Check if any particular site is CURRENTLY exposed:

Hey everybody, if you reuse passwords at all change them. Except at places that are still exposed to this issue. That wont help you. You are basically at the site's mercy until they update their openSSL.

Hello everyone. I posted in the intro forum and I did a long winded rant on what I've been up to and Pilson said it made him wonder what was going on with guys who left or went on their own long hiatus for whatever reason. Really, hearing about your guy's lives in general sounds interesting to me. I want to hear about you!

I already ranted myself out a bit but I would like to see any personal stories or rants about your life and whats going on. I'm not talking about 'in the moment' posts that you'd see in what's on your mind or the typical response to "how's it going?" being "yeah I'm ok." I want to see some long posts. Its ok if you don't want to share or can't really come up with anything substantial. I just want to establish that this is more of a topic where you'd go into depth on what is really going on with your life and what you'd like to share.

Emotionally, socially, politically, financially, romantically, anything.

How are you're relationships in general? What goals do you have right now (if any, perhaps talking about not having any even)? What are your stuggles and victories? Recent or perhaps far in the past. If you've mentioned something on this forum before, feel free to repeat yourself, if only going more in depth.

Anyway, I hope to read some interesting stuff about my salt peeps. And I hope it feels good to get stuff off of your chests. You don't have to be in a miserable state to share either. Feel free to talk about more positive shit if you can.

Hey guys. I've been gone for a bit you might have noticed (or not). Its funny to think, despite being here for soooo long I'm not sure if I ever actually made an introduction when I first signed up. Or at least its been long enough that I don't remember.

I took a vacation from salt land for a bit. Mostly due to Ebay work. I've got a new determined attitude about money. Philosophically, I've never had much motivation for money. I've always hated money. I've just wanted to have the bare basics, shelter, food, social life, and sex/romantic life. I have always had the former 2. But the latter things has been all but non-present for me especially for the past 2 years and its been eating at my sanity. This is largely because of where I live and a lack of motivation and generally being a fairly depressive person. And hating money motivated work. I still do, but now, I've forced myself to change perspective. I have to work within the system. I have to be aggressive, possibly even ruthless. Because that is what capitalism demands. And I've been miserable because I've been too passive and hippy-like. I've avoided such for fear of what I'd become, and now, perhaps its selfish, but I don't care anymore. I just don't want to live like this anymore. I NEED escape. And if I have to slit some throats and stab some backs to do it (financially, and probably less extremely than that imagery implies) then so be it. I don't see money as a high score, I see it as a means of escape.

I've been a sleazy salesman as of late. I'm misleading people at times. I realize I'm actually good at it... despite my usual social failings. I've been getting better about that though. I've pushed the idea that the person I'm tricking and manipulating? They are better off than me, they can take the hit. They are better off, because I'm living a grey meaningless life living with my parents and they have their own middle class life where they can buy the stupid meanness collectable shit I'm selling. And I no longer feel guilt for taking from them as much as I can.

I still hate doing this. I'd rather not. I feel... like I'm not myself and I feel little meaning in getting money in of itself. But the few jobs I've taken in more menial areas ("noble" worker/labor jobs) made me actively hate life and I'm not smart, motivated, or talented enough to actually produce anything that will make me money to live on.

I have not played a video game in about a month and a half (very very bizarre behavior from me). I have not talked to online friends much in that time period either. Even so, I often have to take breaks from work a lot. Listing items is painfully boring. I just have to keep reminding myself of what they represent to me and not think too much about how fucking stupid the shit I'm selling is.

I'm still not even making much money. I've only cleared about a hundred bucks because of a lack of valuable stock to sell and a few missteps for the past 2 weeks. But I've fairly confident in my abilities now and there is going to be a good opportunity to get some more stock in a month or so in the form of a multi-state garage sale event. I'm going to low ball the fuck out of people. I once bought a shelf full of near pristine books on stupid topics such as 'God is no laughing matter' and 'Love Lust and faking it' and a bunch of self help bullshit, and I bought them for dirt cheap. They haven't sold well and they take up a lot of room, but I made double my money after a half a week. I put on a chipper veneer when I communicate with my customers and basically kiss their feet as I sell them garbage they don't need. I don't hate or dislike my customers or anything but I definitely don't like them as much as I feel like I have to pretend to. I don't like putting on a false face.

