My computer has been acting really weird ever since I change monitors. For the past two months, I have been using a flat monitor instead of my old bulky one. In the begining, it used to shut down unexpectedly, seemingly for no reason. At first I thought it was a software related issue but then it started closing up at safe mode or even before windows loads. The computer usually gives no warning when it is about to shut down but some times I can tell because the hard drive suddenly starts making a lot of noise as if it was spinning around really fast.
For some reason, the problem decided to disappear for a while and it was all good; up until today. I didn't know what to do so I decided to open up my box only to find that it was dusty as
fuck and that the second hard drive, the one that makes the noise, had only one screw. I decided to screw the three remaining screws to make the harddrive a bit more steady and fired up my pc. It run well for a while but then the problem happened again, and I totally freaked out. Is the cpu overheating because of all the dust? What do I need to do?
EDIT:
Seeing as this will probably help me out, I figured I'd list the other two main problems that are bugging me.
I have got problems with my modem. It downloads at a much slower speed than it's supposed to, and it disconnects every time I try to join the whahay IRC. I have to trick it into letting me by repeating the process over and over and over but that tends to be extremely annoying.
I have ALSO got a problem with me being unable to check the "Display hidden files and folders" option in the folder options menu. What's up with that? Is this a virus or malware of any sort? NOD32 and Spybot found nothing. I couldn't even check the option in Safe Mode.
