Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair, who led the famous Tennessee Titans' drive that came a yard short of forcing overtime in the 2000 Super Bowl, was found dead Saturday with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the head. Police said a pistol was discovered near the body of a woman also shot dead in a downtown condominium.

I think it is safe to say too many people are dying recently.   I was never necessarily a huge fan but you never expect things like this to happen.  The story around the death is a little iffy, but I guess he was very involved with the community and wanted to be a role model for kids.  Pretty crappy world when people want to kill people like that.

ok, so i've recently acquired a dandy little pc with a big problem.  The owners said it was attacked by a virus or whatever... anyway, when i boot it up i get an error telling me that the hard disk can either not be found or has a problem with it.  Sometimes after hitting enter it will take me to the WinXP screen with the little bar that goes across in the box at the bottom.  Well, that bar just keeps going across.  I can get to the bios screen, but i'm a real novice on changing things in there.  when i get to the slave vs master drive stuff and SATA/PATA things sometimes it shows that it recognizes a slave 80gb PATA hard drive.  should this be the master drive?  i have no idea what i've gotten myself into but if someone could start helping me out it would be great.  I'll answer any questions if i can.

EDIT:  Ok, so basically what i have is:  the computer boots up and gives a "there is a problem with the hard disk" error, then it allows me to hit enter.  After that it takes me to the windows start-up screen where the bar just keeps going across the bottom.  Eventually it decides to restart and do it all over.

Situation: Girlfriends B-Day and I'm recording some stuff for her to listen to on CD.

Question: What the hell do I need?

Ok, so I have a mic that works and I'm good there.  I'm more concerned about what programs I need and how I should go about recording and burning so that it will work in a CD player.  Is there a recording program that I should use? What about a CD burning program? Is there a CD burning/recording program?  Should I just use the sound recorder and convert my .WAV files? To what format should I convert them for most CD players to work?  What kind of CDs should I get? Basically I want to record some stuff, burn them to a CD, and let her listen to them in most CD players. All help is appreciated! Thanks!

Edit:  ALL SCHOOLS WELCOME!!!

Since there is probably a good amount of people who have graduated college, are currently in college, or are going to college in the next few years I thought that maybe a database/general college help topic might be... well, helpful.  Getting accepted into college isn't always the hard part, it's paying that's a killer.  I'm not even at the tip of the iceberg yet as my senior year winds down.  I'm starting to hit the scholarships hard and trying to find as many as I can, but I thought that maybe some of you have had experience or have knowledge of things that myself and countless other college student-to-be's don't.  Basically in this topic I thought it'd be nice if maybe you put down your intended or completed major, the college you went to, scholarships/financial aid you got/ and what you're doing now (if you're out of college).  I intend on attending...

College:  Ball St. University (Indiana)

Major: (Elementary Education - possibly dual in Special Education)

Financial Assistance:  To Ball St. I have none right now.  Although you could donate to my college fund in my sig.