My ultimate goal is to move to a city far away from my family. Like Denver or Seattle. I'd prefer to have my own private place. A tiny dinky apartment maybe, no car. I've never cared about wide open spaces. I hate living in the country. Only access to lots of people is what I care about. And stimulation, I'm restless.

Anyway, that has been what I've been doing. Sorry for not saying farewell when I left. I wasn't planning on being gone in the first place Just sort of happened.

Its not entirely true though that this has been all I've been doing with my time though. I've been going to various places and writing text book length responses on various topics like politics and science to keep from going insane with boredom in places like youtube, reddit, and facebook. And I've also taken to online RPing, not using any systems, just drama and sex shit, its bizarre that this is what I find myself compelled write, largely erotica. Maybe its my lack of anything erotic or romantic in my normal life these days. Its definitely something I never thought I'd do though. I always thought that shit was stupid untill I gave it a try. And no, I don't write well enough to make money off of it. Everyone and their parents wants to write these days. Its a skill with little scarcity due to the internet and most people posting their written work for free and unless you have a scarce skill (no matter how meaningless it is, like manipulating people and numbers for your own gain) capitalism wants nothing to do with it. Obviously.

I'm also not entirely sure if I'm going to post lots or anything now. It depends I guess. I'm going to try and visit this place more though. So you'll see me around probably. I'll probably be on IRC again too. I got on a few times. I don't know if I'll have much worth talking about. I might actually be a bit more aggressive and opinionated in my posts though... I actually hold a lot of views on things that you guys would probably vehemently disagree with as a community but I kept them to myself and I might continue to do so. My mind is still open though. You guys have changed my opinions in the past and I value that. I value that a lot, so much so that I need to be more willing to put myself out there on my more... extreme thoughts. IDK. But I feel like I might let them out now. I might post more topics now too. I basically NEVER did that before. Almost always replies.

What did I miss? Have any more game jams? Olbies still around? Anyone leave? Thank you for reading my block of text.

A friend of mine let me know that this album was free to stream online right now. Its not out yet, it'll be out in on May 17, 2013 in Australia, May 20, 2013 in the United Kingdom and on May 21, 2013 in the United States (from wikipedia)

http://grooveshark.com/#!/playlist/Daft+Punk+Random+Access+Memories/86439304

I just finished "Lose Yourself to Dance" and I liked it but my favorite thus far is "Instant Crush"

They seem to be going for a 60's-70's retro theme or something. Seems like a good fit for their style of electronica music.

Any other Daft Punk lovers here?

EDIT: just letting you know the songs are in reverse order, bottom song is the first, top is the last.

OK. I have a REALLY sensitive document on Google Docs. I realize this is fucking stupid security wise. but its also incredibly important that I not lose the data either.

So I looked up some options, I found TrueCrupt. Made a Truecrypt drive and stored this singular file with a decently hefty password with all the bells and whistles.

Only thing I'm concerned about though is that on the cloud I could access this file from anywhere and I would also never have to worry about losing it to a failed harddrive. Now that is a concern. I suppose I could store the same data on my media drive Which I plan on doing but is there not a possibility that both drive could fail me at the same time? Unlikely, but a possibility.

And I'm also considering storing a back up of it in a zip/rar file with a crazy long password on google docs. but I'm still fairly concerned that someone could retrieve it that way.

Anyway, any suggestions on this topic? I'd really appreciate it. Lots of things I'm probably fucking stupid about security wise and I'm getting around to fixing those issues now.

Decided I'd try and start a GURPS game on IRC, which later developed into using Roll20, and then I decided I'd rather use MapTool. Anyway, here is a direct link to Havern IRC:

http://irc.lc/esper/havern/irctc@@@

And having a topic on Salt seemed like a good idea as well so maybe players can post their character sheet (EDIT: if you are OK with the other players seeing it.  Otherwise E-mail your character sheet to me: warpped655 @ gmail . com)
 and such and we can discuss things in between games without worrying if the person in question is on IRC. (though Sarevok, Toothache, and Dorothy hardly ever post on SW/GW anymore, Faust and Dead Phoenix do and perhaps the others will return if only to post here)

I'm using Google Docs to provide important information for people who want to join:
https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=15guOvKB-0EEglwyXbH9_aPz1tGWksVNZdSBXZY1mlPA

The gist is that we are using Maptools to play once I get going on a session and I'd like you to use GURPS Character Sheet to set up your character. But there are a lot of imporant details you need to see in the Google Docs page.

