since the other topic has been smashed to oblivion here is a topic about brainstorming troubadour ideas! i think it would be great to do some more troubadours stuff soon but i can't remember any of the ideas in the old thread

ideas i can think of right now:
  • christmas album (covers, originals?)

  • just an album of collabs

  • remember those guitar pro collaborations a while ago? they were cool and it would be fun to do it again, maybe with just a MIDI file or something

  • cover songs in a completely different style to the original recording (has this been done before ??)

  • similarly go out of our comfort zone and work with genres we wouldn't normally
can you guys think of anything else / the ideas from the previous thread?

Well this was mostly Wash Cycle's idea so you have him to thank! (or shout at)

GW FANTASY SOCCER

The English Premier League offer a great fantasy football game on their website, and WC suggested we should get in on the action! If there's any fans of real football (ho ho ho) in all the Gaming Worlds then this topic is for you!

If you want to play, first go to http://fantasy.premierleague.com/ and register an account (it's free :D). It'll ask for a username as well as your real name and date of birth, but don't worry too much because your name will only be viewable inside the deliberately private league, and your DoB won't be at all AFAIK.

Once you've done that, you'll be asked to set up your team details! Give yourself a cool team name and a cool looking strip, then continue.

Right, this is the interesting bit: you'll be asked to set up a team roster by choosing from players in the Premier League. Be careful! You have a budget of £100 million and a 15 man roster to fill (that's 2 goalkeepers, 5 defenders, 5 midfielders and 3 forwards), so spend that money wisely. All players have scores depending on their stats and prices relative to those scores, so it's not too difficult to do.

Okay, you've got yourself a fantastic team! A bit of a problem though, no one to compete with. Don't worry, that's where I come in. I've set up a private Gaming World league so that us GWers can compete. I'm already in the league and I've invited Wash Cycle by e-mail, but if you want to join yourself you'll have to enter the following code under the Leagues tab: 883127-161958

Okay, you're all set! Points are awarded by the players' performances in real life, so I'd advise you keep an eye on the actual English Premier League; match reports and fixtures are available at the website. If you want this properly explained, be sure to read the Rules. (actually I'd advise that everyone do this)

Our season starts on the 23rd of August (the second gameweek), so it'd be a good idea to join before then, but we'll still be accepting teams after then, albeit at a disadvantage.

Be sure to post your team name and roster in this topic so that we can keep track of who's who!

So far our teams are:

(note that I haven't got any official GW endorsement, I wasn't sure how to go about that!)

Okay, fellow members, give me a hand here. I want to do something with my hair. Now, I was looking on the web and I have narrowed it down to these three styles:

Hairstyle A:

Hairstyle B:

Hairstyle C:

All these suit the texture of my hair pretty well. I'm kind of leaning towards A at the moment. Does anyone have any advice as to what to go for, or any other ideas about what to do? (don't say 'shave' or 'boris johnson')

EDIT: Medieve raised a good point. Here goes nothing!

A friend of mine told me about this, and I just think it's fantastic. Basically, this guy Toni Westbrook has coded a clone of Guitar Hero for the Commodore 64, complete with a peripheral to attatch your GH controller to your Commodore.

Quote from: The Shredz64 devblog
Shredz64 is a modern day game for the Commodore 64 that makes use of the Playstation guitar controller hooked through the PSX64 interface. Its design is modeled against the popular "Guitar Hero" series, geared toward the ability to play along to your favorite C64 music on the guitar. Correctly played notes increase your score and applause meter, while incorrectly played notes decrease your applause meter. If the crowd stops applauding, you're out! Additionally, Shredz64 features the "shredocity" meter that allows for extra points when you're doing an awesome job shredding to your favorite chiptune.

Shredz64 features the following:

  • The ability to play (many) SID files, including ones added by the player.
  • The ability to edit "notes" (the buttons that scroll during gameplay) for both built in and imported songs.
  • Pseudo 3D gameplay to give it the look and feel of a modern day game.
  • High score tracking, 5 scores for each song.
  • The ability to detect when the guitar is lifted up to activate shred mode.
