in Europe or just if you have any information that most websites don't offer about studying in Europe.

I'm currently practicing like crazy to then record my audition DVD towards August so I can start during the winter semester.

Thanks a lot

Hey everyone, I have a QM exam soon and my teacher did not explain everything that is going to be on the exam which is why I'm having trouble with the notion of "rejection regions". I understand that it's the zone in which the null hypothesis is not probable thus it's the Ha. What I don't get is how we're supposed to get the critical value named Zo. I know I have to do it with the symbol that looks like an a but that's all. My teacher is a huge douche and doesn't really explain anything so I'd really appreciate your help. It's the only thing I don't understand in the whole class.

Hey everyone, The Answer are a hard rock band from Ireland. They're about to start a tour with AC/DC  and they even got featured on Guitar Hero 4. They have a new album coming out soon and it should be pretty awesome. Hell, even the singer from Def Leopard loves them.

Line-up:
    * Cormac Neeson - Vocals
    * Paul Mahon - Guitar
    * Micky Waters - Bass Guitar
    * James Heatley - Drums

Just discuss your impression of their music. Personally I liked it even though I generally dislike hard rock except for old grunge from the early 90's.

For those that don't know, Cryptopsy is a very well known technical death metal from Montreal, Canada (where I live). They became known because of their intense brutality yet they maintained a certain level of complexity in their music. Their drummer, Flo Mounier, would also become a highlight for the band because he can play extremely fast (I personally don't think he's that great but hey, he's still a very popular drummer). Songs like Phobophile and The Pestilence Walketh In Darkness became very popular.

After Once Was Not, Lord Worm once again announced his departure except this time it was final. They also lost Jon who was another very important because he composed a lot of the songs (as far as I know). To confuse fans even more, the band got a keyboardist named Maggie and they got the singer from 3 Mile Scream. Fans were extremely sceptic about the new record and when it got leaked everyone was disapointed. Frankly, the album sounded like complete crap. People started calling them Craptopsy and then it was announed that they did an alternate mix which was actually the final mix. It still sounded like crap and frankly, it was tech death it was more deathcore. Hell, even Flo's performance wasn't as good on the record. Many people called it the new St-Anger. On Metal-Archives the album got an average of 8% with 14 reviews which is probably the lowest rated album on the archives. If you look at any forums, everyone is complaining about the new album yet this month's Terrorizer gave it a 8/10 and several other media outlets seem to love the album.

I personally found the guitars to be too low, completely unoriginal, the vocals were closer to deatcore which I don't like but I can understand that they wanted to make something diferent but they still suck even for deathcore. When he starts singing clean it sounds like crap too. Flo is far from doing anything completely original, he's just there bashing his drums away like a madman yet it doesn't serve the songs at all. Anyways, his ego probably ruined the band. Hell, Maggie even left the band because she was furious that they barely used 5% of what she composed so she left (funny story... my girlfriend knows her because they both come from a small town about 2 hours from Montreal).

Anyways, use this topic to discuss this craptastic about by Cryptopsy/Craptopsy.

A few years ago this seemed to be a dream but recently there seems to be several solutions, the most popular one being Bootcamp. I've also heard of another solution named Cider but it lacks any tutorial or explanation that isn't in engrish to the point that you can't understand it. There's also a program named CrossOver which is supposed to work well. When you go online you can find people talking about how they can run Half-Life 2 and Oblivion on their macs which sounds completely unrealistic. My question to you is do these methods actually work properly? I tried Bootcamp once and I failed starting up a game but that was with the BETA. I'm currently trying to install Guild Wars: Nightfall with CrossOver so I'll post an update about that tomorrow probably.

Recently I've been looking for an anime about romance yet that is still rather mature. My main problem with most romance series, OVAs, mangas and movies I've seen is that they all go really immature, try to be really funny, too much fan service for no reason or they go all pink. So far I've heard that Voices From A Distant Star is pretty good so I'm currently reading the manga and downloading the OVA. I've also watched Love Hina but my main problem with it was by far too much fan service and they just wasn't a really good conclusion to what was going on between Naru and Keitaro. Another series I really enjoyed quite a few years ago was Boys Be, it was just really great but I don't remember a lot of it.

A few years ago I also read the Kenshin mangas and thought they were great. Outside of anime, I really like the Crow (first movie only, I can't find the original comic book series anywhere so I haven't read it yet) and stuff like that. Any anime that's a little more mature is also appreciated. I'm becoming so very difficult with anime hahaha. Anyways, any recommendation is very appreciated.

I've been trying to find information about how to put homebrew on my DS (DS roms to be exact and maybe some music) but there's a few things that are still confusing so I'd really appreciate it if someone could answer these questions:
1- Does it matter if my computer is a Mac? Will I have compability issues etc
2- Do I get any MicroSD card like a Sandisk (I've seen a few at like 10$ on ebay so...)
3- I just put the R4 card in the microSD card?
4- Do I need additionnal hardware/software to connect the microSD to my mac?
5- Is all of this compatible with a fat DS?
6- in general how big are DS games and do they work properly?

Thanks in advance, if I find any other questions I'll ask them. I'm really skeptic before buying the R4 cards and all that jazz

A lot of older people still cling to their old LPs saying it sounds better and such. Many ardent music fans are the same, hell some people believe LPs should be the only format avaiable. Many bands in certain genres still release their new albums on LP format today. I was wondering if any of you guys on the forums still had LPs, if you like them, why and such.

I was always interested in LPs but I only started listening to some during the summer. I found my mom's old box and I listened to some good old Neil Young, Cat Stevens, America and such. I was also interested in getting myself some metal LPs but my turn table was only a mono so it sounded pretty crappy. Anyways, I've recently got a stereo turn table and I must say it's great. Certain albums sound very different in CD and LP format. A good example (to me anyways) is Deathspell Omega's Si Monumentum Requires, Circumspice.

Go!