Players:
Faust, Sarevok, Dorothy, Dead Phoenix (possibly)

I'm open for 1 more person assuming Dead Phoenix doesn't join. I don't want it getting to crowded for now since I'm brand new to playing pen and paper games online let alone running them online. (I've done both offline though, and ran 2 with GURPS, the system we are using for this game)

EDIT:
I also have not heard from Toothache but I'm pretty sure he said he was going to play, but if he doesn't I'll have another spot open. If, later I grow a bit in confidence in running online games I might let in more people in this game or future games that I run.

Yep, NVM Toothache's not playing. So I'm open for an extra player.

Scratch that. I got enough players.

I'll also probably use this space to set up game times once I have everything figured out.

Hey, you like to write? Have anything you want to share? little bits and pieces of interesting but perhaps even unfinished work? (everything I'm sharing is unfinished, yay?) or maybe you want to read and critique others work? Maybe you have some non-story work to show, such as poems, articles, etc that you wrote and would like to share? Any shit you scribbled up and thought it had some semblance of merit?

All my stuff is usually some form of Sci-Fi. and much of it I wrote a while ago. This is actually because I don't write as often as I should because I actually really enjoy writing but usually just never think to do it for some reason or just never get around to it.

(I made this topic in Ed's GlitchWorks a while back, only got one other person to post, theodolite, you can see the story I posted and the one he posted at http://www.glitchworks.net/f/index.php/topic,58.msg583.html#msg583 )

If you want to read the unfinished story section I posted, you can go to the Google Docs page I published instead of the above link if you prefer.

I'm just going to link to the stories as published Google Doc works so as to avoid clutter:

A writing project I did for class that I did about about 2 years back:

Backstory
Initial Character Concept
The Setting

There was a Forth part that I lost that was arguably the best part, it was turned in as a "final" with the above 3 parts edited together to read much better but I foolishly never uploaded to Google Docs and it was lost, Along with another short story I wrote that I was a lot more proud of. I wrote this stuff kind of hastily because they were class assignments and I was a procrastinator. So they really benefited from the editing that I did. Oh well. Guess this sets the bar kind of low, so seriously post anything!

The most recent thing I've written I was waiting to get my HDD's so I could do more than just surf the net and word process. Since I got sick of just wasting time on the internet I figured I'd actually use it to word process. I actually used a random word generator to get some ideas and creative juices flowing and just stuck with the first word I got "Disciple" and then threw in any other ideas that sort of flowed from that word. I also posted this on IRC and noticed that no one commented. Which makes sense I suppose since most of the people on IRC aren't likely to stick around and do any article length reading. Or maybe they just didn't give a fuck or thought it sucked and held back saying so. Who knows.

This is a dumb sci-fi horror story and its the longest single piece that I've written because I actually thought I'd have the patience to write a novel length story. (HAHA NOPE) It also kind of does a poor job of explaining the context and setting to a degree, the dialogue is awkward, and since its so long (slightly less than 8000 words) feel free to skip it (though you should feel free to skip all of these bits of writing obviously)

And finally, about a year ago I was bored again and wrote this set of character concepts for an alternate version of Snow White I was planning on doing something with a bunch of disney Characters and rewriting their back stories but eventually thought the idea has already kind of been done and its to close to fan fiction for comfort. (Not that I actually dislike all fan fiction, its just usually looked down upon for some reason, if you have fan fiction post it, I'll probably read it.) (EDIT: Just letting you know I also sort of planned on maybe doing some sort of roleplaying with this stuff, thus the "abilities" part of every character description)

So, there are a few other things that I've written that either never even got any written parts (as in it was just a general 'story order' that I never got around to fleshing out) and stuff that I've lost to dying HDD's and not backing them up.

If you have got anything to post PLEASE DO! I want to read what Salt has to offer. It doesn't have to be fiction, that's just what I like to write. Maybe you have a BLOG or substantial twitter even?

Tell your writing friends! (Hundley, lol)

I've always wondered, for those that are working on a game and have worked on games or plan on working on a game, what they think the player should receive for failure in their game and how they handle punishments. These days, Video game punishments can really be just whittled down to their core, Time. Each time a player dies/loses it takes them longer generally to complete the game or level, either because they have to restart to a save, (which is usually the case) or they lose items, skills, etc in the process, making it harder to progress quickly, meaning spending more time in the game.

Its of course important to know who is playing your game when considering this. Are the players the type to quit at heavy punishments? Usually that means you should probably have both quicksaves and plenty of checkpoints, or even hardly punish them at all (Battlefield Bad Company 1 had you respawn an infinite amount of times till you completed the mission, no progress lost, all the player has to do a walk a couple of yards back into combat). Are your players gluttons for punishment? Maybe limit their saves to a handful per level (a la Hitman), or make them lose all of their items (minecraft), or at the extreme side of the spectrum: Make them start at the beginning (rogue-likes are a good example)

So what do you do for your games for this delicate issue? Is there anything particularly unique in how you punish your players? Do you lean towards the heavy or lighter punishments?

I'm going to my first "gaming and anime" convention tomorrow (my friend is picking me up at 6am, I don't know why so early but he understands the details of the trip better than I do so...

The convention, A&G (Animation and gaming) Ohio info can be found here: http://events.r20.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e5ifuy81bafc542f&llr=av66p6iab You can still technically go at this point. I doubt anyone here would be able to go though since I'm bringing this up such short notice.

Anyway, since this is going to be my first convention, I'm not entirely sure what to do other than participate in the events and buy stuff. Which sounds fun but I was wondering if there is anything to do during conventions other then the obvious. I'm not a giant Anime fan (but I do enjoy it assuming the story is at least decent) I generally favor playing video games. But this leaves me with a conundrum, I can play games at home on my computer any time I want, I was wondering if I could spend a minimum of my time on that (other than maybe a free to enter FPS tournament) and more on getting the most out of any unique things found at a convention that you can't do ordinarily. Any suggestions?

Also, anyone else here ever go to a convention of any sort? Any stories to tell?

Disclaimer: I've technically gone to GDC once, but I don't consider that a convention. If fact GDC is considered a business conference, hence being "Game Developers Conference" and not something you go to for fun but to network and find employers/employees (though I imagine a convention might be just a suitable for such a purpose).

http://gizmodo.com/5744521/sony-ngp-an-oled+equipped-dual-analog-touch+sensitive-portable-powerhouse

Holy fuck. I want this.

Kotaku:

The PSP2 is finally here. Sony revealed its brand new PlayStation Portable at an event in Tokyo today, giving us our first official look at the PlayStation maker's next bold foray into handheld gaming, the "Next Generation Portable." Here are the first details.      The Hardware Sony confirmed many of the features of the PSP2 that we've already heard in the form of leaks, rumor and speculation. The PSP2 features a high-resolution, touch-sensitive OLED screen that's larger than the original PSP screen, tilt-sensitive SIXAXIS controls, dual analog sticks, front and back-facing cameras, and a touch sensitive back panel.
Sony boasts that the new PlayStation Portable is as powerful as a PlayStation 3. The device features built-in WiFi and 3G wireless connectivity and uses an all-new form of media storage for games—no more UMD.
Here's how Sony describes it: "NGP adopts a new game medium, a small flash memory based card, dedicated for NGP software titles. Taking advantage of the flash memory feature, this innovative card can store the full software titles plus add-on game content or the game save data directly on to the card. By adopting flash memory based card, SCE will be able to provide game cards with higher capacity in the future, allowing developers to store more game data to deliver rich and immersive games."
For now, Sony is officially calling the new PlayStation Portable by its codename, Next Generation Portable or NGP. It will be out this holiday in Japan.
The Full Specs

  • CPU: ARM® Cortex™-A9 core (4 core)
  • GPU: SGX543MP4+
  • External Dimensions: Approx. 182.0 x 18.6 x 83.5mm (width x height x depth) (tentative, excludes largest projection)
  • Rear touch pad: Multi touch pad (capacitive type)
  • Cameras: Front camera, Rear camera
  • Sound: Built-in stereo speakers, Built-in microphone
  • Sensors: Six-axis motion sensing system (three-axis gyroscope, three-axis accelerometer), Three-axis electronic compass
  • Location: Built-in GPS, Wi-Fi location service support
  • Keys / Switches: PS button, Power button, Directional buttons (Up/Down/Right/Left), Action buttons (Triangle, Circle, Cross, Square), Shoulder buttons (Right/Left), Right stick, Left stick, START button, SELECT button, Volume buttons
  • Wireless communications: Mobile network connectivity (3G), IEEE 802.11b/g/n (n = 1x1)(Wi-Fi) (Infrastructure mode/Ad-hoc mode), Bluetooth® 2.1+EDR ?A2DP/AVRCP/HSP?
The Games Sony showcased a handful of games alongside the reveal of the new PSP, including new titles Little Deviants, Reality Fighters and Gravity Daze, plus games based on the following PlayStation franchises.

  • Uncharted
  • Killzone
  • WipeOut
  • Resistance
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Hustle Kings
  • Hot Shots Golf
Sony says the new PlayStation Portable will also play PSone games supported via its PlayStation Suite platform and will be backwards compatible with downloadable PSP games. To demonstrate this, Capcom's Jun Takeuchi demoed Monster Hunter Portable 3rd for the PSP on a NGP.
Third parties have shown demonstrations of Yakuza 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4 running on the system, with Activision announcing a Call of Duty for the new PSP.

Gizmodo:
Quote
The Sony PSP2 has arrived under the codename NGP. It has a nice, big 5-inch OLED touchscreen, dual analog sticks, front/rear cameras, and the most interesting part—a touch-sensitive panel on the back of the device used for control.

 In addition to the above specs, the PSP2/NGP has 3G and GPS, along with wi-fi, and Sony claims this thing is as powerful as a PS3. The 5-inch screen is higher resolution than what's previously been featured in PSP devices (960x544). Kotaku says the screen is a beauty with impressive viewing angles.

UMD is nowhere to be found—which should come as no surprise—and the PSP2 instead opting for a new form of storage. Meanwhile, Sony is putting huge emphasis on social and location-aware gaming.

As for the rear touch-sensitive panel, it takes up roughly the same amount of space as the screen, and responds to more than one finger at a time. In a game demo, it demonstrated how you could use the rear panel to flick beach balls up into the air on the screen. Touch a spot on the rear panel and the screen will respond accordingly in the same area.

The SIXAXIS controls, meanwhile, add motion controls akin to those of smartphones. And for those attached to more traditional methods of gaming, the standard D-Pad and four-button cross layout are also there (with L/R shoulder triggers as well).

The PSP2 will come with new internal software called LiveArea, which is all about connecting you to nearby gamers. You can login and see who's playing what games nearby, what the high scores are in a given area, and connect with other gamers.

Sony also seems keen on ridiculous descriptors for various aspects of the PSP2 (such as the acronym NGP for Next Generation Portable). They are also calling the design "Super Oval Design," and referring to the analog thumbsticks as "Micro Analog Sticks," which shouldn't be confused for nubs.

Here's the kicker: it should be available by the 2011 holiday season.

For more on the PSP2, checkout Kotaku's liveblog straight from the Playstation event in Japan. [<a href="http://kotaku.com/5744297/live-from-sonys-tokyo-press-conference">Kotaku]

I'm not even much of a Playstation person. I've mostly been Xbox back when I was into consoles. This is pretty much what I wanted in a handheld since the beginning. (except the motion controls, that's just a bonus, and the touch screen only being used for menus, not gameplay)

I just hope it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

EDIT: NVM, the implementation of touch screens is actually quite ingenious for gameplay. Back panel I just realized is also a touch screen that can correlate with the  front of the screen.

Also I am completely apathetic to 3D shit Nintendo is peddling...

EDIT2: Updated the info from the kotaku article.

Hey! Steam holiday sale! as usual, fucking awesome sales. Any one get anything yet? They are doing that daily sale thing again too. I bought Just Cause 2, Aliens vs. Predator (2010), and Bully. Past 2 days had decent sales as well, but I only got the Oddboxx which I'm super excited about!

I also bought 2 of the Indie packs, Beat Pack and 2D Pack.

I have so many games now. Wish I had more time to play them. But I was planning on playing most of these eventually anyway. so worth it.

I'm interested in reading some new comics. of any kind actually.

I want to read some super heroes stuff as well as the less nerdy non-super heroes. Any recommendations?

Anyway, these comics have been going on for so damn long. IDK where to start. I already DLed all the Captain America comics. I have a interest in reading Batman to. but I REALLY don't know where to start with that at all...

As well as these things, I'd like to read some good web-based comics. I'm interested in SERIOUS or comedy.

Also, anyone here reading comics lately?

The first 2 seasons of fringe were (at least to me) very mediocre. Most episodes left me somewhat apathetic, as the plot never really moved much. It was always 'case of the week' crap. I only continued to watch it because I was desperate for some Sci-fi TV and I had a small hope that it'd get better. (also I love Walter)

My opinion changed for this season. Like the ends of seasons of a lot of shows, it left in a cliffhanger with a lot of change in the overall story. However, Usually TV shows I watch "resolve" the cliff hangar the very first episode of the next season wrapping it up as if it was just a ploy to make sure you tuned in next time, but wasn't important to the overall story really.

Fringe didn't do that. The end of the last season has actually made it so the plot is moving in this season quite quickly. The show has become MUCH more interesting.

Anyone else still watching?

Recently started watching A show called Happy Town. There is only 3 episodes thus far, so its to early to say if the show will be any good, but so far it's held my interest.

Wikipedia on the plot:
"A period of peace following a series of unsolved kidnappings is cut short when a new crime has everyone talking in the small Minnesota  town of Haplin."

Anyone else watching this? All 3 episodes are on Hulu ATM so it wouldn't hurt to watch and see if it interests you.

Edit: BTW, its not just a crime show. It has a element of sci-fi/supernatural stuff in it. One of the main reasons it has me interested.

I'm in a Horror lit. class, were currently reading Anne Rice's "The Witching Hour". I was planning on reading it over this weekend. anyway, I realised something, other than books required by this class, I haven't been reading much in the way of Novels. At first I thought I was just being lazy, but I just realised, when it comes to Movies, video games, and TV shows, I usually have sites to go to like Metacritic or Gamerankings to determine if I should bother to play/watch them. I have a low tolerance for crappy media of any sort. Quickly giving up on some video games and stopping movies halfway trough, and I have little money to try everything. I want to get straight to the good stuff, and I notice that there really isn't any sites like these for books. Metacritic used to have a book section, but they closed it.

Anyway, I have 2 requests:

1) Do you know of a site with reliable reviews or even better, a site that compiles multiple reviews for books?
2) know any good RECENT Horror, Sci-fi, adventure books? Stephan king's books is an example of what I like.

Extra request that I came up with as I typed up this post: I also want to get into reading comics (not superheroes unless they are well known for having interesting stories or characters), anything you guys can recommend?

Here's the trailer, but I recommend that you don't watch all the way to the end as there are quite a few of what I think are pretty big spoilers:

I personally have not seen the original. Now that I've seen this trailer I want to. I love "zombie" type movies like 28 Day's later and Dawn of the Dead, so this looks right up my alley.

There's also "Zombieland" but that despite the fact that it has "zombie" in the title appeals to me less.

no release date as the trailer popped up only 2 days ago. Wiki lists the release date as February 26, 2010

--It's over, sorry--

I made this topic in sort of a rush. Sorry for the messiness of it.

Not a lot of time, I just found out about this. I already own AudioSurf, but the rest I never tried. Figured I'd share:

Deal 1:
$30 USD for:
AudioSurf - I've owned this for a long time, its excellent, especially if you love music and have a large collection of music on your PC. The game generates levels based on the song/track.

Blueberry Garden - looks like a simple platformer game. Very "indie" look. Probably a short easy game.

Braid - You have probably heard of this one, its got a 90 on metacritic. its been made fun of my kayne west I think (or something like that).

Crayon Physics Deluxe - I'll admit, it really just looks like one of those free flash physics games, but its got "Over 70 levels" and "Easy to use level editor". and it looks professional enough to be worth it.

Darwinia -  a RTS-esque game set in a Tron like world from what I can tell. Looks entertaining.

Everyday Shooter - looks like a more artsy version of Geometry Wars

Gish - looks extremely fun. Its a platformer. some noteworthy bullet points:
    *  Dynamic physics and lighting
    * Destructible environments
    * 34+ story levels
    * 20+ collection levels
    * 80+ player-made levels available for download
    * Six unique VS. modes
    * Unlockable game modes
    * Over 15 animated enemies
    * Six deranged bosses
    * Five "super secret" levels
    * Level editor

Mr. Robot - Isometric 3D puzzle RPG Platformer in a Sci-Fi setting. Also looks incredibly fun.
    *  Over 200 beautifully realised (yet perilous!) rooms.
    * Over 20 different enemies.
    * 7 friendly robots to aid you in your quest.
    * Hack hostile networks in 'ghost hack'.
    * Solve puzzles.
    * Numerous medals to unlock.
    * Discover what has caused all the problems onboard the starship.
    * Rescue your robot friends and the sleeping human crew and save the mission.

The Path - Only game I probably wont really play all that much. Its looks kinda dull to me and the trailer just shows the player WALKING AROUND. but I'll give it a try.

World of Goo -  Another 90 on metacritic. You may have heard of this one to.

I already bought them. and I don't actually know how much time is left (not a lot its a weekend deal). So if you are interested you should HURRY!

There is also another Cheaper $20 USD one with 5 games instead of 10:
Blueberry Garden
Braid
Everyday Shooter
The Path
World of Goo

Buying the pack will also help out the indie developers which I'd say is good.

Well, I noticed that the Guess the Game topic died so I'm making a new one.  :welp:

I'm not great at making topics, so I'll begin by quoting the stuff DS said for the last one:
It's been a while since we had one of these so let's have another one since they are pretty fun.

This game works like this. First a person posts a screenshot of some game. If you think it's too hard to get it right based on just the screenshot, it's okay to give a tip but don't make it too obvious. Once the screen is posted, others will try to guess what game it is. Once someone gets it right, he will post a new screen after his answer has been confirmed by the one who posted the previous screenshot. However, if the one who posted the screenshot is not on around when you answer and you are absolutely sure that your answer is correct, you can proceed and post the next screenshot. If someone gets the answer right and does not post a screenshot during the next three hours after his answer was confirmed, anyone can post the next screenshot. One last thing, you can post a new screenshot if no one gets the last one right in 12 24 hours. However, if someone has guessed, you will have to wait for confirmation because he might be right. And that's all there is to this, pretty simple.

I'm not going to count points or anything and there will be no winner. I'm going to delete any posts which ignore the rules and  if someone posts a screenshot without getting last one right, they will have to meet furious dragonslayer for not reading the first post in the topic.

EDIT: By the way, the point isn't to post a screenshot NO ONE CAN GET RIGHT. That's why I want you to stick with games which have been released outside Japan or rest of Asia as well, unless they are popular enough so someone can actually know the game.

Just follow the rules he set up for it. I think they seem like they work well.

It'd be cool if this was stickied like it was a long time ago so this doesn't die again but whatever, The last one went for 160 pages or so...

also, here is an easy one.

EDIT: Wait period changed from 12 to 24 hours. the edit is in red.

I just bought a new graphics card. And I have avoided buying a lot of games for PC because of not having a very good card. In fact I'd say in the past 2-3 years of PC gaming I have missed many PC games.

In fact I've been relying on my 360 for a lot of my games now, but now that I have a good card I have little reason to buy/play a game for it unless it doesn't/hasn't come to PC (Like Halo 3).

My favorite genre is the FPS, I suck at all RTS games so I'm not one to bother with them unless you know of a recent "newb" friendly (this doesn't mean shallow) RTS game I'm all for giving it a go.
I Like pretty much like all genres, except puzzle and sports, so don't avoid mentioning a game because it isn't a FPS.

Now, I haven't bought them yet but there are already a lot of REALLY recent games I plan on buying for PC. These games in fact: L4D, FC2, FO3, Mirror's Edge, CoD:WaW(and 4), Dead Space, and Saints Row 2. And I've already bought: UT3(for the editor, never been a huge fan of this series), "The Valve Complete Pack" and Spore (feel a bit ripped off by that one, but it is still a good game) A long list for sure, but the more the merrier, and I've missed much, What I'm really asking for:

-Lesser known Gems that came out in the past 3 years for PC.
-Games that were underrated in the past 3 years for PC.
-Games that were so good, released in the past 3 years for PC, that it be a bad idea to miss them.
-Games to avoid in the past 3 years for PC.

Try not to just list off a game though (though I admit, I'm guilty of doing this), what exactly is so good about the game your recommending or what is so bad about the game you are telling be to avoid.

http://store.steampowered.com/publisher/Rockstar%20Games/

Steam is having all the Rockstar titles go at 50% off this weekend.

I'm considering getting Midnight Club 2 and Manhunt (5 + 5 = 10 bucks) since I already own the rest (which is unfortunate because holy crap 30 bucks for a LOT of games).

Also, we should have a single unified "deals" topic.
